BOB DYLAN lyrics - "Forever Young"

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Well, TTH, we certainly know that Bob Dylan is "forever young." Thanks, gal, and as you know, St. Augustine is where the REAL fountain of youth is secreted.

I was in St. Augustine recently. I know this is off-topic but I took a picture
of a sign (not the fountain of youth one)

Off topic, TTH? Nothing is off topic on our cyber radio station. Let's just call it a brief account of your travels in Florida.

Folks, we are looking at a sign that denotes the Cathedral of St. Augustine.

Imagine, if you will, this song by Tanita Tikaram as it plays in the background.

I saw you from the cathedral
You were watching me
And I saw from the cathedral
What I should be

So take my lies
And take my time
'Cos all the others want to take my life

And I watch you with an intent, basic
It's the same for you
You hold your hand
And it's all fine - laced and
What would you make me do?

So take my lies
And take my time
'Cos all the others want to take my life

Serious for the winter time
To wrench my soul
whole cotton, whole cotton ears
But I know there must be
There must be, yes, I know there must be a place to go

You saw me from the cathedral
Well I'm an ancient heart
Yes, you saw me from the cathedral
Well here we are just falling apart

You catch me
I'm tired
I want all that you are

I saw you from the cathedral
You were leaving me
And I saw from the cathedral
You could not see to see

So take my lies
And take my time
'Cos all the others want to take my life

and a brief bio of this young singer, folks.

Tanita Tikaram: the name is as memorable as her music -- distinctive, idiosyncratic, exotic. And it's that same haunting originality that comes to life on Lovers In The City, the singer and songwriter's latest release on Reprise Records.

As an eighteen-year-old, fresh out of school, Tanita Tikaram swept into international prominence during the New Waif era of the late Eighties, and has since pulled out far ahead of the pack with a sound and style completely her own. While her emergence might seem like the quintessential bolt from the blue, in point of fact, Tanita's remarkable musical history stretches back considerably further.

Tanita Tikaram was born in Munster, Germany where her father, an Indian-Fijian British Army officer, was stationed with his Malaysian wife. It was Tanita's mother who gave her daughter that euphonious first name, for no other reason than its melodious sound.

In The Mood
Glenn Miller & His Orchestra

[Words by Andy Razaf]
[Music by Joe Garland]

Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size
I'll just tell him, baby, won't you swing it with me
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely, darlin', may I intrude
He said, don't keep me waitin'
When I'm in the mood

First I held him lightly and we started to dance
Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance
And I said, hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me
Well, he answered, baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin'
When they're in the mood

In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say I'm in the mood now

In the mood for all his kissin'
In the mood his crazy lovin'
In the mood what I was missin'
It didn't take me long to say
I'm in the mood now

---- Instrumental Interlude ----

So, I said politely, darlin' may I intrude
He said, Don't keep me waitin'
When I'm in the mood

---- Instrumental Interlude ----

Well, he answered, baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood

Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size

ah, edgar. I see that we are doing mood music this early evening. Love it, Texas, and how about this one, buddy.

Willie Nelson version.

Moonlight becomes you
It goes with your hair
You certainly know
The right thing to wear
Moonlight becomes you
And I'm thrilled at the sight
And we could get
So romantic tonight

You're all dressed up
To go dreaming now
Don't tell me I'm wrong
And what a night
To go dreaming
Mind if I tag along

Moonlight becomes you
And I want you to know
It's not just because
There's moonlight
Although moonlight becomes you so

[ piano - guitar ]

Moonlight becomes you...

It's A Blue World
Tony Martin

It's a blue world without you
It's a blue world alone
My days and nights
That once were filled with heaven
With you away how empty they have grown
It's a blue world from now on
It's a through world for me
The sea, the sky, my heart and I
We're all an indigo hue
Without you, it's a blue, blue world

Tony Martin, edgar? Wow! I knew that The Four Freshmen did that one, but not Tony.

Here's another romance song as done by James Taylor.

