The CD and DVD of Bab's 1964 concert tour which includes the venues of Madison Square Gardens, Ft. Lauderdale, and Staples Center in LA is being released tomorrow on DVD. The three DVD set includes her Arrowhead Pond concert and "The Making of the Broadway Album." Although Barnes & Noble contracted to also release the Blu-Ray of the concert only also, it will be available in June of this year on Amazon, et al. The one hour CBS compilation was broadcast Saturday night, but there's only a few of the actual concerts in 1964 that aren't shot by audience members on video cameras, including her funny skit with the Bush look-alike. Here's a song she hasn't done since a much earlier concert:

Watched the one hour special on Saturday night and played it back for friends, including Mom, on Sunday. Il Divo was her quest back up on Berstein's "Somewhere" from "West Side Story." My favorite is still Sondheim's "Children Will Listen" from "Into the Woods."

panz, when I was a kid everything was big at my house. Ragtime from my mom; cowboy songs from my dad; WWII songs from my two older sisters; jazz from Bud; opera from my brother-in-law. Still love anything with water in it...so very soothing.

Mr. Wizard, I know that song. Did Billie Holiday do it as well?

Okay, where is that green sea turtle (yitwail)?Today is the day for the Mamas and the Papas.

@Lightwizard,
Aha! cognitive insight, Mr. Wizard. It was Mel Torme. My older sister loved him. You'll enjoy this one, buddy.

Hope edgar notices the lovely verse to Stardust at the beginning. Best part of the song, methinks.

I even enjoy Mel's scat in Pick Yourself up.

Hoagy Carmichael gets credited with writing Stardust, which he did, but somebody else added the lyrics. For me, the Nat King Cole version is the best. The song is good enough that I listen to many versions by many artists.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! Thanks for that info, edgar. Yep, anything Nat does is good.

Found this, y'all.

Mitchell Parish.

His best known works include the lyrics to songs such as "Star Dust", "Sweet Lorraine", "Deep Purple", "Stars Fell on Alabama", "Sophisticated Lady", "Volare" (English lyrics), "Moonlight Serenade", "Sleigh Ride", "One Morning in May", and "Louisiana Fairy Tale", which was the first theme song used in the PBS Production of This Old House.

Besides providing the lyrics to Hoagy Carmichael's "Star Dust", the two collaborated on standards such as "Riverboat Shuffle" and "One Morning in May"

In 1949, Parish added lyrics to bandleader Al Goodman's tune, "The Allen Stroll", used as the theme song of The Fred Allen Show. The new song, "Carousel of Love", premiered on The Fred Allen Show on April 4, 1949. It was sung by the DeMarco Sisters and played by Al Goodman and his Orchestra.

In 1987 a revue titled Stardust was staged on Broadway featuring Parish's lyrics. It ran for 101 performances and was revived in 1999.

Parish's great nephew was the Grateful Dead roadie Steve Parish, who described Parish's meeting with Jerry Garcia in his autobiography, "Home Before Day Light".

How about Sophisticated Lady, music by the Duke.

panz, Don't much care for Willie's jazz collection, but I met a guy while I was visiting my boy that looked just like him and we sang The Girl in the Blue Velvet Band.

Hey, RJB, where have you been? Anyone ever find this one for you?

@edgarblythe,
Yikes, panz. That's not the kind of Chili I eat, but Ohio can be a weird state. Razz

edgar, Huggin and a Chalkin. I had no idea Hoagy did that one. Thanks for the acknowledgment of the other songs played here as well.

Well, folks, this is a surprise. Hoagy did this one with Johnny Mercer. Couldn't find K.D. Lang's version, but this gal ain't bad.

Izzie, Never heard the Hollies before. Liked "Sorry Suzanne", and it seems as though they are from McTag's neck of the woods. Thanks, gal

Hey, Rock. I really like Brandy. (and the info on the pasta and cheese). Nice to see you back as well, Moose Man.

Another Hoagy, y'all. Never have figured out why some of the videos cut off before they're finished
