Oh, my goodness, folks, is it possible for a puppy to blush? Raggedy is shy, you know. Razz

Victor, here is one of my favorites by Ray Price, but a lot of folks did it as well.

San Antonio Rose

Deep within my heart lies a melody
song of old San Antone
Where in dreams I live with a memory
Beneath the stars all alone

It was there I found beside the Alamo
Enchantment strange as the blue up above
moonlit pass that only she would know
Still hears my broken song of love

Moon in all your splendor hear only my heart
Call back my Rose, Rose of San Antone
Lips so sweet and tender like petals falling apart
Speak once again of my love, my own

Broken song, empty words I know
Still live in my heart all alone
For the moonlit pass by the Alamo
And Rose, my Rose of San Antone

Moon in all your splendor hear only my heart
Call back my Rose, Rose of San Antone
Lips so sweet and tender like petals falling apart
Speak once again of my love, my own

Broken song, empty words I know
Still live in my heart all alone
For the moonlit pass by the Alamo
And Rose, my Rose of San Antone
Oh Rose, sweet Rose of San antone

Ah, that puppy looks so pleased. What a delight to feel and to see the nice things in life that are always free.

Speaking of freedom, listeners. I ran across this unusual song by James Taylor.

Shall I tell it again how we started as friends
Who would run into one another now and again
At the Yippee Cai O or the Mesa Dupree
Or a dozen different everyday places to be

I was loping along living alone
We were ever so brave on the telephone
Would you care to come down for fireworks time
We could each just reach
We step out of line

And the smell of the smoke and the lay of the land
and the feeling of finding one's heart in one's hand
and the tiny tin voice of the radio band singing
"love must stand"
Love forever and ever must stand

Unbelievable you, impossible me
The fool who fell out of the family tree
The fellow that found the philosopher's stone
Deep underground like a dinosaur bone

Who fell into you at a quarter to two
With a tear in your eye for the Fourth of July
For the patriots and the minutemen
And the things you believe they believed in then

Such as freedom, and freedom's land
And the kingdom of God and the rights of man
With the tiny tin voice of the radio band
Singing "love must stand"
Love forever and ever must stand
And forever must stand

Oh the smell of the smoke as we lay on the land
and the feeling of finding my heart in my hand
with the tiny tin voice of the radio band
singing "love must stand"
love forever and ever must stand

All on the Fourth of July
On the Fourth of July

God Bless America by Gene Autry
The other day I posted God Bless America by Kate Smith.
I never knew Gene Autry sung that song, here it is!

God Bless America by Gene Autry

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B00006WL7D.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy
by George M. Cohan

I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy
A Yankee Doodle, do or die
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam
Born on the Fourth of July

I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart
She's my Yankee Doodle joy
Yankee Doodle came to London
Just to ride the ponies
I am the Yankee Doodle Boy

We're beginning a little early, right?

Catch Us If You Can
The Dave Clark Five

[Written by Dave Clark and Lenny Davidson]

Here they come again, mmmm-mm-mm
Catch us if you can, mmmm-mm-mm
Time to get a move on, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might

Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can

Now we gotta run, mmmm-mm-mm
No more time for fun, mmmm-mm-mm
When we're gettin' angry, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might

Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can

---- Harmonica ----

Here they come again, mmmm-mm-mm
Catch us if you can, mmmm-mm-mm
Time to get a move on, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might

Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can

Well, edgar, I guess it's only fair that we look at the other side of the pond, right? After all, folks, a lot of us were Englishmen at one time.

