@Letty,
so i tried to find lyrics to THE ASPARAGUS SONG (note my proper spelling ) .
well , here is the result :

AGE OF ASPARAGUS

Quote:
When the ‘shrooms are cooking on the grill
And broccoli meets cheese in pie
Then peas will guide utensils
As clo-oves of garlic fry

http://www.dbskeptic.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/the-age-of-asparagus.jpg

This is the dawning of the Age of Asparagus
The Age of Asparagus
Asparagus! Asparagus!

Carrot halves and arties-choking
Simmer down with peppers smoking
Onions diced and car-melizing
Golden-browning bread is rising
Mystic herbal synthesizing
Is this sounding appetizing
Asparagus! Asparagus!

When legumes are spiced and crazy tricked
And basil leaves are steaming all night
Just please make sure they’re hand-picked
And ta-aste a green delight

Green Giant’s yawning in the Age of Asparagus
The Age of Asparagus
Asparagus! Asparagus!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(chorus repeat)
Eat your collared greens, Eat your collared greens
Your collared greens
Eat your collared greens, Eat your collared greens
Your collared greens
(lead)
Woah, eat your gree-eens
Come on
Now everybody just eat ‘em u-up
And eat up your collared greens
Open up your mou-ou-outh
And eat your collared greens
Your taste buds are lonely
Hey, eat ‘em up
You gotta open up your mou-ou-outh
And eat ya collared greens
And when you feel fast food is callin’
And your friends’ getting faaaaaaat up on ya
Just open up your mouth and eat ya collared greens
You got ta eat it
You got ta eat it
Yeeeaaah, open up your mou-outh, and eat your collared greens
Now lemme show you green things
I want you to eat along with like you crazy grazin’
Hey, open up your mou-ou-ou-outh
Yeeeeeaaaah, come on
And eat your gree-ee-ee-eens
Ev’ry da-a-ay
Hey, you got ta eat it
You got ta ea-ea-eat it
When you open up your mou-ou-outh
You got ta eat your collared greens
Fry it up in the mornin’
And baked in the evenin’
Open up your mou-ou-outh…
PO-TA-TOES
@Letty,
speaking of ANNE MURRAY - she's been around for a while - she seems to be in well deserved semi-retiremeent .
here she sings with someone well known :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQFZtdB5dNw
ANNE MURRAY'S entry in the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MUSIC IN CANADA :
http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Params=U1ARTU0002493
from the entry :
Quote:
More than perhaps any other Canadian performer in the pre-video era, Murray's success was a product of television. Seasoned by regional appearances in her teens, she moved easily into the limelight on national broadcasts beginning on her 21st birthday, and quickly established herself as a fan favourite with her solo spots on Singalong Jubilee until 1970, and Let's Go, CBC Halifax's pop music show, 1967-8. On 4 Oct 1970, she made her US national debut on The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, on which she was a frequent guest until 1974. On 23 Oct 1970, CBC aired the first of many Anne Murray specials. Throughout the 1970s, Murray was a frequent guest on Canadian and US variety shows and other telecasts. Her 1988 Christmas special for the CBC attracted 4.2 million viewers and was also popular in reruns. In 2005, CBC broadcast a career retrospective, featuring commentary by Murray and highlights from many of her television appearances.
would you believe it ?
@hamburger,
hbg, that was the most unusual combination of songs that I have ever heard. "Say a little Prayer" and "By the time I get to Phoenix". Who would have thought that they would intertwine so beautifully.
Well, the wind does blow here, but I think it's time for a small wind instrument, so let's listen to the flute of Jethro Tull.
@Letty,
letty :
here are some canadians playing it "hot & cool " .
rob mcconnel with ed bickert doing some fine guitar work .
we heard ed bickert giving some fine solo performances in the lounge of the ROYAL YARK HOTEL - still about the nicest place to stay when in toronto .
ed liked an appreciative audience . if things got too loud , he knew how to get attention :
@hamburger,
Now that's jazz, hbg.
I fell in love with you
the first time I looked into...them there eyes
You've got a certain way,
a cute way of flirtin with...them there eyes
They make me feel so happy
they make me feel so blue
I'm fallin', no stallin'
Fallin' in a great big way for you
My heart is jumpin'
You started something with...them there eyes
You better look out
Little brown eyes, if you're wise
They sparkle, they bubble
Gonna get you in a whole lotta trouble
OOooo baby....them there eyes...
Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I will do it with another jazz vocalist who knows all the old songs.
Here she is with a great night song, y'all.
Homer and Jethro
They're gonna put me in the Army
They're gonna send me greetin's any day
Ain't no need for me to burn my draft card
'Cause I'm gonna have to go anyway.
Well, I can't tell my ankle from my elbow
They'll put me in the awkward squad, I guess
And when they see my natural stupidity
I bet they send me straight to OCS.
I'll be nervous in the srevice
A soldier I was never meant to be
I'll be the sickest goldbrick in the Army
And all I have to do is act naturally.
Thy're gonna put me on troop ship
Send me where the fightin' is the worst
They can send me anywhere they want to
But they're gonna have to catch me first.
And when them commies start a-shootin' at me
I'm gonna be advancin' to the rear
For I'm a lover-boy, I ain't a fighter
Won't somebody get me out of here.
May-be I can win a medal
Then a happy hero I will be
I'll use extreme precaution under cover
And all I have to do is act naturally.
I hope you'll come and see me in the guardhouse
I'm a prisoner of my Uncle Sam
All I get to eat is bread and water
But I like it better here, than Vietnam.
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.
Missed our Brit's Last Dance last evening. Thanks, buddy. A lovely song.
Izzie and Rocky, great Bangles tunes. Loved Eternal Flame and Walk Like An Egyptian.
Dys, That parody on Buck Owens "Act Naturally" was fantastic. Love Homer and Jethro.
Izzie, Queen's "Love of My Life" was lovely. Nice to hear upon awakening. Thanks, hun.
edgar, that song "Pleasusre of the Harbor" was haunting. Phil Ochs knows how to do that right. Great, Texas, and thanks
Today, let's begin with this one. Love this guy, y'all.
It's going to be one of those Sundays. Everyone is still asleep after a wild Saturday night.
Hmmm. Let's see if we can awaken them with this tribute.
I gots Pricilla Ahn this late morning.
Had to go to meet the owner at my job. Now I have to go buy groceries. If there is time today, then I have to put siding on the end of the house. So, I may not be around as much as normal. We shall see.
