Good afternoon all.

Don't be concerned about Sarah, Letty. I'm sure she has a pal in Saks.

Some January 11 birthdays:

In 1953 Paton founded the South African Liberal Party, which fought against the apartheid legislation introduced by the National Party. In 1951 he recorded his first solo hits, "Thinking of You" and "Belle, Belle, My Liberty Belle", the latter of which had a better-selling version by Guy Mitchell. In 1955 came his biggest hit, "Band of Gold". He had three more hits in 1956 ("Wild Cherry", "Ghost Town" and "Namely You"), all of them backed by orchestra leader Ray Conniff. He was also the voice of the "Mr. Clean" commercials during the late 1950s and early 60s.); 1930 - Rod Taylor, Australian-born American actor(H.G. Wells' The Time Machine (1960) and Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), Sunday in New York (1963), Fate is the Hunter (1964), Young Cassidy (as the young Sean O'Casey, 1965), The Glass Bottom Boat (1966) with Doris Day, et al ; 1942 - Clarence Clemons, American musician (E Street Band) ;1946 - Naomi Judd, American singer ; and 1972 - Amanda Peet, American actress, (The Whole Nine Yards (2000) brought her recognition and she was named one of People's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". @Raggedyaggie,
Hey, puppy. I'm still reading the info that you sent us. That always challenges my need to research, especially Alan Paton. (hmmm, wonder why?) I wonder if Don does the same version of "Thinking of You" that Andy Russell did.

Thanks for the quintet of famous faces, PA.

Here is one of my favorites by Don that we used to sing all the time, folks.

@urs53,
urs, thanks for accepting our invitation. Also great to see you here, Germany.

Loved that song by The Boss. Interesting because REAL wrestling is a lot different from the fake stuff, right?

Here's a tribute to Rod Taylor, y'all.

@Rockhead,
Speaking of Falling Behind, Rock, I guess I have. That was a rather sad song, Kansas, but one that causes us to remember. Thanks, buddy.

Here's another memory, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know reddy, but I remember Eddie, Texas.

Did you know that Rod Taylor was an artist?

Check out his site, y'all.

I like Rod's art better than his acting. I also didn't know Eddie did Country Road.

@edgarblythe,
Me neither, edgar. I vaguely remember The Time Machine, but I had no idea Rod was in The Birds. Worst adaptaion of a movie from a novelette/short story that I have ever seen.

Let's refresh our memory, folks.

Izzie, yes, hun. Anything is Possible. Loved that song. What a nice-looking young man singing it. Thanks, Miss Brit. Razz

edgar, I am continually amazed at what a great voice Roy Hamilton possesses. Different rhythm to that song. I like the change of pace, Texas.

Wow! Clint Eastwood has topped the box office with Grand Torino. I watched a clip of the movie, but there are a lot of bad words in it. That will be his last movie. What a guy. Here's the theme from it.

@Rockhead,
Rocky, Somehow, that song reminds me of my family. Ah, the Judd sisters. Awesome! Thanks, Kansas.

Just had a big bowl of Chili Con Carne and garlic bread, so I'm fat and full, folks.

Incidentally, edgar, I asked my Mexican friend, Dan, what that meant, and he told me that it means the beans had meat in them. Often, some families were too poor to afford that luxury.

Thinking of the ocean waves upon the sand here. I have never seen the Atlantic so calm and multi-colored.

Time to say goodnight, so I think that I will let Jo Stafford do it for me.

Glad the dys will be going home tomorrow and that Merry Andrew is well.

as always,

From Letty with love

Fugees

http://www.wyclef.com/
Wyclef Jean, who performed as a member of the Fugees, then forged a solo career, was on 60 Minutes tonight. I was greatly impressed with this Haitian immigrant. Particularly the fact he has not turned his back on the people he was a child among. He established a program that helps feed and clothe thousands. He wants the children to have a chance in the world.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience and contributors.

edgar, really enjoyed that version of "Killing me Softly" by the Fugees. I guess we all know that was about Don McLean, and the song about a Haitian immigrant was excellent, Texas. Thanks!

I guess Rocky must think that Letty lives in a vacuum, 'cause I did not know that song was from "The Wrestler". Love Mickey Rourke, and I am so glad that he has made a comeback. Also glad that the best song by "The Boss" was chosen.

Did a quick search about the Globes and found this one from Slumdog, y'all.

Hope the Prince got to see it.
