tom rush
Tom Rush was one of the finest Folk singer/songwriters and paved the way for many to come. Growing up in Boston I had the rare treat to see him perform a few times. For very good examples of his work, check these links out:

Oh, that's funny, I just listened to "Dreamer" on Ragman's other post and was going to reply. What a beautiful song! Never heard that one before. I saw Tom Rush perform at , I guess you could call it a bistro, here in Pa. many years ago and loved the guy. My favorite Rush record is "No Regrets". Love his guitar on that one. I also like "The Circle Game".

Birthday pictures on previous page, Letty. Very Happy

Oops, the PD be lagging a bit today.

Ragman, both those songs are wonderful. What a marvelous folk singer he is. Especially liked The Dreamer, and thanks again. You're more than a great photographer, buddy.

Raggedy, a marvelous montage of famous folks, PA. and speaking of montage, here is one from a certain movie that starred Andy Garcia and, of all things, Kevin Costner.

That was a beautiful video of "Somewhere", Letty. Did you know:

Wikipedia:
"Sondheim's big break came when he wrote the lyrics to West Side Story, accompanying Leonard Bernstein's music and Arthur Laurents's book. The 1957 show, directed by Jerome Robbins, ran for 732 performances. While this may be the best-known show Sondheim ever worked on, he has expressed some dissatisfaction with his lyrics, stating they don't always fit the characters and are sometimes too consciously poetic. "

I heard somewhere (I think on a video I have of the making of Bernstein's own recording of West Side Story) that Bernstein said Sondheim was never given enough credit for the lyrics. I love the lyrics. Smile

Hey, Raggedy. No, I had no idea about Bernstein's observation. Sondheim deserved it.

edgar, I first learned about Matt when my friend from Virginia Beach introduced me to him. I couldn't find the song, "Nina Never Knew", but that is the one Fred really liked.

Matt also did a beautiful song call "Softly, I Will Leave You Softly". Can't listen to that one without sheding some tears.

Sonny Bono was somewhat of a riddle to me. I always liked this song better than the rest of his.

Wow! edgar I just found out that Sonny and Cher did a song by Bob Dylan. Liked the one you played, however.

What a surprise, Raggedy. I had no idea that Matt did that song. He was great, and no one will EVER be the Bond that Sean Connery was. He still looks great to me. Thanks for the info, PA.

Here's the S&C song of which I spoke, folks.

edgar, don't we discover marvelous things by accident? Loved that song, Texas.

As one thing leads to another, when edgar played "Old Brown Shoe", I thought of dancing, and found this one, folks. We'll dedicate this to Reyn. Razz He will know why.

Great scott, edgar. I didn't even know that Merv could sing. Thanks for the info.

And, folks, that song "At the Hop" I knew, but I most certainly did NOT know that Pat Boone even had a brother.

Well, from the hop to hip hop. Razz

Had to remind myself of Merv, and I had a game that was based on Jeopardy that I played with my kids.

Merv had a great voice. Can't say that much for Pat's brother. Pat gets a lot of derision from many quarters, but, on certain types of songs, he too was great, in my never humble opinion.

I could never warm up to Alice. No particular reason. I've always been indifferent to him. From my understanding of him, he's a decent guy.
