@edgarblythe,
Good morning, everyone.

Hope our WA2K PD is having decent weather this Thursday.

As much as I love the vocals for this song, Legrand does a great piano version of the haunting melody he wrote.

@firefly,
That was wonderful, firefly.

Here's another Legrand where he explains a dream that he has about playing with a number of jazz greats.

Good morning all. Very Happy

Hope all is well with our Letty.

The Legrand was nice, firefly. I remember it from "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg".

Today's birthday celebs:

Anton Bruckner, Austrian composer (1824-1896), author Richard Wright (1908-1960), and actor Dick York (1928-1992)

Mitzi Gaynor (77); Damon Wayans (48); Ione Skye (37) and Beyonce Knowles (27)

@JPB,
Good morning to everyone. All I see are blue skies smiling at me.

firefly, thanks for the Robert Goulet memory.

JPB, my son had a cat that he named Kitty Carlisle. Seriously, didn't she die under mysterious circumstances?

edgar, I know that song. Thanks, Texas.

firefly, of all the performers and composers that I have heard "Michael the Great" is among my very favorites. I noticed that Matt Monroe also did "I Will Wait for you." Love that song.

JPB, I did smile at listening to Michel play Take the A Train", thanks, gal and I do know The Rhythm of the Falling Rain.

A couple of day songs, folks, and I cannot believe that I found one of my very favorites accidentally.

First, The Four Freshmen

Next, Guess Who I Saw Today. Never heard this lady do it; only Nancy Wilson.

@Raggedyaggie,
Oops, missed our blue puppy. Thanks again for the great quartet.

For some reason, I couldn't find a decent tribute to Richard Wright, folks. Loved that man, and he is buried in France. His wife put a copy of his book Native Son in his casket, because she observed that it said the most about his life.

Here's a brief observation about his haiku, and the monk man creates the piano dissonance on purpose, methinks.

@edgarblythe,
firefly, that was indeed lovely. Everyone sang so in tune and beautifully, but they looked sad. Their harmony was a lot like the Freshmen. Thanks, gal.

Strange, isn't it edgar. The song we remember is the one we heard when we first met our intended. That one has a special meaning for you, Texas.

So folks, we have heard "Steal Away" and "Sail Away" so how about "Stand and Deliver." This one is different, and now I understand the expression, "highway robbery."

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was one strange duo. Leonard was a foil to Elton, but I liked the contrapuntal effect.

Well, folks, time for me to say goodnight. Keeping an eye on Ike.

Inspired by JPB, I decided to continue with a dream song. Ah, how lovely is a classical piece set to Shakespeare who got it from Chaucer's A Knight's Tale.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

JPB, My word, gal, I had no idea that Dvorak did Humouresque. Thanks, again for the lovely classical piece.

edgar, I only remember Jan for his Bluebird of Happiness; had no idea that he did Because. Lovely, and thank you.

ABBA says it rather well, I think
