@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, I had to check that out to see why it was a no, no. My word, Britney was difficult to understand and I do believe that the very young know more about that than we do, Texas.

Good to see Rockhead back again, and if we only knew about the hawk man, our search would be complete.

Two of my favorite folks were born on this day, so let's listen to both, shall we?

First, Rutger(we'll dedicate this to Dutchy. Had no idea that Rutger was from the Netherlands)

Next, Ernie

Good Morning Letty and all Very Happy

Loved the old Hank Snow and Ben Colder.

Sarah is one of my favorites, so since you like her as well, another mellow one to start off the day.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, Texas. Love that Paul Simon song. Never heard it, however. Thanks.

Just found out some very interesting facts, folks. Today is Django Reinhardt's birthday and he was Belgium; however, he died in France and was pronounced DOA at the hospital near Fontainebleau. Django is a gypsy sobriquet.

Here's a great one done for him.

Puppy, Welcome back! Wow! That SVU lady is Jane Mansfield's daughter? Thanks for the great octet of famous folks and so glad all is up and running, PA

I think John Hancock wrote his name in very large letters so that King George could read it without his spectacles.

edgar, I love that Statler Brothers song. Randolph Scott looks a bit like my daddy.

A couple of themes from productions in which a couple of our puppy's famous faces starred, y'all.

Buffy Sainte-Marie with Poppies.
I had thought about going to Dallas this weekend, but decided it wise to go next week. I like the videos, letty, but never watched the shows. I looked for a good Dan Duryea clip, but none really seemed to do him justice. I have always loved the type of character actor he was. I used to see certain movies more for him than the major star. I bet no one remembers he did a TV series called China Smith, set in pre vietnam what was it? Indochina? Not great, by any means. But I watch some things for the actors and not production values.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was one of the most captivating songs by Buffy that I have ever heard, and the lyrics were beautiful. Thanks for that, Texas.

Well, just like Richard Widmark, I know Dan Duryea, but simply cannot recall anything that I have seen him in. Here's a link, however.

Time for me to say goodnight, and in searching for the history of Vietnam, I came across this lovely lady who has a wonderful voice, so I shall let her sing my song for me.

Glad all of our animals are well and with us again, and my son medical procedure went well.

Rocky, I missed your contribution yesterday. I love that song by Joe and the great tenor. Sorry, Kansas. I have been a bit preoccupied of late

edgar, Pat sounds pretty good on that one. Thanks, Texas.

Good morning, WA2K folks. Today is Neil Diamond's birthday, and what a surprise to discover that he did a remake of The Jazz Singer.

Here's a song from that movie, y'all.

@Dutchy,
Dutchy, Welcome back. I think Sweet Caroline was written with Caroline Kennedy in mind. Love that song, incidentally. One of my favorite threads was the Where Am I one. It wasn't a game to me, it was a learning experience. As Francis Bacon noted: God invented war to teach Americans geography. Unfortunately, the failure of people to take their appropriate turn killed it for me.

I knew there was some reason that I liked James Taylor, y'all, and here is one part of my admiration.

NEW YORK " She's got a friend.
James Taylor said he will give a California woman a brand new music player loaded with his songs to replace the one she said she had to give up to a taxi driver when her credit card was declined after a trip to the airport last month.
Natalie Lenhart, 20, said officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport made her give the $140 iPod nano to the driver as payment for the $49 ride from Manhattan on Dec. 8. The driver said he'd return her iPod for the fare.
Lenhart's red iPod was loaded with oldies, including songs by the folk singer. Taylor has written classics such as "You've Got a Friend" and "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)." Taylor said he might upgrade Lenhart's device to an iPhone.

In spite of his addiction, he made it.

Good morning, Miss Letty. I was a take-him-or-leave-him Neil Diamond fan until last fall when I became aware of his altruism towards the folks in Houston after Ike. Then a became a BIG fan.

Quote:
NEIL DIAMOND DONATES MORE THAN $200,000 TO THE GULF COAST IKE RELIEF FUND
Houston, TX - October 15, 2008 - Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond pledged to donate 100% of merchandise sales from his October 14th concert at Houston's Toyota Center to benefit The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund. He then topped his offer by telling his Houston audience that he would match the amount they spent on merchandise that night. The contribution totaled more than $200,000

JPB, Welcome back, and you are right about Neil Diamond. What they do is often far greater than what they sing. Thanks for "Forever in Bluejeans". It's a reminder of the simple side in all of us.

Hey, Raggedy. Thanks again for the wonderful montage of famous folks, and the additional info. Always refreshing to see our puppy here.

Strange that John Belushi died of the same "speedball" that got River Phoenix.

Since today is John's birthday, here is a tribute to the funny man of yesterday.
