Guy Mitchell sold many records, had quite a few hits, but you never hear or read about him.

Well, edgar, we just heard about him on WA2K radio.

Frankly, I don't know where I first heard of Hank Snow. Must have been my country cousins.

Seems that Guy Mitchell was a Croatian American. (don't care for hyphenated last names) There are those here who know him well.

I can't recall if we have heard this by Cat Stevens on the little radio staion. It's called "The Wind." I'm not sure that I fully understand the lyrics.

edgar, when you consider that Cat's dad was Greek Orthodox, his mom Baptist, and that he was sent to a Roman Catholic school. that song may make sense. Actually, being an artist, as you should know, Texas, is not a concrete thing. The wind took him where he wanted to go, and, as our listeners know, he finally converted to Islam.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think I may be followed by a moon shadow tonight.

From the Cat man, then.

Goodnight, moon and all.

From Letty with love

Here is a back stage look at Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Buddy Holly. It just occurred to me, they all are dead. Hmm. Oh, well - - -

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, now we know what Thomas Grey meant by "...where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise...". That quartet of performers did not know what the future held. Thanks, Texas. RIP for all of them.

Well, there's our Dutchy back with a gypsy guitar. Great, down under man, and thanks for a wonderful start to the weekend.

Following along with the classics, here's a familiar one. It's Dudley Moore's birthday, y'all, so guess why I am playing this one.

Letty, the Conductor in that beautiful Bolero - Ravel piece is the world famous Dutch violinist Andre Rieu. He will be playing in my hometown next November and Dutchy with spouse have been fortunate enough to secure front row seats. Here he is in action in London's Royal Albert Hall playing Hava Nagila. recently.

Love that song, Dutchy. I do believe that is the one to which I danced the hora with a group of folks on an evening at a local club. Ragman was kind enough to remind me of the lyrics.

and, my Dutch/turned Aussie friend, why do you think I played that version of Ravel? Razz

How about a Saturday morning song.

Be certain and look at the lyrics to this one, folks as they are very unusual.

No idea why you played that version of Ravel Letty. Could not understand what Joe90 and Billy Hunt were singing either, but these are the lyrics I found:

Saturday morning
And who's gonna play with me
Six in the morning baby
I got a long long day ahead of me

The parents are sleeping soundly
The neighbors are dead as wood
I'm getting up and coming over
We gotta rock the neighborhood

Nothing's ever gonna happen 'round here
If we don't make it happen
Sleep away the day if you want to
But i got something that i gotta do

It's saturday morning
And this ain't the place for me
I'm giving you warning baby
We got a whole big fat world to see

Nothing's ever gonna happen 'round here
If we don't make it happen
Sleep away the day if you want to
But i got something that i gotta do

It's saturday morning
And who's gonna play with me
Six in the morning baby
I got a long long day ahead of me

Walter Brennan - Old Rivers
Walter Brennan-Old Rivers

How old was I when I first seen old Rivers?
I can't remember when he weren't around
Well, that old fellow did a heap of work
Spent his whole life walking plowed ground.

He had a one-room shack not far from us
And well, we was about as poor as him
He had one old mule he called Midnight
And I'd trailed along after them.

He used to plow them rows straight and deep
And I'd come along near behind
A-bustin' up clods with my own bare feet
Old Rivers was a friend of mine.

That sun'd get high and that mule would work
Till old Rivers'd say, ''Whoa!''
He'd wipe his brow, lean back on the reins
And talk about a place he was gonna go.

Chorus:
He'd say, one of these days
I'm gonna climb that mountain
Walk up there amoung the clouds
Where the cotton's high
And the corn's a-growin'
And there ain't no fields to plow.

--- Instrumental ---

I got a letter today from the folks back home and
They're all fine and crops is dry
Down at the end my mama said, ''Son
You know old Rivers died.''

Just sittin' here now on this new-plowed earth
Trying to find me a little shade
With the sun beating down 'cross the field I see
That mule, old Rivers and me.

Chorus:
Now, one of these days
I'm gonna climb that mountain
Walk up there amoung the clouds
Where the cotton's high
And the corn's a-growin'
And there ain't no fields to plow.

With the sun beating down 'cross the field I see
That mule, old Rivers and me...

Dutchy, you may not have the same version of YouTube that I have, but if you click on "more" in the upper corner, you will see the lyrics, and I choose that version BECAUSE it was the violinist from your original home, buddy. What a fabulous performer and you and Mrs. Dutchy will have a wonderful evening listening and watching.

Victor, Welcome back. Somehow that song made me a bit sad, and Humphrey Bogart in the picture was a surprise. Thanks so much.

UhOh, folks. Our Raggedy scampered in dropped her collage of famous folks, then scampered out. She wasn't smiling today, either.

The best that your PD could do this afternoon with Ashley Judd (She was great in Kiss the Girls, an adaptation of James Patterson's book.) is to play one by all of the Judd gals.

And here is a tribute to Bob Wills. The video is not appropriately titled. It mentions his big hit, Faded Love, which does not get played at all. Near the end, it stops with the accolades enough to play some good music.
