@Letty,
The current forecast, which changes with each new projection, has my zipcode getting 80 mph winds. We will either ride it out at the apartments, or else go to my brother's home in Dallas.

@edgarblythe,
That was great, edgar, and made me smile. Let us hear from you as often as possible, Texas, and after hearing that song, "Let us bray."
Razz

Time for me to say goodnight as well, and the moon is almost full, so I went outside and did a quick moondance for Noddy.

@Letty,
I only listened to the audio of that jackass song the first time. Didn't see the video, until just now. I in no way intended to push the producer's political agenda.

Good evening, all! Here's a little something to make you smile:

Dog appears as witness in murder trial

A dog nicknamed Scooby has become the first animal in the world to appear as a witness in a murder trial.

http://z.about.com/d/cameras/1/0/v/2/sadDog.jpg
Here's Scooby!

The animal is believed to have been with his 59-year-old owner when she was found hanging from the ceiling of her Paris flat.

Police believe it was suicide but her family demanded a murder investigation, reports the Daily Telegraph.

During a preliminary hearing the pet was led into the witness box by a vet to see how it reacted to a suspect. It is said to have "barked furiously".

The aim was to decide if there was sufficient evidence to launch a full murder inquiry and a judge is yet to reach a decision.

French judge Thomas Cassuto praising the animal for his "exemplary behaviour and invaluable assistance".

A spokesman for the Palais de Justice in Paris confirmed that the Nanterre case was the first time a dog had appeared as a witness in criminal proceedings in France.

He said he was "almost certain" it was also a world first. The dog was nicknamed after crime-fighting cartoon character Scooby Doo.

@Reyn,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, I didn't pay much attention to the political aspects of the video. Just listened to the braying, buddy. I see that Houston is going to stare down Ike. Give us a periodic update.

Reyn, That was a great animal story, and I hope the judge is able to use Scooby to convict the killer. Thanks, buddy.

I like this morning song, folks, and the light is just breaking through our windows.

As I observed on another thread, Ike is gonna be a booger. It may head up I-45, which puts us practically at the center, where I live. The track shifts often enough that no one really knows. We are about packed and I have secured the house and yard. Nothing to do but go over everything several times and then wait. We are getting out once the wind starts gusting some. Right now, it is dry and a little breezy. The sky is mostly cloudy.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, it's the uncertainty that is the real problem. I recall hearing my roof go during hurricane Charlie (I think that was the name) and I had no idea what to do. Then Frances, and I took my ill husband in the car and headed for the shelter. Got half way there, and the "newly replaced " radiator went. Had to turn around and go back home to get the Monaco. The stay in the shelter was terrible.

Combine that with the forcaster's headline today about Ike, and that only makes things worse.

I never know when the phone will ring and something horrible will have occurred in Virginia. Then comes that still small voice of calm and I hear from my son who sounded so much better. My sister seems better as well.

Well, I have been searching for the lyrics to this song. (small problem compared to other things), without much success. Maybe someone here will know, even you, my resolute friend. Some time back, I played this song as a tribute to my American eskimo, Domino.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I like Rod Stewart, and Maggie May was the first one that I heard by him.

I didn't know there was a Frank Sinatra, Jr. either.

Hey, Texas, Marty, Jr. sounds like his dad, and I like the tribute to his mamma.

Today is Barry White's birthday, and I love his version of Billy Joel's song.

@Rockhead,
Ah, Rocky, I think that you just lifted the pall that had settled over our studio. Loved the "Simon Legree" song, and we'll dedicate the Ubangi Stomp to our Stray Cat and hope she comes back soon. Thanks, honey.

I would like to say goodnight with these two songs inspired by one episode of "Without a Trace."

First, Gordon Lightfoot.

Miss Lety with Love...

I'm not much of an EP guy, but I am pretty sure edgar would go here, and I have a soft spot for the tune.

@Rockhead,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Rock, I think all of us have a soft spot for Amazing Grace. I used to kid McTag about the fact that bagpipers only knew that song. Speaking of whom, I do hope that he and Fiona made it safely to LA.

Thinking about our Texas friends this early morning as I'm certain that all of us are.

Today is Mel Torme's birthday, so let's hear a couple of great ones by the "velvet fog".