JAMES TAYLOR Song Lyrics

My Romance
(From the album "THAT'S WHY I'M HERE")

My romance doesn't need to have a moon in the sky
My romance doesn't need a blue lagoon standing by
No month of May
No shining star
No hideaway
No soft guitar

My romance doesn't need a castle rising in Spain
Nor a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
Wide awake I can make my most fantastic dreams come true
'Cause my romance doesn't need a thing but you

how but some Bill Haley & the Comets (love that name) to keep WA2K going round the clock?

One, two, three o'clock, four o'clock rock
Five, six, seven o'clock, eight o'clock rock
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock rock
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight

Put your glad rags on, join me, Hon
We'll have some fun when the clock strikes one
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
Wer're gonna rock, gonna rock around the clock tonight

When the clock strikes two, three and four
If the band slows down we'll yell for more
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock around the clock tonight

[Instrumental Interlude]

When the chimes ring five, six, and seven
We'll be right in seventh heaven
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock around the clock tonight

When it's eight, nine, ten, eleven too
I'll be goin' strong and so will you
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock around the clock tonight

[Instrumental Interlude]

When the clock strikes twelve, we'll cool off then
Start a'rockin' round the clock again
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock around the clock tonight

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

Hey, Mr. Turtle. I find it odd that Reyn's "I love turtles" thread pops up at the same time you are rocking around the clock. No, I won't say it, but it is something to think about, right?

Two things for this morning. First a rant or op ed.

WASHINGTON - Americans get the poorest health care and yet pay the most compared to five other rich countries, according to a report released on Tuesday.
Germany, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada all provide better care for less money, the Commonwealth Fund report found.
"The U.S. health care system ranks last compared with five other nations on measures of quality, access, efficiency, equity, and outcomes," the non-profit group, which studies health care issues, said in a statement.

Evil or Very Mad

and, now a mythology song which may not be such a myth after all.

The Bloody Rage Of The Titans by Rhapsody

[Turilli / Staropoli]

Between my trees the unicorn runs
from the highest mountains the water falls
Flowers and plants now caress my eyes
along these holy valleys kissed by light
And I am victim of this spell
wonderful symphony of enchanted lands...

The whisper of spring is now carried by winds
the winds from the land of the fire
Where peace is a gift from the king of the kings
It seems so strongly unreal... unreal!

Dragons and demons beware!
It's the rage of the titans...
Is the titans' bloody rage!
Warlords and steelgods beware!
It's the rage of the titans...
Is the titans' bloody rage!

The oak, my sister, smiles at the sun
now free from the weight of winter
The eagles fly from mountain to mountain
enchanting my heart... brave heart!

Dragons and demons beware!

It's the rage of the titans...
Is the titans' bloody rage!
Warlords and steelgods beware!
It's the rage of the titans...
Is the titans' bloody rage!

i came across a thread on metaphoric songs by the Pentacle Queen, which made me think of this Bob Marley song, although it may be more an example of double entendre than metaphor

Stir it up little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
It's been a long long time since I've got you on my mind
And now you are here
I say it's so clear
To see what we can do, honey, just me and you

Come on and stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
I'll push the wood, I'll blaze your fire
Then I'll satisfy your heart's desire
Said I'll stir it up, yeah, ev'ry minute, yeah
All you got to do is keep it in, baby
And stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up, yeah

Oh, will you quench me while I'm thirsty?
Come and cool me down when I'm hot?
Your recipe, darling, is so tasty
And you sure can stir your pot
So stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up

Yes, Mr. Turtle, I would definitely say that has two meanings. Love it, M.D.

Rather reminds me of "Sixty-Minute Man".

Here's something of an oddity, folks. My niece told me that my son sang the following song to them from his hospital bed, and thanks to Ragman, I was able to locate it. Also discovered that there are many parodies to this Yiddish number.

Hava nagila,
Hava nagila,
Ve' Nismecha.

Hava nagila,
Hava nagila,
Hava nagila,
Ve' Nismecha.

Hava neranena,
Hava neranena,
Hava neranena,
Ve' Nismecha.

Hava neranena,
Hava neranena,
Hava neranena,
Ve' Nismecha.

Uru, Uru achim,
Uru achim belev sameach,
Uru achim belev sameach,

Know them all, folks. One of these days, we'll get the pup, the hawk, and the turtle all in our wee studio at one time.

