Thanks for Mario, letty. I once dated a girl who claimed she had known him.
The Fendermen do a lively rendition of Muleskinner Blues.

@edgarblythe,
Loved that one by The Fendermen, edgar. It gave me a smile. Thanks. I used to think a muleskinner was someone who skinned mules. Yikes! (amazing about your former girlfriend that knew Mario.)

Here's one by The Boss that your song brought to mind. Then I'll play one that heralds the end of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

This one is supposed to be by Jim and The Sacred Hearts, but couldn't locate that so this one is comparable, y'all.

We used to sing the Erie Canal song in grammer school. Don't recall the year.
They just wrapped up Galveston Mardi Gras. They did pretty well, in spite of the hurricane.

@edgarblythe,
well, edgar. They did well in New Orleans in spite of the recession.

Stole this one from Barry the Brit. It is truly dry here. Also Tumbling Tumbleweed.

Carrying on with the theme suggested by Muleskinner, here is THe Ox Driving Song, by the Brothers Four.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, didn't Paul Bunyan have a blue ox named Babe? Liked that folk song by The Brothers Four, Texas.

Following along with the oxen, here's an unexpected twist, folks.

Ah, edgar, now I recognize the Brothers Four. They did The Green Leaves of Summer. Know that Yellow Bird as well. Thanks, Texas.

dj, Welcome back. You are so right, Canada. Get Cape Wear Cape Fly is an unusual name for Samuel Duckworth. Ah, the caped crusaders will never die. The song was very unusual, but I, for one, liked it.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with an easy listening jazz piece by Bill Evans replete with lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxRIBrn9g-U&feature=related

A country dance was being held in a garden
I felt a bump and heard an "Oh, beg your pardon"
Suddenly I saw - polka dots and moonbeams
All around a pug-nosed dream
The music started, and was I the perplexed one
I held my breathe, and said "May I have the next one?"
In my frightened arms - polka dots and moonbeams
Sparkled on a pug-nosed dream

There were questions in the eyes of other dancers
As we floated over the floor
There were questions but my heart knew all the answers
And perhaps a few things more

Now in a cottage, built of lilacs and laughter
I know the meaning, of the words: "ever after"
And I'll always see polka dots and moonbeams
When I kiss my pug-nosed dream

As always,

From Letty with love

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, Oscar Peterson did that one as well, and I was right. His voice was almost identical to Nat Cole's.

Hey, Brit. I had to check out The Goonies. Great kid's movie as I recall. Thanks! (sixty degrees here)

Wow! Alain Clark was great. What a surprise to find out that he was from Haarlem in the Netherlands. Didn't know there was such a place.

Today is George Harrison's birthday, so how about a memory and a great one by the "Quiet Beatle".

I saw Jack Lemon today, in a serious role. Made me think of this song from one of his films.
Renoir. Fabulous.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that movie was the first time that I ever heard the allusion to a "dry alcoholic". Thanks for that song, buddy, and it was beautifully done by "the Bond lady."

It's Faron Young's birthday today, too.

I recall this one by him

Yeah, I like some of Faron Young's songs, and that one's the best - Written by Willie Nelson.

Got Ferlin Husky. He recorded in the 1950s under a diferent name. Can't recall who he was in that incarnation.

@edgarblythe,
I remember that, edgar, but I didn't know who did it.

Are you saying that Willie Nelson wrote "Hello Walls"?

Odd that you should play a hymn, buddy. I was sitting here listening to this one. I know the English lyrics, and perhaps our audience does.

http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=_eTIa1KSkeI&feature=related.

a partial phrase from the first line is "Be still my soul".

Willie wrote Hello Walls, and the local oldies station has taken to playing his record of it, instead of Faron Young's. I prefer Faron's record, but Willie's is fine, also.
