@barrythemod,
Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

Hey, Brit. Welcome back. Never heard One Eskimo before, but Kandi was great as was Tracy Chapman. Thanks, modman.

I meant to tell our audience that Raggedyaggie is unable to do her picture montage as she is having repairs done to her little studio and needs to keep her equipment covered. We miss you, puppy.

edgar, what a surprise to find that this guy wrote Scarlet Ribbons as well as When Sunny Gets Blue. (the version of the ribbons by Harry was awesome, incidentally)

How about this version of blue sunny by the same woman that did "Johnny Get Angry". Had no idea the woman could sing such a lovely jazz ballad, y'all.

Joanie Sommers has a good way with a song. Also like Barry's songs (I have Tracy's first three albums).

edgar, thanks for the Cowboy Copas Alabam song. I think my country cousins know him, but I'll have to check with cousin Pat.

Have a nice day, Brit? UhOh. Thanks for that version, Barry. Razz

When are folks going to learn that there is always the wild side of animals.

HARTFORD, Conn. " A highly trained 200-pound chimpanzee who once starred in TV commercials for Old Navy and Coca-Cola was shot dead by police after a violent rampage that left a friend of its owner badly mauled.

Sandra Herold, who owned the 15-year-old chimp named Travis, wrestled with the animal after it inexplicably attacked her friend Charla Nash, 55.

Nash had gone to Herold's home to help her coax the chimp back into the house after he got out, police said. After the animal lunged at Nash when she got out of her car, Herold ran inside to call 911 and returned armed.

"She retrieved a large butcher knife and stabbed her longtime pet numerous times in an effort to save her friend, who was really being brutally attacked," said Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin.

Nash was in critical condition Tuesday after suffering what Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy called "life-changing, if not life-threatening," injuries to her face and hands.

The rest of the story, folks.

Which leads us to Ian Anderson again, y'all.

The last article I saw on the chimp, he was on medicine. I wonder about giving human medicine to animals.

@edgarblythe,
That chimp had limes/lymes disease, ,caused by a deer tick. Remember that outbreak, Texas?

Loved that Marty song. The first one that I ever heard by him was Big Iron. Strange, I was thinking about Bobby Darin and Kevin Spacey. Also about Joaquin Phoenix and Johnny Cash. Lots of folks think Joaquin has gone off the deep end.

Today is Lou Diamond Phillips birthday, and he did the Ritchie Valens movie. More synchronicity, I guess.

Here is Lou doing La Bamba.

I've seen the Lou Diamond Phillips film three or four times, letty. The actor who played Richie Valens' brother pretty much stole the film, for me at least.

I think Joaquin will be a spectacular failure and have to salvage what he can by backtracking to his earlier achievements.

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar. I didn't see the movie so I'll accept your view, Texas. Joaquin stole the show from Russell Crowe in Gladiator as well. I hope he gets it together. Maybe he's just playing a joke on all of us.

Strange, y'all, today is Jose Jose's birthday. I have never heard him, but he is Mexican and fabulous. I guess it's one of those odd days.

Let's listen.

some rock, of the rolling variety

guided by voices - i am a tree

I am a tree - I show my age when I don't cry
I have the leaves that will fall off when wind blows by
Don't strip off my bark - I have been stripped of it before
Yesterday's gone and tomorrow has so much more in store

You are a bird - you're taking off in every way
Say the last word until there is nothing more to say

Don't interrupt - you know the squirrels are my friends
Get off my limb - for I will break before I bend

I'm planning to see
I'm planning to feel you all over me
So climb up my trunk and build on your nest
Come and get the sap out if me
I am a tree!
Fruitless and free!
No symmetry!
Touch me and see!

I am a tree - counting my rings will do no good
I won't live long but I would be with you if I could
When you take flight, remember me to one who lives there
Since you have flown, there's something special in the air

@djjd62,
Is this the kind of rolling rock that you are talking about, dj?

http://justbeer.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/rolling-rock.gif

I love your tree song, Canada, and the lyrics say so much.

Here's an apple tree song by Julie London, folks, to compliment dj's and it was composed by Johnny Mercer.

@djjd62,
I see that David Letterman thought that the three guys got their name from rapid eye movement as well, dj. Thanks for Radio Free Europe and Central Rain. Noticed that they also did, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." Not here in a long time.

Well, folks, our Urs and BigDice are tired of the sleet and snow and cold so they are going to the spa tomorrow; so speaking of rapid eye movement (that's how therapists tell when an individual is dreaming) it's time for me to say goodnight, and I think I shall do it with some Night Music by Mozart. For them, and for me, here he is, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio land.

edgar I loved that song by Richie Havens. Not familiar with him, however. Also fascinated with his version of "Follow the Drinkin' Gourd" which is, of course, the big dipper. Strange that I explained to Roberto's daughter about that constellation and even drew her a picture. She remained with me most of the evening asking questions and taken with the idea of it.

Good morning, letty. Richie was at Woodstock, and he has had a few hit songs, such as a cover of the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun. Makes me recall Country Joe and the Fish.