Dave Clark Five

I LIKE IT LIKE THAT
(Chris Kenner / Allen Toussaint)

Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Whoa!, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
I said the name of the place is I like it like that

Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Whoa!, I wanna show you (come on let me show you where it's at)
I said the name of the place is I like it like that

They got a little place a-down the track
The name of the place is I like it like that
You take Sally and I'll take Sue
And we're gonna rock away all of our blues

Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
The name of the place is I like it like that

The last time I was down they lost my shoes
They had some cat shoutin' the blues
The people was yellin' and shoutin' for more
And all they kept sayin' was-a "go man, go"

Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, I wanna show you (come on let me show you where it's at)
I said the name of the place is I like it like that

Come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Ah, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
Oh, come on (come on let me show you where it's at)
The name of the place is I like it like that

(You're My) Soul And Inspiration
The Righteous Brothers

[Words and Music by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil]

Girl, I can't let you do this
Let you walk away
Girl, how can I live through this
When you're all I wake up for each day

Baby, you're my soul and my hearts inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my hearts inspiration
Without you, baby
What good am I

I never had much goin'
But at least I had you
How can you walk out knowin'
I ain't got nothin' left if you do

Baby, you're my soul and my hearts inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my hearts inspiration
Without you, baby
What good am I
Oh, what good am I

(SPOKEN)
Baby, I can't make it without'cha
And I'm, I'm tellin' ya, honey
You're my reason
For laughin', for cryin'
For livin' and for dyin'

Baby, I can't make it without you
Please, I'm begging you, baby
If you go it will kill me
I swear it
Dear, my love can't bear it

You're my soul and my heart's inspiration
You're all I've got to get me by
You're my soul and my hearts inspiration
Without you, baby
What good am I
What good am I

Mmmmmmmmmmm, ummmmmm
Ummmmmmm
Whoooooooooooooooo

if it's not too late for a Cyndi Lauper encore,

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion -
Is nothing new
Flashback - warm nights -
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after -

Sometimes you picture me -
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said -
Then you say - go slow -
I fall behind -
The second hand unwinds

Chorus:
If you're lost you can look - and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you - I'll be waiting
Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows - you're wondering
If I'm OK
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time -

Chorus:
If you're lost...

You said go slow -
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds -

Chorus:
If you're lost...
...Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for playing that soul and inspiration song. Two illusive muses, no?

My goodness, folks, there's our M.D. back with us and doing a Cyndi encore. Hey you on da big island. It's never too late to hear something from an erstwhile turtle. Thanks, yit.

Here's a song that I want to play to greet the day.

Blackmore's Night

There are shadows in the sky
Dancing in the air
Calling to my heart
Saying, "If you dare,
We're running fast
We're running far
Trying to catch the morning star..."
And time and space
Our only sheild
keeping secrets
Unrevealed
Falling night
Breathes in the dark
Trying to catch the morning star...

I can fly through my mind when I see them as they shine
Can it be so hard to try and charm the elusive morning star...

So within the chase
We soon will find
The light of the moon
those left behind
Try to free the gypsy in their hearts
By trying to catch the morning star...

Now that the time
Has come and gone
Illusion has past
And we're on our own
Know the dream is never far
When trying to catch the morning star...

This just in from beat poet, Gregory Corso:

The Mad Yak

I am watching them churn the last milk they'll ever get from me.
They are waiting for me to die;
They want to make buttons out of my bones.
Where are my sisters and brothers?
That tall monk there, loading my uncle, he has a new cap.
And that idiot student of his -- I never saw that muffler before.
Poor uncle, he lets them load him.
How sad he is, how tired!
I wonder what they'll do with his bones?
And that beautiful tail!
How many shoelaces will they make of that!

Good morning, edgar. I know so little about the Beat generation, but obviously your poem is about an animal, Texas. The Tibetan yak, right?

http://pchanez.club.fr/Himalaya/yak.jpg

Here's one from Allen Ginsberg.

From Death to Van Gogh's Ear!
...Poet is Priest
Money has reckoned the soul of America
Congress broken thru to the precipice of Eternity
the President built a War machine which will vomit and rear up Russia out of
Kansas
The American Century betrayed by a mad Senate which no longer sleeps with its
wife
Franco has murdered Lorca the fairy son of Whitman
just as Mayakovsky committed suicide to avoid Russia
Hart Crane distinguished Platonist committed suicide to cave in the wrong
America
just as millions of tons of human wheat were burned in secret caverns under the
White House
while India starved and screamed and ate mad dogs full of rain
and mountains of eggs were reduced to white powder in the halls of Congress
no godfearing man will walk there again because of the stink of the rotten eggs of
America
and the Indians of Chiapas continue to gnaw their vitaminless tortillas
aborigines of Australia perhaps gibber in the eggless wilderness
and I rarely have an egg for breakfast tho my work requires infinite eggs to come
to birth in Eternity
eggs should be eaten or given to their mothers

Certainly nothing politically correct about that one, folks.

