Those who at one time watched or listened to Father Knows Best will remember that "Father's" daughter was fond of daydreaming that she looked like Ava Gardner.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

My word, edgar, I had no idea that Gentleman Jim did that one. Thanks, buddy.

Hey, Brit. Don't know Leon Jackson, but he has a great voice. "Star Gazing" is rather timely this morning since NASA reports that two big sattelites collided over Siberia. Hope we don't see stars from the fallout.

Frankly, Barry of England, I think Tom Jones looks better, and I liked the song "Give a Little Love".

Dear Glen Campbell. Never heard that song, but "These Days" is a condition that never changes. Thanks again, London, and I'm glad that you get to see the boss man. Urs and Bigdice have to wait until July.

Well, today is Charles Darwin's birthday, folks, so let's hear a tribute to the man who has caused such a fuss all around the globe.

@Barry The Mod,
Hmmm. Had I closed my eyes and just listened, I would have sworn that King Floyd was a woman. The voice does not go with the gender.

Thanks, edgar and Barry the Brit. Neat funk.

Let's look at the other side of Darwin, shall we?

Then, there are the agnostics who aren't sure about either.

Strange, all. TCM just had a tribute to Spencer Tracy by Burt Reynolds, and a clip included the Scopes monkey trial. The name of the movie was "Inherit the Wind." Hmmm. Tomorrow is Friday 13th. UhOh.

word for today but meant for tomorrow.

There are some who acknowledge evolution, while maintaining religious faith. In Inherit the Wind, the writer has Spencer Tracy (Jack Lemon, Kirk Douglas, depending on which version you watch) take up Darwin in one hand and a Bible in the other, and he smiles and leaves the building with them. While I am not sure Clarence Darrow ever did that, it makes a nice conciliatory touch.

@edgarblythe,
Really liked Moe Bandy, edgar. Found this one by him as well.

Frankly, I think the entire conciliatory bit is just politics as usual. Sorry, guess I'm just jaded.

@edgarblythe,
Hilarious, edgar. I love the oxymoron of the performer, and the song was good, Texas.

I had forgotten that today is Abe's birthday, so let's continue with the fun and then we'll be serious.

And a tribute. What a surprise to find out that Dixie was Lincoln's favorite song, folks.

Lincoln is usually described as ugly. To me, his face has way too much character to be ugly. I have never had such a thought in mind when looking at his photo or at the monument in Washington.

@edgarblythe,
I don't think any of us view our presidents as hunks, edgar. We're more concerned with how they lead or have led us. Lincoln was a marvelous politician and everything that he did was done to preserve The Union.

Hmm, wonder where our Raggedy is hiding.

Today is Josh Brolin's birthday, folks.

Josh J. Brolin[1] (born February 12, 1968) is an American film and television actor. He has acted in theater, film and television roles for over 23 years. He won acting awards for his roles in the films No Country for Old Men and Milk. His other notable films from 2007 to 2008 include In the Valley of Elah, and American Gangster..

Here is one about him as Wild Bill Hickok, y'all

Wild Bill is one of my favorite old west characters. As colorful as he was, none of the films with him ever seem to get close to telling his story. Some have been very entertaining, but I have long wished for more.

Dear Izzie, I am so glad that you are home, and that song by Leona Lewis was lovely. She's a great vocalist. Thank you, Miss Brit.

edgar, here is just a bit of news about Wild Bill

August 2, 1876, Wild Bill sat down to a poker game and took a seat with his back to the saloon. Jack McCall shot him in the back of the neck, killing him instantly. Wild Bill was holding 2 black aces, 2 black eights, now known as the Dead Man's Hand. The fifth card has been held up for speculation but was probably the queen of diamonds.
1877, Jack McCall was hanged in Custer City for the death of James Butler (Wild Bill) Hickok.
His romance with Calamity Jane was exaggerated, but they are buried beside each other

Time for me to say goodnight, and I can't think of anyone better than Nat to do it for me.

Yes, all. Let There Be Love

From Letty with love
