morning Let .... here is another fave

James Blunt You're Beautiful Lyrics

my life is brilliant
my love is pure
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful thats true
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do.
cos i'll never be with you
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

Yes, she caught my eye,
As I walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
flying high
'And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
I saw your face in a crowded place,
and i don't know what to do.
i will never be with you
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
But its time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
and she thought up that I should be with you.

But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

Gee Ge, the lyrics are lovely, honey, but alas my studio equipment is a mite outmoded, I'm afraid. Nice to see you back, however.

Well, I need to do a station break as I have Easter guests today.

This is cyber space, WA2K radio.

Hey again, folks. This is really odd to me. For the past two days I have watched two movies that I really enjoyed. One, The Majestic, and today, Mr. Holland's Opus. In both, Mr. Aker Bilk's song, "Strangers on the Shore" was featured.

Much to my surprise, I discovered that there are lyrics to that song, and that the entire music was written about a French au pair girl who was living in the U.K. and felt isolated and alone.

Let's listen, then.

Here I stand, watching the tide go out
So all alone and blue
Just dreaming dreams of you

I watched your ship as it sailed out to sea
Taking all my dreams
And taking all of me

The sighing of the waves
The wailing of the wind
The tears in my eyes burn
Pleading, "My love, return"

Why, oh, why must I go on like this?
Shall I just be a lonely stranger on the shore?

The sighing of the waves
The wailing of the wind
The tears in my eyes burn
Pleading, "My love, return"

Why, oh, why must I go on like this?
Shall I just be a lonely stranger on the shore?

Quote:
Canadian Railroad Trilogy

There was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run
When the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun
Long before the white man and long before the wheel
When the green dark forest was too silent to be real

But time has no beginnings and hist'ry has no bounds
As to this verdant country they came from all around
They sailed upon her waterways and they walked the forests tall
Built the mines the mills and the factories for the good of us all

And when the young man's fancy was turnin' in the spring
The railroad men grew restless for to hear the hammers ring
Their minds were overflowing with the visions of their day
And many a fortune won and lost and many a debt to pay

For they looked in the future and what did they see
They saw an iron road runnin' from sea to the sea
Bringin' the goods to a young growin' land
All up through the seaports and into their hands

Look away said they across this mighty land
From the eastern shore to the western strand
Bring in the workers and bring up the rails
We gotta lay down the tracks and tear up the trails
Open 'er heart let the life blood flow
Gotta get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow

Bring in the workers and bring up the rails
We're gonna lay down the tracks and tear up the trails
Open 'er heart let the life blood flow
Gotta get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow
Get on our way 'cause we're movin' too slow

Behind the blue Rockies the sun is declinin'
The stars, they come stealin' at the close of the day
Across the wide prairie our loved ones lie sleeping
Beyond the dark oceans in a place far away

We are the navvies who work upon the railway
Swingin' our hammers in the bright blazin' sun
Livin' on stew and drinkin' bad whiskey
Bendin' our old backs 'til the long days are done

We are the navvies who work upon the railway
Swingin' our hammers in the bright blazin' sun
Layin' down track and buildin' the bridges
Bendin' our old backs 'til the railroad is done

So over the mountains and over the plains
Into the muskeg and into the rain
Up the St. Lawrence all the way to Gaspe
Swingin' our hammers and drawin' our pay
Drivin' 'em in and tyin' 'em down
Away to the bunkhouse and into the town
A dollar a day and a place for my head
A drink to the livin' and a toast to the dead

Oh the song of the future has been sung
All the battles have been won
O'er the mountain tops we stand
All the world at our command
We have opened up the soil
With our teardrops and our toil

For there was a time in this fair land when the railroad did not run
When the wild majestic mountains stood alone against the sun
Long before the white man and long before the wheel
When the green dark forest was too silent to be real
When the green dark forest was too silent to be real
And many are the dead men too silent to be real

Ah, hbg. I adore Gordon Lightfoot, and that song was wistful and tender, Canada. "...and many are the dead men too silent to be real..." . That line gave us a shiver not caused by the weather.

Hey, listeners, if we're going to talk trains, let's listen to The Trane. I'm talking jazz man John Coltrane "so full of soul Trane". He only left the footprint of his melody on the world.

