@Letty,
Olivier Martinez

Martinez was born in Paris, France to a working-class family. His father was a Spanish professional boxer born in Morocco[1] and his mother was a French secretary. He studied at the prestigious CNSAD and began his acting career in his native France in 1990, and quickly achieved a relative success. Martinez was raised Catholic. [2]

In 1994, Martinez won a César Award as "Most Promising Actor" for his role in Un, Deux, Trois, Soleil, (1993). He first came to mainstream attention in Hollywood films with his performance opposite Diane Lane in Unfaithful (2002). He has since appeared in a television adaptation of The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone (2003), S.W.A.T. (2003) and Taking Lives (2004). He also starred as Gabriel in the 2007 movie adaptation of Blood and Chocolate, a popular book.

Olivier Martinez had a four-year-long relationship with Australian singer Kylie Minogue that ended in 2007. Although he was quoted as having supported Minogue during her ordeal with breast cancer, there were numerous reports that he was cheating throughout the relationship with several women, including Michelle Rodriguez and Salma Hayek. He was linked with Israeli model and actress Sarai Givati[3] and Penelope Cruz, leading to the break up with Minogue.

In February 2008, there was much media speculation about the relationship between Minogue and Martinez when they were seen together in Paris. Minogue was later quoted as saying "I had dinner with my ex-boyfriend and next thing I know there's a debate about whether we're having a family. We didn't even talk about that."

Olivier Martinez sued several websites for describing fictitious aspects of his private life. Three French websites, including the Digg-like Fuzz.fr were condemned for publishing a link towards another website where aspects of his private life were described. On its judgment of 27 March 2008, the court ordered the founder of Fuzz.fr to pay 1000 euros (despite Martinez having asked for more than 35k €). The tribunal indicated that the content of fuzz.fr was based on an editorial decision, even if it is a Digg-like content[4]. He is currently dating Spanish actress Goya Toledo.

He has a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog called Sheba who was credited as helping Minogue through her cancer battle. She often goes back to Paris just to walk her and spend time with her.
Very Happy

On his Myspace blog, Kirk Douglas posted the following:

Belated Thank You for Birthday Wishes
Current mood: hopeful

I thank everyone that remembered the birthday I tried to forget. But 92 years old is not so bad. With MySpace I'm getting more and more friends and I like it. You can never have too many friends.
I like very much friends who agree with me or disagree with me. Thank God this is a free country and you can express your views. The only thing wrong with my birthday is that it comes after Christmas. So, sometimes when a person sends me a gift for my birthday, they think it also includes Christmas.
I am busy working on my one man show. I think that everyone who reaches over 90 years of age and has a problem with their speech should do a one man show. I hope I finish it.

@edgarblythe,
Miss Tony resembles Ertha Kitt, edgar. I like Smoke Gets in Your eyes, Texas. It originated in the musical Roberta.

Don't know if I like Oliver or not. Never saw him in Unfaithful or anything else.

Someone in our vast audience of A2K was talking about the Rothchilds. Wish I could afford a bit of Lafite Rothchilds(I think that is pronounced Rothshield), but I had to make do with Merlot this evening. Amazing about Kirk Douglas. Hang in there buddy.

Well, all, time for me to say goodnight. Think I shall do so with two great songs.

First, The World I Used to know by Glenn whose voice is unusual. The critics refer to the sound as timbre, I call it vibrato.

Then, inspired by dlowan, Chopin.

Goodnight world,

From Letty with love

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio.

edgar, I have really learned to appreciate Johnny's voice, and that was a great song. There's something about minor keys that is intriguing, folks.

Today is Orlando Bloom's birthday, so let's hear one by him.

Frankly, I like Billy Joel's "My Life" better, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Don't care much for Orlando either, edgar(neither Bloom or Florida Razz ) Like that Fats song, and it's literally raining here! Just the thing to make my dollar weed flourish.

Here's a sample of life's irony, folks. Ricky gone; Fats still here:

@edgarblythe,
Strange, edgar. I just found out two things. First, that Kirk Douglas starred in a movie called Young Man with a horn. It was based on the life of Bix Biderbeck. Bud's friend, Lawerence Watkins played that song, and I just came across a picture of him in a very old picture of Bud and his jazz buddies. I think this song was done in the movie, now I find that Rick Nelson did it as well, as did many jazz musicians. Here's the instrumental followed by the lyrics, y'all.

I've heard better jazz than that, but I love the song.

The very thought of you
I forget to do
Those little ordinary things
That everyone ought to do
Im livin in a kind of a daydream
Im happy as a queen
And foolish though it may seem
To me thats everything
The mere idea of you
The longing here for you
Youll never know
How slow the moments go
Till Im near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
Its just the thought of you,
The very thought of you, my love

Good afternoon.

I saw Young Man With a Horn many years ago and I loved it. Harry James played the trumpet for Kirk. I'm not a jazz fan (sorry Letty) , but I loved the Harry James movie theme. (It's not on Youtube) Very Happy

Saw your comments about Olivier and Oliver and am a bit confused. Very Happy

Olivier Martinez is an actor and as far as I know doesn't sing.

Oliver was a singer. I liked his version of Jean and Good Morning Starshine from Hair.

Here's Oliver:

Sorry I couldn't get here to post the birthdays today. Sorry, I don't have time to do it now. I hope I didn't miss anybody.

Have a good evening all.
