@edgarblythe,
First, y'all, allow me to thank firefly for the lovely song that seemed to go with Cameron diaz. I saw her in one movie and I think she was a villain.

Of course I love, Once, Twice, Three Times a Letty. Razz

edgar, I had to go back and check on Lee, and now I recall him in Liberty Valence, plus The Dirty Dozen. Thanks for that bit of nostalgia, Texas.

Well, my company is returning home and I do hope Gustav doesn't give them any trouble, folks. Also talked to my son and he sounded so strong and young. I think I understand how a heart can take wing.

My word, I just realized who Timothy Hutton is. Will do a song later for him.

In the interim, how about one from The Doobie Brothers. Still enjoy them.

@Letty,
Not to Letty but FROM Letty. Time for me to say goodnight, folks, and I decided to play this as a tribute to Mary Shelley.

I'm closing out with a tribute to Sergio Leone and Ennio Moricone, with a salute to the late Lee Van Cleef.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience and edgar. Loved your tribute, Texas, and I recall that movie, especially the strange scream that permeated the background theme.

I also remember Lee Van Cleef as this master.

And here is something for our firefly.

Today is Van Morrison's birthday, folks, and I love this one by him.

@Letty,
That Van Morrison/Emily Dickenson video is truly remarkable.

When I lived and worked in Manhattan, I became acquainted with a man who claimed to be Lee Van Cleef's first acting teacher. He told me many facts about him, most of which I have forgotten. He told me that Lee's fond desire was to step into Humphrey Bogart's shoes, after Bogey passed away. The movie big shots did not agree and so he went the way he did. I first began noticing him in High Noon. Always looked forward to his performances.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, There are many mysteries untold about famous folks. My son was convinced that ninja killed both Bruce and Brandon Lee for sharing the sacred martial arts with the western world. I had a student who kept referring to it as marital arts. Razz

Here's Bruce teaching Kung Fu.

I will not be able to testify about this recording. It's brand new to me. It struck me as a song many listeners will enjoy.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, the song is Caledonia--it is lovely. I have heard other versions and I think I posted one by Celtic Thunder on WA2K a while back. Do you have any idea who did the vocal on the one you posted?

Quote:
"Caledonia" is the name of a modern Scottish folk ballad, written by Dougie MacLean somewhere between 1974 and 1977 and published in 1979 on an album of the same name. It has the lyrics "Caledonia, you're calling me, and now I'm going home". MacLean plays the song in the key of E using Open C tuning with a capo on the 4th fret, as can be seen in video recordings. This version has been covered by artists including Frankie Miller and Fish. It is included in the 2007 album release by Celtic Woman, A New Journey, sung by Lisa Kelly.
The song is also covered by the Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini on a special version of his album These Streets. The cover on this album is a live recording. Another cover was included as a hidden track on singer/songwriter Amy Macdonald's album 'This is the life'

@edgarblythe,
Hey, no problem, edgar. We just liked the song.

Today is Richard Gere's birthday, and this song from "All That Jazz" is one of my favorites. The entire movie was about Chicago during the roaring twenties. Amazing what one could get by with and still be a star. Razz

We'll dedicate this one to those "My kind of Town..." folks.

Right, firefly. People vulnerable to Gus need all the prayers we can muster.

ah, Ragtime, firefly. My mom would love it as do I. Yep, folks, I guess we need to keep our sunny side up for those who have left the scene. Glad they did!

Walk over here, y'all.

Yeah sunny. Think positive.
I came into some musical DVDs. A resident was tossing them. I picked out Camelot, Oklahoma, State Fair and Carousel. I had not seen the first three, so it was quite a haul. Camelot was much different than I had envisioned it. Vanessa Redgrave does not look like she belongs in a musical to me. On the other hand, the entire play was not so musical as I had expected anyway. Just finished Oklahoma. Now I can see why they thought nothing of casting Rod Stieger as Pinky in the Glenn Ford western, Jubal. The characters were so similar.

@edgarblythe,
WOW. edgar, love Sunny, and Cher did a good job especially with that acoustic guitar as background. You mentioned Rod Stieger and, of course, I thought of On the Waterfront. Ever wonder if you could have"...been a contender..."?(I'll have to check out Jubal)

This guy does a great job on this jazz version, folks.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Dylan is fascinating in such a strange way. "...watch my senses dies..." jumped out at me for some reason. Thanks, Texas.

Well, Time for me to say goodnight, folks, and I think I'll do it with one of my favorite jazz artists.
