Good morning, WA2K radio.

edgar, I didn't even know that Nat had a brother, much less one who could sing the blues. Wow! he was really good and it must have been hard for him in Nat's shadow.

Well, this is a surprise, folks. Last evening I watched Medium on TV and what a surprise to find that today is Patricia Arquette's birthday. She was joined by her sister, Rosanna, and the episode was really great and unpredictable.

So, let's hear one about Allison Dubois and in Spanish.

Good Afternoon. Very Happy

I haven't seen Medium. Looks interesting.

A Happy 40th to Patricia Arquette, 42nd to Robin Wright Penn, 45th to Julian Lennon and 48th to John Schneider.

Hey, puppy, you would love Medium. It's believable. Thanks for the great quartet of famous folks, PA.

Speaking of quartets, y'all, here is a son of the Fab Four with a great song.

Incidentally, it seems that our Debacle is fine, just hanging out with other folks from around the world.

Thank you for the song. Most probably you find it more enjoyable if you sing the song in a karaoke box.

My goodness, satt, I had to search that one out.

Karaoke Box is a variant of karaoke that is popular in East Asia. It features a small to medium-sized private room containing karaoke equipment for a group of friends to rent in timed increments. A monitor in the room displays lyrics atop a themed music video. The music videos are often not the official videos, but are videos made especially for karaoke establishments. A typical Karaoke Box establishment contains 10-20 such rooms as well as a main "karaoke bar" area in the front. Karaoke Box centers can scale to hundreds of rooms and can be extremely opulent. Karaoke Box establishments often sell refreshments.
In Taiwan and mainland China, Karaoke Box establishments are often known as KTV, and are a popular form of extertainment. Very successful KTV chains in Taiwan include Holiday KTV and Cashbox KTV. "KTV" is an abbreviation for karaoke television, derived as a reference to "MTV."

Thanks, buddy. It is always nice to learn stuff on our cyber radio.

I don't know how many fans Johnny Mathis has. He has been recording since the middle of the late Twentieth Century. His greatest hits album stayed on the charts for something like ten years. Oddly, I am not aware of a single major award being given him. Here is one of his best: Misty.

letty, I went to Wickepedia and now stand corrected. Johnny won three grammy awards. Still, that doesn't seem like much for such a great artist.

edgar, I cannot believe that Johnny hasn't received any accolades, Texas. If I recall correctly, he is the first black singer to hit the million dollar mark.

I am stunned at how well he does one of my all time favorites.

I lost one of his albums, many years ago. It had what I consider the best version of Hello Young Lovers on it. This was before computers, and it took me many years to replace it.

edgar, just caught your research on Johnny. Thanks.

Well, folks, this may be an abrupt change, but seeing edgar's name reminded me of another edgar. Razz

Guess who, all.

I loved that Tarzan movie, based on EDGAR Rice Burrows' novels, letty. I was browsing elsewhere in the library of goodies to broadcast tonight, and came up with one by Linda Gail Lewis, Jerry Lee's sister.

Bob Dylan and Pulitzer Prize
Bob Dylan Receives Rare Honor, Pulitzer Prize - Special Citation in Music

" ... Bob Dylan will receive a rare Special Citation in Music. There have only been 38 such citations since 1917, and Dylan joins the ranks of distinguished past recipients such as George Gershwin and Duke Ellington. Last year, John Coltrane received the citation posthumously.

"With Dylan we are recognizing a body of work," Gissler said. "The Citation also reflects the effort of the Board over the last four years to broaden the scope of the music prize."

In honor of Bob Dylan receiving the Pulitzer Prize (first ever for Rock performer), I'm posting some of the rare poignant romantic music of his --my fave:

IF YOU SEE HER, SAY HELLO
(Words and Music by Bob Dylan)

If you see her, say hello, she might be in Tangier
She left here last early spring, is livin' there, I hear
Say for me that I'm all right though things get kind of slow
She might think that I've forgotten her, don't tell her it isn't so.

We had a falling-out, like lovers often will
And to think of how she left that night, it still brings me a chill
And though our separation, it pierced me to the heart
She still lives inside of me, we've never been apart.

If you get close to her, kiss her once for me
I always have respected her for busting out and gettin' free
Oh, whatever makes her happy, I won't stand in the way
Though the bitter taste still lingers on from the night I tried to make her stay.

I see a lot of people as I make the rounds
And I hear her name here and there as I go from town to town
And I've never gotten used to it, I've just learned to turn it off
Either I'm too sensitive or else I'm gettin' soft.

Sundown, yellow moon, I replay the past
I know every scene by heart, they all went by so fast
If she's passin' back this way, I'm not that hard to find
Tell her she can look me up if she's got the time.

Wow! edgar that gal is good, and I always got a kick out of Jerry Lee. I think that talent runs in the family, perhaps like genetic memory.

One of my favorites by the older brother, y'all.

Jerry is perhaps one of the most unrestrained artists ever,

Ragman, that is one of my top faves by Dylan. THe album it is from is in my opinion, one of Dylan's best.

listen to this link to dylan song
Letty, you're the best. I was too busy playing it (repeatedly). By the way for those that can't stand Dylan's voice...and think his music too dark or cynical...listen closely to this song and the most of "Blood on the Tracks" album/cd!

Edgar, I agree about "Blood on the Tracks". In fact, It's one of the best albums IMHO, in the last 30 yrs. OK...let's toss in Simon's "Graceland" and when I go to that deserted island and only have a few albums from which I can listen, those are my # 1 and #2.

Jerry Lee Lewis and Janis Joplin are both in the uppermost echelon of talent and non-restraintedness (word?)

Ragman, edgar and I both love Dylan. Thanks for the reminder.

Time for me to say goodnight, and for once Letty can put two and two together. I have no idea why I know this, but according to my older sister she played it on piano when she was twelve. It might be that it was because Benny Goodman did it and it was handed down.

THE JAPANESE SANDMAN
(Words by Raymond B. Egan / Music by Richard A. Whitin, 1920)

Won't you stretch imagination for the moment and come with me
Let us hasten to a nation lying over the western sea
Hide behind the cherry blossoms here's a sight that will please your eyes
There's a baby with a lady of Japan singing lullabies
Night winds breath her sighs here's the Japanese

Just as silent as we came we'll leave the land of the painted fan
Wander lightly or you'll wake the little people of old Japan
May repose and pleasant dreaming be their share while the hours are small
Like an echo of the song I hear the Japanese Sandman
call new days near for all here's the Japanese

Sandman sneaking on with the dew just an old second hand man
He'll buy your old day from you
he will take every sorrow of the day that is through
and he'll give you tomorrow just to start a life anew
then you'll be a bit older in the dawn when you wake
and you'll be a bit bolder with the new day you make
here's the Japanese Sandman trade him silver for gold
just an old second hand man trading new days for old.

Goodnight, all

From Letty with love
