@edgarblythe,
I know that song as well, edgar, and checked out the group. They are icelandic, and here's another from them.

I think we've lost a lot of friends to politics.

@Letty,
I have collapsed every political thread I've encountered. Lots of x'd out threads now. I was getting very upset at the tone of it all, plus it is so slow moving, I have lost patience with everything about it. I have registered to vote by mail; my mind is made up; why fret and stew? Now I will listen to your song, letty.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience of two. Thanks, edgar, for the Johnny Ray rain song. I recall him, buddy.

Thomas Nast was born on this day and we can blame him for this logo, folks.

Also, The Beach Boys did "I Get Around" in 1964.

Here's a good morning song. It's a good "new start" type of song, I think.

This is Bob Dylan in a Victoria Secrets commercial. If you don't want to see the typical suggestive scenes VS is noted for, you may skip it.

@edgarblythe,
CONNIE HAINES

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) " Big-band singer Connie Haines, who performed with Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in the 1940s, has died. She was 87.

Haines died Monday of a neuromuscular disease, according to Unity Church of Clearwater.

Haines was born Yvonne Marie Antoinette JaMais in Savannah, Ga. She started singing when she was 5. As a teenager, she teamed with Sinatra on "Oh, Look at Me Now," "Snootie Little Cutie" and "You Might Have Belonged to Another" with the Dorsey band.

Haines also made movies, appearing in "The Duchess of Idaho" in 1950. In the mid-1940s, she toured with comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. She also performed for presidents Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Good afternoon WA2K. Sorry, I couldn't make it to the station yesterday.

Some September 27 birthdays:

William Conrad (1920-1994); Jayne Meadows (1920); Will Sampson (1933-1987) (I remember him best in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest); Wilford Brimley (1934); Claude Jarman, Jr. (1934); Meat Loaf (1947) and Shaun Cassidy (1958)

@Raggedyaggie,
William Conrad. The original Mat Dillon, of Gunsmoke. He was a very good character actor.

Good afternoon, edgar and Raggedy. We were blue without you, puppy and thanks for the great montage of notables.

edgar, never heard "Dear Prudence". Thanks, Texas, as it was a lovely song for the shy.

Well, y'all, Victoria is NO secret, but Bob's song was intriguing. Sorry about Connie Haines; I didn't know her, however.

Today in history:

1989 - Two men went over the 176-foot-high Niagara Falls in a barrel. Jeffrey Petkovich and Peter Debernardi were the first to ever survive the Horshoe Falls.

Some of you may remember this one, and I had to check to find out that Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1959.

Took a wee tour of an archaeological site near St. Augustine, and it was truly awesome.

Hawaii. Did I hear Hawaii.

Heard these guys for the first time on Youtube. Willie K, the guy on the right, does a great Bill Kinney of the Ink Spots on another video.

Raggedy, I really got winsome(and then some) hearing The Bare Foot Boys singing that lovely Hawaiian song. To think that the yitwails live there, and Eva and company spent a wonderful vacation on that big island. <sigh>

edgar, thanks for letting us hear Connie. She was quite good, Texas. I noticed Neal Hefti was credited and I found that he wrote Little Darlin'.

Time for me to say goodnight, and the puppy put me in a lagoon mood, so here is my nite nite song.

@Raggedyaggie,
Speaking of Hawaii, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Don Ho on a flight from Hawaii to Seattle. He was flying to WA to perform in concert. Very Happy

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, Like that Beatles' song. I need to listen to the lyrics carefully, however. Your Donny Brooks' song reminded me that there is a word-donnybrook that means a fight or brawl. Wonder if he took his name from that Irish expression.

TTH, sorry that the equipment in my wee studio will not work with your YouTube version; however, I was surprised to find out that this hand signal means family in Hawaiian .

To the younguns, it means "hang loose".

Here's one that I like by Don Ho, folks. I was surprised to find out that Hank Snow did it as well.

I loved Al Capp. While he made me angry with his comments on Joan Baez, I have since forgiven him.
