Thanks, puppy, for the great octet. Wonder how you say, "back later" in Hawaiian? I noticed that Don Ho pronounced the "w" as a "v", too. That was a surprise.

edgar, I really like listening to B.B. Like that one especially, Texas, but I think, "Stand by Me" is a favorite of mine. I guess it's because I liked River Phoenix.

Tried to find a great quote by Al Capp, but the one that I was looking for was missing.

If our listeners recall, I became inspired by edgar's reference to Neal Hefti and found this great version of Little Darlin'

I love Louis Prima's frantic style. This is a song I never heard him do before.

Good afternoon to yall. On another thread, irrelevant to the topic as is our wont,
I made reference to the radio comedy team of Bob and Ray.
I quoted what I think was a sig line from that show: "Write if you get work and hang by your thumbs." Am I alone in remembering that?

edgar, I had no idea that Louis Prima did "The Happy Wanderer". Thanks for his version of the song.

Well, I'll declare, folks. Here's John of Virginia. Welcome back, buddy. My older sister is always saying "Hang by your thumbs." Didn't know that Bob and Ray were responsible for that funny.

Here's another by that deadpan duo, RJB.

Rambin' Jack Elliot is a unique individual. In the early 60s, Bob Dylan was called "The poor man's Ramblin' Jack." That was before he became a superstar. These days, Ramblin' Jack keeps pluggin' along.

@edgarblythe,
Here's another surprise by Nat Cole, and it's great, edgar. Will also make it my goodnight song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBmZ1pgYdcc&feature=related

And the translation:

"Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps"

I am always asking you
When, how and where
You always tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

The days pass this way
And I am despairing
And you, you always answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

You are wasting time
Thinking, thinking
That which you want most
Until when? Until when?

The days pass this way
And I am despairing
And you, you always answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

You are wasting time
Thinking, thinking
That which you want most
Until when? Until when?

The days pass this way
And I am despairing
And you, you always answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

Perhaps tomorrow, all.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio folks.

edgar, that was adapted from a spiritual, right? Love it, Texas.

Gonna lay down my burden,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside,

.......

Gonna lay down my sword and shield, etc.

Well, folks, today is Jerry Lee Lewis' birthday, and since we heard a Spanish song by Nat last evening, how about one from Jerry in Spain.

Good morning. Got to add another by Jerry Lee. Truth be told, I didn't expect him to survive so many years.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar, I liked that "middle age crazy" song, and I noticed that Jerry Lee also did a song about Milwakee Famous. Remember the baseball pun about the beer that made Mel Famee walk us? <groan>

Wow! All them Italians can sing and they're good ceiling painters as well. Buddy Greco did that one almost as good as Frank Sinatra.

Razz

Here's a morning song, folks, and a bit of the classical to start the day.

Ah, Gene Autry - one of my childhood favorites. I always like to point out his version of this song was the first.

Stanley Kramer was associated with lots of films that I've enjoyed. How about this one, with Marlon Brando?

Thanks, O puppy of blue for the quintet of notables. (hmmm. Wasn't there a dog named old blue?)

edgar, I didn't know that Gene was first with "Blueberry Hill", but it seems that all roads lead to Lee, 'cause he did Mexacali Rose, too.

Here it is by Gene, folks.

Don't think this one with Brando was Stanley K., but I really liked it, y'all.

@Letty,
Hello, Letty, welcome back.

Where are our animals? No squirrel; no moose; no hawk; Perhaps if we talk to them they will return, folks.

Incidentally, I'm still solvent. Hope y'all are. Razz and that's my financial report.

Time for me to say goodnight, and this will be my song for those who are missing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-mM71GvZgg

Incidentally, I wanted to tell edgar to tell Reyn that he is King of the Road.

Tomorrow, world

From Letty with love
