@edgarblythe,
Goodnight, edgar. What a wonderful song by Tim, but it was a little melancholy.

Time for me to say goodnight as well, folks. I've been searching most of the evening for the Turner Classic Movie of She (who must be obeyed) It starred Randolph Scott. No luck, however. I vaguely recall the woman standing in the eternal flame and becoming old due to over exposure.

Ah, well, here is my goodnight song, folks.

@Letty,
Hurricane Ike now is setting its sights farther to the west of here. Appears to like South Texas, it seems.

Woke up this morning thinking of Nat and Cat. I recall the song from radio listening - Never saw the film.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, I checked out Cat Ballou and it seems there was a slight anachronism in the movie. Equus will appreciate what I mean. As the fight was going on, a small plane was seen in the sky. Doesn't matter, 'cause I love that song by Nat and Stubby. Thanks, Texas, and I'm glad that Ike missed you, but ditto what Rocky observed.

Rocky, Loved your song, One ,by U2. Never heard that one, and I think that I called you Bull moose. Sorry for that mistake as that was Teddy Roosevelt's party. Bull Winkle is what I meant to say.

Hey, honu. What a fantastic acoustic guitar song by the man from Cuba; so soothing, big island man. Thanks. (need to check out how Ike treated Cuba)

Well, folks, I hope that I didn't miss anyone this morning. It's rather difficult to do when everything is sorta bass ackwards here. (grins to self)

A couple of songs this morning, folks. One to match Rocky's "One", and the other to honor Billy Preston who died too early.

First, from Three Dog Night

Next, Billy.

@Raggedyaggie,
Thanks, blue puppy, for the montage and the additions. Knew all except Tom Wopat and found out that he starred in The Dukes of Hazzard. Rolling Eyes

Also know the War and Peace man and, of course, The Lost Horizon fellow.

Love that song by Otis, incidentally.

Here's one by Michel Buble, folks. I think he is great.

This is dedicated to all of us.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, there is no doubt that Johnny Cash is a legend as are the simpler times in our lives.

Speaking of legends, folks, our listeners and watchers might enjoy another legend; that of Atlantis.

Worth the listen and worth the watch, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was truly lovely. Never heard that one By S. & G. either, Texas. The movie, Stargate Atlantis with Kurt Russell, was about UFO's.

What a surprise to find out that Stephen Foster wrote My Darling Nelly Grey. My mamma sang that one to me, and when I play it on the piano, it still makes me cry a bit.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think I'll let Charlie Pride do it for me.

Love this one.

@edgarblythe,
We need a cheerful song, edgar, and that one by Donovan was perfect. "...First there is no mountain..." Nope, not going to play, Climb Every Mountain, folks.

Ya know, I can understand Atlantis better than I can this bit of news

Largest particle collider conducts successful test
By ALEXANDER G. HIGGINS, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 19 minutes ago
GENEVA - The world's largest particle collider successfully completed its first major test by firing a beam of protons all the way around a 17-mile (27-kilometer) tunnel Wednesday in what scientists hope is the next great step to understanding the makeup of the universe.

After a series of trial runs, two white dots flashed on a computer screen at 10:36 a.m. (0836 GMT) indicating that the protons had traveled the full length of the US$3.8 billion Large Hadron Collider.
"There it is," project leader Lyn Evans said when the beam completed its lap.
Champagne corks popped in labs as far away as Chicago, where contributing scientists watched the proceedings by satellite. Physicists around the world now have much greater power than ever before to smash the components of atoms together in attempts to see how they are made.
"Well done everybody," said Robert Aymar.

Yeah, well done everybody.

Today is Jose Feliciano's birthday, so here is one by him, y'all.

Good morning WA2K.

That's a mighty deep subject, Letty. Those scientists are just going to have to pop their champagne corks without me. Confused

Today, let's remember

and wish a Happy 55th to Amy Irving; 48th to Colin Firth and 34th to Ryan Phillippe.

@Raggedyaggie,
Hey, pup. Thanks again for those famous faces, and you're right. Often scientists can be just as dubious and esoteric as politicians.

They will have to pop that cork without me as well

Today is animal day, folks. First, a tribute to Rin-Tin-Tin, then a dedication to our Rocky.
