Good morning WA2K listeners and contributors.

First allow me to thank Barry the Brit for locating Nat King Thomas.

Ah, Tony Bennett and The Duke's In a Mellow Mood. Heard a riff from " Little Darlin'" in there. Sorta compliments Ella's In a Sentimental Mood.

Well, dys, Bang the Gong must have gotten their idea from J. Arthur Rank.

I think most of us know that "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was inspired by Bach's Sleepers Awake, right?

Can't believe that I stayed up to watch The Sphere based on the book by Michael Crichton. Terrible movie.

@edgarblythe,
Right, edgar. That's the "generation gap" song. Sorta reminds me of Billy Joel's "My Life"

So glad to know that our gold man au is okay and that our Urs is getting better along with Panzade. Now I know two great musicians in Florida. Bert Lee and panzaD.

From the Wonder man.

@Letty,
Half-way through the movie, I wanted it to dis-a-sphere.

The "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunger" version of 20th Century Fox with CinemaScope fanfare:

@Lightwizard,
Funnnneeeee, Mr. Wizard. I kept trying to make sense of the dis-a-sphere without much luck.

While searching for a song to play I ran across this one, y'all.

The song that I was lookin for was, "Get out of town before it's too late my love" and it was done by Caetano Velosa

@Izzie,
It's like they are coming out of the woodwork and there's now an Internet rumor that Susan Boyle's sister is having at Simon Cowell and wants her sister to quite the show and make a record, after Boyle's "instant makeover:"

It's not until May 23rd when the judges announce who is going through.

@Lightwizard,
I saw that on the news, Mr. Wizard.

While we wait for Izzie to respond, today is John James Audubon's birthday. Here is a marvelous tour of the painter and naturalist.

Hi, panz. I assume that you and edgar are talking about The Sphere, or perhaps Susan?

@Izzie,
BTW, she's like Julie Andrews reborn (sans the off-the-costume-rack silly ballerina costume).

I haven't been here for quite a while. Even though I was home for one whole week due to some kind of virus that still causes my head to be stuffed up and I am still coughing. Swine flu? Surely not!

Here is a German song from one of my favourite bands Ich + Ich. Yes, you heard them before... This is 'Ich atme ein, ich atme aus' - I am inhaling, I am exhaling...

@Lightwizard,
Hey Letty, Edgar, Baz, LW et al!

WELCOME BACK PANZADE " you were missed. So good to read that all is good and the op went well. Lovely to see YOU back.

Oh....... you know, Britain’s Got Talent! I hadn't seen anything about Susan Boyle in the press or news so .... you know what I think is special about this lady " it’s that she walked onto that stage, relatively an unknown person except to her and hers... She was shaking scared nervous " a little sassy, she looked the judges and the audience in the face... then when she heard the first few bars " her whole heart and soul came to the fore and she found her comfort zone " such a beautiful voice and that’s just it " beauty comes from within. She showed the whole world her beauty. She brought me to tears within seconds " I can only imagine the feeling she must have got when the crowd responded to her voice.

Now....... thing is " this lady " well, I hope for her that she gets her dream " tho, by appearing just that once " her dream came true. She’s proven she has the voice " the “makeover”... I’ve only seen the pic you posted LW " I think she looks pretty darn coco. I don’t think she looks too glam or has had anything taken away from her “raw appeal”. Gosh, if someone offered me a makeover " I’d jump at the chance not for them, but for me " good on her I reckon. What I do hope tho, is that she continues to go ahead with Britains Got Talent and not take off to the USA immediately " that could come in time if she is given the opportunity " but me... if I were her, well, I’d wish to show the world through Britain that her talent isn’t a “one off” " this lady could go places " I hope if this is what she wishes for " that it will happen for her.

I actually, tho I don’t like his tone at times, have huge respect for Simon Cowell as someone who I believe “knows a good thing when he sees one” " you can’t go too wrong with Will Young, Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke in my opinion. Other than that, I don’t know who he signs up " I listen to the voice and music " not a record label. That’s why I think Susan Boyle is special " her voice and who she is inside is what’s important. I really hope she sticks with the show " I’d worry that if she’s snapped up by the US immediately, tho that could be fantastic for her, perhaps she might lose a little of “herself”.

Whatever happens " she has IMHO a truly special voice " so does wee Holly Steel.

(hate to say it, but I know nothing about designer labels, record labels or anything “superstar”ish " if someone famous passed me in the street, I probably wouldn’t have a clue Embarrassed Even if I had the most amazing voice in the world - I would never have the courage to do what she did - takes a lot of courage to get up on that stage - if she wishes for fame - she probably will get it - sometimes tho, it's not so much the "fame" that people want, they just want their talent recognised. I hope she remains true to her. A little part of me hopes she doesn't go "Hollywood" - her identity is really important and she'll still have an incredible voice)

Oh....... now as for Julie Andrews......... the hilllllllls arreea aaallliiive.... allalalalallallalallallalaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllaa - so me - except I can't sing a note! Wink

Hey Urs... oh, has been a while.... love and hugs to you and BigDice. x

<apologies Letty..... I talked a lot there a?> Embarrassed

@Izzie,
I think it's a very tasteful makeover and I'm assuming she said she didn't want a makeover by the show as they can go overboard. Boyle could also sing Andrew's classics quite well I'm sure.

@Lightwizard,
Oh I hope so... I think she would be brilliant....

I reckon, as her dream is to sing with Elaine Paige... this would be a top song for her...

<cries.... loves this song>