My One And Only Love lyrics

The very thought of you makes
My heart sing
Like an April breeze
On the wings of spring

And you appear in all your splendor
My one and only love

The shadows fall
And spread their mystic charms
In the hush of night
While you're in my arms
I feel your lips so warm and tender
My one and only love

The touch of your hand is like heaven
A heaven that I've never known
The blush on your cheek
Whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own

You fill my eager heart with
Such desire
Every kiss you give
Sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love

The blush on your cheek
Whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own
You fill my eager heart with
Such desire
Every kiss you give
Sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love

My one and only love

Ah, Brenda Lee. We both were young; I was infatuated. Then she married the gas station attendant in her home town.

Sweet Nothin's
Brenda Lee

[Written by Dub Allbritten/Ronnie Self]

(Whispering) Uh Huh Honey
(Whispering) Alright

My baby whispers in my ear
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
He knows the things I like to hear
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
Things he wouldn't tell
Nobody else
Secret baby
I keep them to myself
Sweet Nothin's
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's

We walk along hand in hand
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
Yeah, we both understand
Ummm Sweet Nothin's
Sittin' in the classroom trying to read my book
My baby give me that special look
Sweet Nothin's
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's

---- Instrumental Interlude ----

Ah, sittin on my front porch
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
Well, do I love you, of course
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
Mama turned on the front porch light
Sayin' "Come here darlin' that' enough for tonight"
Sweet Nothin's
Ummm, Sweet Nothin's
Sweet Nothin's

The gas station attendant, edgar? If he got a percentage of the product he dispensed, Brenda is independently wealthy. Razz

You know, it's funny, folks, I never developed an infatuation with the performer, just his music. Well, maybe one or two local ones.

This your Brenda, Texas?

Breaking news:

Captain charged in cruise ship sinking By NICHOLAS PAPHITIS, Associated Press Writer
22 minutes ago

ATHENS, Greece - The captain of a cruise ship that sank in the Aegean Sea was charged Saturday with negligence, a government official said.

A Merchant Marine Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that a prosecutor charged the captain but said she could not confirm a report on state NET TV that five other officers also were charged. She spoke anonymously according to customary government policy. Two French passengers are missing after the Sea Diamond hit rocks and foundered Thursday near Santorini island. The rest of the 1,154 passengers and 391 crew were safely evacuated.

If upheld in court, the charges carry a maximum five-year sentence.

Ahhh, age just makes one mellow, edgar."grow old along with me, the best is yet to be, the last of life for which the first was made." Know that quote, Texas?

For our edgar from Brenda:

Say it now while you can, whisper low, hold my hand
It's never too late to say "I love you."
I know it's true, I broke your heart. But I love you too much to part.
It's never too late to say "I love you."
Everywhere I go, everyone I know tells me you're still in love.
So if they are right, please tell me tonight
You'll always be my only love.

Say it now while you can, whisper low, hold my hand
It's never too late to say "I love you."
Everywhere I go, everyone I know tells me you're still in love.
So if they are right, please tell me tonight
You'll always be my only love.
Say it now while you can, whisper low, hold my hand
It's never too late to say "I love you."
I love you, oh yes, I love you. . .

Edgar is going to love this one ........

Bob Dylan My Back Pages Lyrics
My Back Pages

Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
We'll meet on edges, soon, said I
Proud 'neath heated brow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
Rip down all hate, I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
Equality, I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

My Back Pages
This song is the Byrd's version of the song, covered by Neil Young, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roger McGuinn and Bob Dylan in 1992 at a concert celebrating Dylan's 30-year anniversary of recording.

Gettin' in Tune
The Who

I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well
With the chords I'm playing
I can't pretend there's any meaning
Hidden in the things I'm saying

But I'm in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you
Right in on you
Right in on you

I get a little tired of having to say
"Do you come here often?"
But when I look in your eyes and see the harmonies
And the heartaches soften

I'm getting in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you

I've got it all here in my head
There's nothing more needs to be said
I'm just bangin' on my old piano
I'm getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)
Getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)
Yeah, I'm getting in tune to the straight and narrow
(Getting in tune to the straight and narrow)

I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well
With the way I'm feeling
There's a symphony that I hear in your heart
Sets my head a-reeling

But I'm in tune
Right in tune
I'm in tune
And I'm gonna tune
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you (right in on you)
Right in on you

Baby, with you
Baby, with you
Baby, with you
Baby, with you
Baby, with you

I've got it all here in my head
There's nothing more needs to be said
I'm just bangin' on my old piano
I'm getting in tune with the straight and narrow

Getting in tune to the straight and narrow (repeat)

The Harder They Fall
By Phil Ochs

F
London Bridge is falling down,
E Am
And the people want their crown.
D G
They are not fooling a-round.
C G C /C7/F
Gimme my crown, gimme my crown, gimme my crown.
F
So I'll say these words to you,
Dm C
Though you won't believe a word I say...
G
Gonna say the words anyway.

