Dear Izzie, "The Air That I Breathe" was lovely. Thanks for introducing us to The Hollies.

Boy, edgar. I know the feeling of the air when it's tornado weather, buddy. Hope the skies stay clear.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do it with two songs, folks.

First, Beethoven.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2cFEHM9yMw

Then, a lovely native American song, Windwalker.Perhaps this will oversee your skies, Texas.

Goodnight, world,

From Letty with love

Well, something dispelled the storm clouds. Either Beethoven or the windwalker, but I won't say which.

@panzade,
That looks like a heart attack on a plate but I would love it -- so what, if you don't eat it but once every few months!

Yea, Letty, Mel Torme and he did a duet with Judy on one of her shows of the song but this one of The Trolley Song, Mel looks like a kid out of high school.

Wow, Mr. Wizard, I did not know that Judy and Mel did The Trolley Song. Hmmm. wonder if they still have trolley tracks in some states. Watched TCM last evening, and saw Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake in The Blue Dahlia. They were both really good as was the movie. I love watching the old ones.

Glad to see Barry the Brit back with us and doing Minnie the Moocher from The Blue Brothers. Cab was really good. I believe Danny Kaye did that one as well.

Today is Harper Lee's birthday, and there is still some question concerning Truman Capote's having ghost written To Kill a Mocking Bird, but no matter.

Here's a tribute to her, folks.

More Judy this morning, with Bobby Darin.

Good morning. Still raining out there. Some spots nearby had about ten inches so far.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, loved the Bobby Judy songs about the railroad. Great, Texas. Wow! Ten inches of rain? We haven't gotten any here in forever.

My sister had to talk me into reading the book, but once I did, I read it twice.

Just remembered Boxcar Willie and found this bio on him.

Wonder if panz remembers this one, folks?

@Letty,
sure do letty, except I heard it by the original cat Roy Acuff and his dobro player Bashful Brother Oswald...
they say when this song was first broadcast from the Grand Old Opry the response was tremendous...it was during the depression and the tale of a mythical train and wandering hobo struck a chord in our nation...
here's Roy being introduced by Porter Wagoner on his show

panz, Roy Acuff? My word, I certainly do not know that version, but thanks.Bet you remember Long Black Veil as well.

Well, well, Izzie. I can picture you waltzing to The Blue Danube as we speak. Love it, gal, and let's hope the doc gives you a good word.

One of my favorites about London, folks.

why yes...do I have the lectern?

I first heard it by the Kingston Trio and thought it was an old folk song, not realizing that it was written in the late 50's by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin who gave it to Lefty Frizzell to do...where it reached #6 on the country charts.When the Band did in the late 60's it reached a broader audience and became one of those sing-along standards.

PS Marijohn Wilkin is the mother of John Wilkin who wrote and recorded Little GTO, the classic muscle car tribute from the 60's.

I traded e mails with John many years ago and he told me he wrote the song in Algebra class out of sheer boredom

@panzade,
Do you have the lectern? My Gawd, panz. That makes me think of listening to profs at UVA. Yes, you have it with your GTO. Love that, reminds me of The Beach Boys in a way.

Well, here's Lefty, and did you once say it might refer to a lady in black who visited Poe's tomb? Maybe is was Valentino.

@panzade,
Oh, yes, panz, a little after my time. Razz

Got my master's degree there, honey. At one time UVA was the party place.

Funny, my husband went to Tech, and one of my teaching colleagues did as well. She had a big button that said, "Wa Who"? Loved that.

See if you think the fans are partying.

incidentally, my editor missed this one;

Maybe IT was Valentino.

I grew up listening to Lefty Frizzel's Long Black Veil and Roy Acuff's Wabash Cannonball. I've never heard subsequent versions that could match them, in my opinion.
