I'm a bit late but I have to tell you that I absolutely love 'To kill a mockingbird'. I read the book in English and saw the movie, however, dubbed in German. Some weeks ago, I bought the DVD on ebay because I wanted to hear the original voices. I can only watch it on the computer because the format doesn't run on our DVD player. But I don't care. It is sooo great!

Urs, welcome back, honey. So glad that you are feeling well and breathing again. Razz

The book went into much more detail than the movie, but both were excellent, right? The mockingbird was a metaphor of Boo Radley, but there are those who may not agree with me.

Here's another Mockingbird song, y'all, and done by one of my favorite teams.

I was a kid when I first saw the movie and it is one of my all time favourites. And the book is great.

It is midnight in Germany and here is some German music:

Lovely German song, Urs. The melody is the translation, and the vocalist is very much like a Lorelei

Speaking of midnight, here's a Dixieland song that we can all enjoy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKA49VLvwOw

and the brief but powerful lyrics..

Midnight in Moscow

(Soloviev-Sedoy)-

Stillness in the grove, not a rustling sound
Softly shines the moon, clear and bright
Dear, if you could know
How I treasure so
This most beautiful Moscow night.

So much for the German songs... Once again, I got hooked to Bruce.

Well, I hope our Urs howls at the moon and then goes promptly to bed. I didn't know that "The Long Walk Home" by The Boss was an allusion to James Dean's Rebel. Great song.

With the state of our economy and the widening gap between rich and poor, I suspect he will have a resurgence in popularity.

Here's another, all.

edgar, Harry Chapin is excellent. Thanks for playing that, Texas.

Sleep well, dear Urs. ehBeth and I love Jim Croce, and yes, that song was sad. He, of course, reminds me of my friend and colleague in broadcasting, Santa Tomas E. Lucas.

How about a love song by Jim.

Time for me to say goodnight, but before I go off to bed, I want the coyote women to know that it is raining and dark here in my little studio, so I only want to say that there are those that we miss:

Ellinas
Debacle
Satt fs.

Hope they are well and aware.

A great goodnight song, everyone.

Good Sunday morning, WA2K folks.

Screen legend Charlton Heston has died at the age of 84. Let's take a moment and listen to a tribute.

This guy was a great actor. Pity that such exceptional career is tainted by his belonging to the NRA..

Welcome back, Francis. It has been awhile. There are mixed emotions on his NRA stand, I suppose.

I must admit that I was stunned when I realized the proverb, "The more things change; the more they stay the same" was French in origin, and you were also correct on the meaning of adieu. I found out that it is the more powerful of the two "goodbyes".

Good Morning WA2K.

Lovely music, Letty.

A Happy 79th to Andre Previn; 71st to Merle Haggard and 71st to Billy Dee Williams.

And remembering Walter Huston (1884-1950) and singer Sergio Franchi (1926-1990) today.

Thanks again, puppy, for the great montage of notables. Loved that song by Sergio. Don't know him, but his voice is fabulous. Often, when we listen, the video is unimportant, right?

Is Angelica Huston Walter's daughter? She has a role in the TV show Medium, and last Monday night's episode was something of a shocker, PA.

Here's one by Billie Dee in his most famous portrayal, y'all. The sync is off, but that's the way things go sometimes.

The Midnight Special
The Midnight Special

Well, you wake up in the mornin',
You hear the work bell ring,
And they march you to the table to see the same old thing.
Ain't no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan.
But you better not complain, boy,
You get in trouble with the man.

CHORUS:
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

Yonder come miss Rosie, how in the world did you know?
By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore.
Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand;
She come to see the gov'nor, she wants to free her man.

CHORUS

If you're ever in Houston, well, you better do the right;
You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're prison bound.

CHORUS

CHORUS

I was looking for a German Sunday song and found this. Hildegard Knef was a big star - singer and actress. The song is about things she would like to have or do. Nice!
