@yitwail,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

First, allow me to acknowledge our pup for her return to the fold. I sorta figured when she saw that Dimitri had done the score for Duel in the Sun that she might reappear.

Hey, honu. Welcome back. Have always loved Johnny Mercer and that song is quite familiar to me. Thanks, buddy.

Strange, all, but my morning song is going to be one which demonstrates how music and politics often collide. It seems that Mr. Raegan misunderstood Bruce's intention. Wonder if Obama does as well.

@Letty,
Good morning. Hope everyone has a great day.

Each new day brings some changes.

Been watching the Democratic convention. It's clear the Democrats are promising this--changes

And I'd imagine that Obama wonders about the impact he could have on the world.

Yup, right now I feel that change is going to come

@firefly,
Good morning, firefly. and here is the foil to your songs of change, gal.

Unfortunately or fortunately, tradition still has its place in our world. (especially in Virginia)

Tracy Chapman is here to voice the opinion of a generation, now carried over into the 21st Century.

@edgarblythe,
Well, folks, I guess it comes down to the individual when it comes to change. Remember Woodstock and the counterculture, edgar? They effected little change, buddy. I once read that it was the lunatic fringe that brought about the most change in society.

A song from Woodstock, y'all.

@Raggedyaggie,
Wonderful, firefly and Raggedy.

Monday is Labor Day, but most folks just think of it as the last big time vacation of summer. How about a little history, then a song by Tennessee Ernie Ford. (we'll dedicate the later to djjd wherever he is)

First the history; then the miner's lament.

@yitwail,
Hey, big island man. Devo did it right, and Tennessee Ernie explained what it was like before the UMW. Thc coal barons paid the miner's in script which could only be redeemed at the company store.

The UMW was great for a while but then it became just as controlling as the barons. Medical insurance was so cheap, that every worker went to the hospital for stupid things. It drove the prices of medical care out of sight. There's always good and bad on both sides, right?

Thanks, honu, for the miner song.

Today is Charlie Bird Parker's birthday, so let's listen to a little jazz as a tribute to the man.

@Raggedyaggie,
Thanks, O Blue One ,for the celeb reminder, and all of us enjoyed the clip from Nine to Five. Yes, Irgrid was one fine actress, PA. Thanks, gal.

Very timely, folks, 'cause John just announced his running mate, Sarah Palin. As a matter of fact, John and Johnny went...

@edgarblythe,
Still makes me smile, edgar. Used to watch HeeHaw all the time, Texas. Loved the Rattler song. Just found out that Grandpa was in the Battle of the Bulge. Wow!

Here is one of my favorite performers on the show, y'all, and he is fabulous.