Your yak, reminded me of this poem, edgar.

The Flower-Fed Buffaloes
(Vachel Lindsay)

The flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
In the days of long ago,
Ranged where the locomotives sing
And the prairie flowers lie low:
The tossing, blooming, perfumed grass
Is swept away by wheat,
Wheels and wheels and wheels spin by
In the spring that still is sweet.
But the flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
Left us long ago,
They gore no more, they bellow no more: -
With the Blackfeet lying low,
With the Pawnee lying low.

When we were in love I pretended you didn't exist
That way I loved you more
You suggested we get married and move into a house
I suggested that we jump overboard
And live underwater in the lost city of Atlantis
Where mermaids sing
And tuxedoed dolphins bring you breakfast

One year later I was transfered to the moon
Worse pay, better hours
I was transfered to the moon
Worse pay, better fellow workers

I built our love out of blood
I went to the dentist and told him "take out my heart"
I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now
I feel better than James Brown

I was attending Mardi Gras with Fidel Castro
Bucksome cross dressers threw fake gold coins at our feet
As we discussed the fate of the revolution
Suddenly, CIA men dressed in bikinis
Tried to stab us with fountain pens
Fidel blew mustard gas from his cigar
And immobalized the lot of them
19 tequilas later we had a deal
Havana goes back to the mob
And Fidel and I open a chain of Kentucky Fried Chicken shops

Ain't life sweet? I feel good
I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now
I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now, how do you feel?

I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now
I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now
I feel better than James Brown
I feel better now, how do you feel

Ain't life grand, dys?

Of all things, folks, this song was played in a movie called The Knight's Tale. Funny, too.

Queen

Buddy you're a boy make a big noise
Playin' in the street gonna be a big man some day
You got mud on yo' face
You big disgrace
Kickin' your can all over the place
Singin'

We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you

Buddy you're a young man hard man
Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day
You got blood on yo' face
You big disgrace
Wavin' your banner all over the place
We will we will rock you
Sing it
We will we will rock you

Buddy you're an old man poor man
Pleadin' with your eyes gonna make you some peace some day
You got blood on your face
You big disgrace
Somebody better put you back into your place

We will we will rock you
Sing it
We will we will rock you
Everybody
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you

Alright

I declare, folks. That hawk has swooped down and stolen our pup.

The Midnight Special
The Midnight Special by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Well, you wake up in the mornin', you hear the work bell ring,
And they march you to the table to see the same old thing.
Ain't no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan.
But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man.

Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

Yonder come miss Rosie, how in the world did you know?
By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore.
Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand;
She come to see the gov'nor, she wants to free her man.

Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

If you're ever in Houston, well, you better do the right;
You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're prison bound.

Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

Before I play another by Creedence, I just found a mouse that I've been searching for, folks.

Anyone remember this little fellow?

http://www.fortunecity.com/bennyhills/pun/190/klondikekat8.jpg

Ok, Victor, here ya go...

I see the bad "mouse" a-risin'.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

Don't go around tonight.
Well, it's bound to take your life.
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes a-blowin'.
I know the end is comin' soon.
I feel rivers overflowin'.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

Don't go around tonight.
Well, it's bound to take your life.
There's a bad moon on the rise.
Alright.

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

Well, don't go around tonight.
Well, it's bound to take your life.
There's a bad mouse on the rise.

Don't come around tonight.
Well, it's bound to take your life.
There's a bad "mouse "on the rise

the yakking reminds me of the Coasters Razz

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Just finish cleanin' up your room
Let's see that dust fly with that broom
Get all that garbage out of sight
Or you don't go out Friday night
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Don't you give me no dirty looks
Your father's hip; he knows what cooks
Just tell your hoodlum friend outside
You ain't got time to take a ride
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak

FADE
Yakety yak, yakety yak
