I canceled out on the cookoff for tomorrow. My manager went out of state, the assistant mgr has a personal crisis, the new man is on vacation and the lead man has found something else that needs to be done. I refuse to go by myself.

I have just wathced the Junglebook video. It has always been a story dear to my heart.

Saying good night with Ray Price

Good moring, WA2K radio folks.

Welcome back, JPB. It seems that last evening was Louis Prima time. Loved the version of him doing I Want to be Like You. So many versions of The Jungle Book.

Thanks for the Ray Price song, edgar. Always remember that one by Kris, however.

Up a Lazy River was a great one as well.

I was simply surprised to see that someone else had done that "book" in the real life version besides Sabu. Love how Mowgli faced down the tiger. Supported the fight or flight theory.

Today is Reba McEntire's birthday, so here's a great one by her, y'all.

Morning, radioland. Got to confess right off I don't care for Reba or Jack and Diane. Now, now. Don't spit your morning orange juice at me. Just one of thoe little quirks where tastes differ.

My daughter experienced her first blizzard in Denver this week. This is for her.

Happy weekend to you as well, Izzie and thanks for that John Cougar song. Don't know him, nor Jack, nor Diane, however. Have a great spring cleaning day.

edgar, I love the song Springtime in the Rockies, and I hate to hear that blizzard has to appear as March gives its last roar. Thanks, Texas.

Here's one by John DENVER, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was beautiful and a wonderful tribute to John. Some time back I played The Eagle and the Hawk and dedicated it to Dutchy and Bob Smith. Guess we'll never know what happened to our hawkman, y'all.

Still my favorite by John.

@Letty,
hi letty and all listeners !
it's good to be back .

having a try at another "fish song " ... since we are having panfried salmon ( FROM NOVA SCOTIA ) with a baked sweet potato ( FROM GEORGIA ! ) and aspargus for a very late lunch/early supper , i've been searching for a "salmon song ... and here it is :

Quote:
Tiny salmon swimming in a stream,
Tiny salmon chasing that impossible dream.
The Myna Bird says ahhh ah ahhh,
The chimpanzee says ayeeee,
The friendly owl says whoooo who whoooo,
But the salmon can only say blooo blooo blo blooo blooo blo blooo,
And it's sad

hmmm , it's a little short , but can one expect from TOM GREEN <GRIN>

doesn't this look familiar ?
(no disrespect to tom green intented)

@Letty,
i did a little better with the SWEET POTATO SONG :

Quote:
Be my sweet potato
Be my honey lamb
Dance around the campfire
Hang around a while

Well, i been caught stealin'
Someone else's vibe,
Everybody loves or hates us,
But we're still alive

Chorus:
Well wake up in the morning
Cup of coffee, grab your bags
Jump into the caddie
'cause this tourin' ain't a drag.
They say overrated, educated
I suppose a little jaded.
When i get off this
I think i'm gonna have to be sedated.
So be my sweet potato,
I'll be your honey lamb,
Give me some black tupelo,
I been caught again. ****!

I went to new york city,
But then i come right back,
Everyone was cool there,
I couldn't get no slack
You seen me in the papers,
You seen me in the voice,
I think i'd stay in dixie,
If i had the choice.

Chorus

beg pardon , ladies ... just for the boys ... the OLD boys <GRIN>

@hamburger,
Great to have you back, hbg. The salmon lyrics were fun, buddy as was the Sweet Potato song with that funny picture.

I used to make sweet potato casserole that was marvelous.

Just found out that Anne Murray was originally from Nova Scotia and now lives in Toronto.

Here are the lyrics to her Snowbird song.

Beneath it's snowy mantle cold and clean,
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green.
The snowbird sings the song he always sings,
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring.
When I was young my heart was young then, too.
And anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do.
But now I feel such emptiness within,
For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win.

Spread your tiny wings and fly away,
And take the snow back with you where it came from on that day.
The one I love forever is untrue,
And if I could you know that I would fly away with you.

The breeze along the river seems to say,
That he'll only break my heart again should I decide to stay.
So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go,
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow.

Spread your tiny wings and fly away,
And take the snow back with you where it came from on that day.
The one I love forever is untrue,
And if I could you know that I would fly away with you.
Yeah, if I could I know that I would fly away with you.
