The first few songs Roberta had hits with, I thought I had never heard a sound more wonderful. She still rates very high with me.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Loved Dixie by Jerry Lee. Thanks!

Marty Robbins sang San Angelo just liked one would imagine it should be sung in the old west. The nostalgia of it all, buddy. (incidentally, nostalgia literally means homesickness)

Your songs remind me of the one that I'm going to play as my goodnight song. The sun has long gone down here. It has a funny ending, and that's all right, too.

Goodnight, all.

Good morning. The rain could be over. Good news for the weekend. Got a company chili cookoff Saturday and a meeting with the property owner at work on Sunday.

Well, folks, it seems that today is nonsequitur day on WA2K.

Listened to every single contribution, but this one gave me a smile.

@edgarblythe,
Why thank you, edgar. Oh, you meant the song. Razz

That's one of my favorites as a jazz ballad.

Last evening I was stunned to see a 1994 version of the Jungle Book starring Jason Scott Lee. It was fabulous.

The special affects were marvelous as well.

He also did a movie about Bruce Lee. Loved it, folks.

@Letty,
good evening everybody !
have been absent from this site for a while .
no sound from the speakers - may need a new sound card - but don't feel like lugging the computer to the shop ... yet (but will do ! ) .
hbg

so here are some lyrics for everyone :

Quote:
Cape Cod Shanty
Canadian Eastern Seaboard Folksong Lyrics

Cape cod boys they have no sleds
Heave away, heave away,
They slide down hills on cod fish heads,
We are bound for Australia

Chorus;
heave away my bully, bully boys,
heave away, heave away
Heave away and don‘t you make a noise,
we are bound for Australia

Cape cod girls they have no combs
Heave away, heave away,
They comb their hair with cod fish bones, -
We are bound for Australia

Chorus

Cape cod men they have no sails " heave away, heave away
They sail their boats with cod fish tails "
We are bound for Australia

Chorus

Cape cod women don’t make apple pies " heave away, heave away
They fill their pies with cod fish eyes "
We are bound for Australia

Chorus

Cape cod babies they have no pins " heave away, heave away
They pin their diapers with codfish fins "
We are bound for Australia

Chorus
(Three times, quieter and quieter, last one is loud! )

cod fish eyes , tongues and cheeks are quite a delicacy !

@hamburger,
hbg, Welcome back. Love your shanty. The picture at Big Bend of you and the Mrs. was great.

Incidentally, cod fish eyes is quite a surprise. I've eaten brains and eggs. Delicious.

I was inspired by your Red River Valley to do this one. Bet you know the melody.

Red River Valley
arranged and adapted by Arlo Guthrie

From this valley they say you are going
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathways awhile

CHORUS:
Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true

I've been thinking a long time, my darling
Of the sweet words you never would say
Now, alas, must my fond hopes all vanish
For they say you are gong away

Do you think of the valley you're leaving
O how lonely and how dreary it will be
And do you think of the kind hearts you're breaking
And the pain you are causing to me

CHORUS
They will bury me where you have wandered
Near the hills where the daffodils grow
When you're gone from the Red River Valley
For I can't live without you I know

CHORUS

Maybe she was leavin' 'cause it was flooding.

Razz
Izzie

@Izzie,
Izzie, Welcome back. Love that one by Whitney and enjoyed The Bodyguard as well. Dolly Parton did that one, too.

Well, the squirrel is busy as a bee and the moose is doing disco, and edgar's getting ready for a barbecue, and Letty just found out that it was Quentin Tarantino's birthday. (he did Pulp Fiction)

Bruce Willis was in that movie singing this one by The Statler Brothers, so it will be my goodnight song, folks.(this version in Denmark with the Cash man)