Here's one by Janet.

As I was walkin by
Saw you standin there
With a smile
Lookin shy
You caught my eye
Thought youd want to hang
For a while
Well Id like to be with you
And you know its friday too

This weekend to relax and unwind

My minds tired

Just have a good time
Well make the rules up
As we go along
And break them all
If were not havin fun
Come on baby lets get away
Lets save your troubles for another day
Come go with me weve got it made
Let me take you on an escapade (lets go)

My minds tired Ive worked
Worked so hard all week

Ready to go
I promise you Ill show you
Such a good time
Come on baby lets get away
Lets save your troubles for another day
Come go with me weve got it made
Let me take you on an escapade (lets go)

Perhaps he heard the Harry Belafonte version. It's been around since about 1958 or 9.

Leanin' On The Old Top Rail
Bob Crosby & His Orchestra

Leanin' on the ole top rail in the big corral
Lookin' down the twilight trail for my long lost pal
How he sang when he sprang on his ole mustang
And rode away down the track by my shack
He said, I'll be back another day
Now the moon is shining pale on a lonesome gal
Leaning on the ole top rail in the big corral

Let There Be Love
Sammy Kaye & His Orchestra

That moon up high, the night he found us
He threw a magic spell of moonbeams all around us
And when he saw the scene was set
He whispered let there be love

The sleepy birds up in the branches
They stayed awake
They weren't taking any chances
Because they knew that they
Would soon be singing let there be love

The night winds that kissed your cheeks
Had been preparing weeks and weeks
They told the raindrops from above
Be sure and stay away on this night of love
And when they knew we were romancing
They are so overjoyed the stars were even dancing
And then our hearts told us to kiss
And whispered, let there be love

Wow! edgar. Bob Crosby and the Bob Cats? I swear, Texas, I believe someone named J.P. Morgan sang with his band. Will have to check that out.

Incidentally, folks. Bob Dylan also did a version of Hava Negila.

Here's an answer to the Turtle's double entendre:

SIXTY MINUTE MAN
(William Ward)

The Dominoes
The Persuasions
Lead Vocal : Barry Carl

Well, listen here, girls, I'm telling you now,
They call me loving Dan,
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a sixty-minute man.

And if you don't believe I'm all I say,
Come up and take my hand.
As soon as I leave you go, you'll cry
"Oh yeah, he's a sixty-minute man!"

Chorus
There'll be fifteen minutes of kissing,
And then you'll holler, "Danny boy, please don't stop!"
There'll be fifteen minutes of teasing, fifteen minutes of
pleasing,
Fifteen minutes of blowing my top (mop! mop! mop!)

Well, if your man ain't treating you right,
Come up and see your Dan.
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a sixty-minute man.

Chorus 2
Sixty (minute man)
Well they call me (loving Dan)
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a sixty-minute man.

Repeat chorus 2

Repeat chorus

Well, if your man ain't treating you right,
Come up and see your Dan.
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a sixty-minute man.
Oh yeah! Sixty minute,
Rocking, rolling, ramming, jamming all night long

I'm a sixty-minute man.

TALKIN' HAVA NEGEILAH BLUES

Words and Music by Bob Dylan

Here's a foreign song I learned in Utah-
Ha-va-ne-gei-lah
O-de-ley-e-e-oo-

*** In this comedy routine, Dylan drags it out a while, but this is all he sang, compressed into three lines.

Well, folks, this has become quite interesting, so let's hear a little background on the song.

Hava Nagila's Long, Strange Trip
The unlikely history of a Hasidic melody.
By James Loeffler
If there is one Jewish song known by Jews and non-Jews alike, it is undoubtedly Hava Nagila. From its obscure origins in early twentieth-century Palestine, the song has gone on to become a perennial favorite at weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and Jewish--and non-Jewish--cultural events around the world. With its short lyrics and simple yet distinctive melody, Hava Nagila has been recorded hundreds of times by musicians ranging from Neil Diamond, the Barry Sisters, and Harry Belafonte to the contemporary pop singer Ben Folds and the Serbian Gypsy brass band legend Boban Marcovic. Yet for all of its widespread popularity, few know the history of this global Jewish hit.
