Mr. Wizard, I practiced and practiced, but I still ain't ready for Carnegie Hall.

Diana Krall is always the best, and "Love Letters Straight From the Heart" was a marvelous tribute to Nat. What a talented lady. Thanks.(shed a wee tear over that one)

Brit, Fabulous song by Dave Brubeck. Unsquare Dance? Love it!

Well, y'all, we can 't say Dave with playing Paul, right?

Oops, Mr. Wizard, missed your Bill Evans song. Yep, he is one fabulous jazz pianist, buddy. Loved The Days of Wine and Roses by him.

Let's back track a moment. That theme from Black Orpheus has two sets of lyrics.

One is called A Day in the Life of a Fool.

Here's the other.

Carnival
I’ll sing to the sun in the sky,
I’ll sing ‘till the sun rises high,
Carnival time is here,
Magical time of year,
And as the time draws near,
Dreams lift my heart!

I’ll sing as I play my guitar,
I’ll cling to a dream from afar,
Will love come my way,
This Carnival day,
And stay here in my heart?

Will true love come my way,
On this Carnival day,
Or will I be alone with my dream?

Love this one by Bill Evans as well, y'all.

It's a weekend for visitors. Yesterday, my son. Today, my daughter, sister in law and mother in law. But I took out time to post one by Nat.

Not to change gears but I don't know if I was addicted to HBO's Rome for the show or the opening title's music and CGI used as design art:

Britain, Channel 4 and the BBC especially, has the edge on the best telly.

edgar, great choice by Nat. Love was made for not just "you and me" but all of us who choose it. Loved it, Texas.

Wow! Brit. I had no idea that Dudley Moore played great jazz like that. I recall having seen Arthur and, of course, Ten with Bo Derek. Live and learn here on our wee cyber radio.

Izzie, that was a fabulous song by Julian Smith. I noticed that he played soprano sax, and"There's a Time for Us "from Romeo and Juliet was a great choice. Thanks, hun.

Mr. Wizard, I'm not familiar with that TV show, but I can guess it might have had something to do with Caesar. Thanks, buddy.(oops, we forgot the Ides of March)

I'm going to steal one from Barry the Brit now, y'all.

@Letty,
Yes, Rome covered the same material we've seen before in Shakespeare's play made into a movie with Marlon Brando and in the movie "Cleopatra" including another take on the assassination of Julius (not Orange, Caesar, as in Salad). The other title music and credits that kept me watching was HBO's Carnivale -- it was about a mysterious traveling carnival and a possessed pastor, and lasted only three seasons. I love the Tarot cards juxtaposed against the vintage 30's footage:

dys, I am assuming that you meant "Seems so Long Ago Nancy" by Leonard Cohen. Great but sad song, cowboy.

Hey, Brit. Loved the roller coaster ride.(vicariously) You ever been to Disney World? The one thing that I refused to ride was the roller coaster. Not sure why, now. Thanks, buddy. That was fun.

Mr. Wizard, that Carnivale was eerie., and I love Caesar salad with anchovies, but I'll skip the tarot.

Time for me to say goodnight, and this one is a favorite of mine by Nat.

@Letty,
The roller coast was a blast and reminded me of Discovery Channel's Ten Top Coasters which they haven't kept up with -- it scared the hell out of my cat who happened to look up at the screen. Ghost Rider, one of the top ten wooden a few years back, at Knott's Berry Farm, is 5 minutes from my house:

I just want to know one thing -- how come we can see all of this stuff if we are only on the radio?

Morning WA2K,breaking news from Digital Spy....
Decades after the MGs, Booker T takes center stage
AP - 19 April 2009 05:38:19
By RYAN PEARSON
Booker T. Jones was flummoxed by the digital revolution. So he went to school.

The former frontman for the MGs said he was "languishing" and "frustrated" by the shift from analog music recording. He signed up for Pro Tools 101 at San Francisco State University and then upped his confidence with more advanced classes.

A new manager then relaunched his music career -- at the age of 62.

Jones started his resurrection at a South by Southwest jam session with the Drive-By Truckers two years ago. Booker T and the DBTs played again Saturday at the three-day Coachella Music & Arts Festival.

The DBTs "play real funky Southern rock, and they're influenced by some of the music that I played in the past," Jones said in an interview before his set. "And we have a common influence in Neil Young and the fact that we like music that's just a little bit too loud."

They recorded 10 instrumental songs together -- seven originals and three covers -- and the result, "Potato Hole," is due out on Tuesday.

Writing the tunes as a band leader was "a great release for me," Jones said. "There was a lot of stuff that had been waiting to come out."

Jones attended Coachella as a fan two years ago. The day sessions were too hot for him, but he called the nighttime collision of sound, large-scale art installations and crowds "a sort of music in itself."

"I stood in the center of the festival and listened to the cacophony of all the different bands," he said. "That was a song of its own. There was a stage all around me. ... That was an experience like no other."

Jones will perform with the Roots for three nights on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" then head to New Orleans and later to Europe on a tour.

At Coachella on Saturday, he mostly played tunes from "Potato Hole," with a few songs from his famed days with the MGs thrown in.

"I had a fortunate past, and I love the music from my past," Jones said. "But I'm having a great time with what's going on in my present. I'm just in a real good place right now."

Was it worth the wait? Take a listen here....

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

edgar, Leonard Cohen is truly esoteric with many of his songs. Avalance was one of them. Thanks, Texas.

Yikes, Mr. Wizard. A wooden roller coaster? That was fun, however ,and I'm glad that Barry the Brit explained about the visual part.

Listened to Booker T's Pound it Out, Brit. Hmmm, anti YouTube? Well, I'll have to think on that, buddy. Glad that you visited our theme park.

Loved the tour through London especially Stonehenge. I've always claimed that some of my best friends are Druids. Razz

How about a magic carpet ride. I might just prefer that to a roller coaster.

Jes, Welcome back. Love Weird Al's White and Nerdy. Nothing scared with that funny guy. Thanks, Region's disappearing lady.

edgar, Don't recall having heard Isley Brothers, but "Guess I'll Always Love You" was great. Thanks, Texas.

Oh, Where oh Where has my Little Dog Gone? I know that, but it seems different when done in German. Also know My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean. Great oldie, and Thanks again.

Today is Lionel Hampton's birthday, and I love this one, y'all.
