@edgarblythe,
Yes, edgar, it seems that our contributors have gone astray. Thanks for the Robin Luke songs. I'm not familiar with him, but he did liven up the place.Placido is hard to beat.

Our Raggedy pup is having trouble with her new pc, and I have sent her some help via the wizard of light. Hope it helps.

Today is Gillian Chung's birthday. She is a Hong Kong beauty, y'all.

Here's a great song by her and Kenny Kwan. Don't know them, but it's nice to see new faces and here new music on our little radio station.

That's an interesting video and song, letty. While my hearing is not 100%, I can now hear the phone and people don't have to repeat themselves that often. All in all, it has been an off day, but I can't explain why.

@edgarblythe,
Strange, edgar. When I research for the natal day of famous people, I often get incorrect data. Well, no matter. We'll read this poem by George Gordon, Lord Byron whose birthday is tomorrow. (I guess). What a gruesome life he led, but his poetry was fabulous.

http://www.scotsindependent.org/features/quotations/George%20Gordon%20Byron.jpg

She Walks in Beauty

She walks in beauty like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to the tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One ray the more, one shade the less
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress
Or softly lightens o'er her face,
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek and o'er that brow
So soft, so calm yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow
But tell of days in goodness spent
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent.

-- Lord Byron, (George Gordon)

And Now, The Razzies!

They hate them! They really, really hate them!

Comedian Mike Myers and Paris Hilton led the nominations on Wednesday for the annual Razzie Awards, the prizes for the most dismal films of the year.

Myers' box office flop "The Love Guru" earned seven nominations, while Hilton snagged three nods: for her role in "Repo: The Genetic Opera," and for her acting and being part of Hollywood's worst screen couple in the flawed robot love story "The Hottie & The Nottie."

Others leading the race for the worst of the worst included the parodies "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans," which earned six nominations for their doubly untalented writer-director team; "In the Name of the King" with five; and director M. Night Shyamalan's "The Happening" with four.

Uwe Boll, director of "In the Name of the King," will receive the first Worst Career Achievement Razzie since 1987.

Hollywood's hottest stars were not immune from the Razzie, with Kate Hudson earning nods for "Fool's Gold" and "My Best Friend's Girl," Mark Wahlberg in "The Happening" and "Max Payne," and Al Pacino in "88 Minutes" and "Righteous Kill."

Nearly 700 voters select Razzie nominees, timed to come out a day before Oscar nominations.

@edgarblythe,
Love those Razzies, edgar. Wow! Mr. Wizard was right. 88 minutes was on your list.

Here's one to match your worst awards, Texas.

1.. WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP?
AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership. He received a $26 million severance package. Perhaps it's not Walter who's lacking intelligence

2. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS.
Police in Oakland , CA spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting , " Please come out and give yourself up".

3. WHAT WAS PLAN B???:
An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, where the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts.

4. THE GETAWAY!
A man walked into a Topeka , Kansas Kwik Stop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small , so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

5. DID I SAY THAT???
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words: 'Give me all your money or I'll shoot', the man shouted, 'that's not what I said!'

6. ARE WE COMMUNICATING???
A man spoke frantically into the phone: 'My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart'. 'Is this her first child?' the doctor asked. 'No!' the man shouted, 'This is her husband!'

7. NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED!
In Modesto , CA , Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun. Unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket. (hellooooooo)!

8. THE GRAND FINALE!!!
Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.
READ ON
NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE.
Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

Grand Ole Opry star “Little” Jimmy Dickens has been moved from a Nashville-area hospital to a rehabilitation center to recuperate from surgery.

The 88-year-old Dickens underwent surgery Jan. 13 to repair a subdural hematoma, a form of brain injury.

Opry publicist Jessie Schmidt says Dickens anticipates a short stay in the rehab center.

The 4-foot-11 entertainer has been a member of the Opry since 1948. His hits include Country Boy, A-Sleeping at the Foot of the Bed and May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose.

Montana, you and I go way back, and I hope you win, girl.

Izzie, Glad that you liked the tribute to Coldplay, and that song was great. Thanks, Miss Brit.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, and I think we all could use a little "Kindly Light" tonight.

From the pen of Cardinal Newman..

Good morning. The Jimmy Dickens song was new to me. Different than I would expect from him. Cold Play and Newman - not bad. I may go to Dallas on Friday or Saturday. Not certain yet.

@edgarblythe,
Morning, edgar. My word, Texas, I had forgotten that series. Great tribute, however. I tried to find "May the Bird of Paradise Fly up Your Nose", but it was forbidden.

My bird of paradise:

Here is something odd, folks. Today is Balthazar Getty's birthday, and Balthazar was one of the wisemen. That kindly light must have led us here.

I had no idea that the man played in so many films, nor that he had a band.

A tribute to him, y'all.

The Dallas TV show was being developed for the movies and starring John Travolta as JR Ewing. I don't know if it is still in the works, since it was pretty far back that I read about it.