Bb Am
Poems are pretty; Tales are tall.
Bb
Only the witches recall:
A G
The bigger they are, The harder they fall.

Jack and Jill went up the hill
They were looking for a thrill
But she forgot to take her pill
Gimme my pill, gimme my pill, gimme my pill
Through our fantasies we fly
In the prison of our dreams we die
Dieting in an apple pie

*chorus*

Mary had a little lamb
Couldn't make it with a man
She buried babies in the sand
Gimme my sand, gimme my sand, gimme my sand
So the visions came to stay
She was beheaded on a holiday
That's the price you have to pay

*chorus*

Mother goose is on the loose
Stealing lines from Lenny Bruce
Drinking booze and killing jews
Gimme my jews, gimme my booze, gimme my jews
Six million jingles can't be wrong
From the dragon to the Viet Cong
Fairy tales have come along

Seems as though edgar knows "My Back Pages", Ge.

Well, folks, there's our dj back with The Who. Great to see you again, Canada. Like those "in tune" lyrics.

I have a couple of songs that I want to play, but first, let's listen to Peter of the group.

The river is always flowing
Relentless towards the costal tides
It travels down to the great ocean
While most of us simply watch from the water side

The water becomes siddhartha's teacher
Sometimes powerful and stern
Sometimes gentle , forgiving
It never changes in direction
As it carries even mountains down to the sea

I'll take you over
I don't want your money
Just hang on tight
Till we reach the other wall
Things in vegas
They all cling to my ankle
The horn blows wide, and the currents roar

God fill this gutter
That breaks my shoulder
Smash me to pieces
And wash me to mud
Dry me to dust
And set me to smolder
Please let me dissolve in the autumn flood

The rivers always flowing
But I'm free now
From it's grace
I'll be swept down to the ocean
And now you
You will take my place

The Gas Man Cometh
Flanders and Swann

'Twas on a Monday morning the gas man came to call.
The gas tap wouldn't turn - I wasn't getting gas at all.
He tore out all the skirting boards to try and find the main
And I had to call a carpenter to put them back again.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Tuesday morning the carpenter came round.
He hammered and he chiselled and he said:
"Look what I've found: your joists are full of dry rot
But I'll put them all to rights".
Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights!

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Wednesday morning the electrician came.
He called me Mr. Sanderson, which isn't quite the name.
He couldn't reach the fuse box without standing on the bin
And his foot went through a window so I called the glazier in.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Thursday morning the glazier came round
With his blow torch and his putty and his merry glazier's song.
He put another pane in - it took no time at all
But I had to get a painter in to come and paint the wall.

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

'Twas on a Friday morning the painter made a start.
With undercoats and overcoats he painted every part:
Every nook and every cranny - but I found when he was gone
He'd painted over the gas tap and I couldn't turn it on!

Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do.

On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all;
So 'twas on a Monday morning that the gasman came to call...

and, listeners, as edgar does Phil and dj does Flanders and Swann, here is a dedication to our Soccer George.

Johnny Nash

I Can See Clearly Now

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin?for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there's nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

here is a song by someone who might want to join us at the "kicking horse pass" in alberta .

Quote:
Artist/Band: Brandt Paul

Lyrics for Song: Alberta Bound

Lyrics for Album: This Time Around
----------------------------------------------
Sign said 40 miles to Canada

My truck tore across Montana
Ian Tyson sang a lonesome lullaby
And so I cranked up the radio
Cause there's just a little more to go
For I'd cross the border at that Sweet Grass sign
I'm Alberta Bound

This piece of heaven that I've found
Rocky Mountains and black fertile ground
Everything I need beneath that big blue sky
Doesn't matter where I go
This place will always be my home
Yeah I've been Alberta Bound for all my life
And I'll be Alberta Bound until I die

It's a pride that's been passed down to me
Deep as coal mines, wide as farmer's fields
Yeah, I've got independence in my veins
Maybe it's my down-home redneck roots

Or these dusty 'ol Alberta boots
But like a Chinook wind keeps coming back again

heard this tune on the radio recently

Gypsy In My Soul

If I am fancy free,
And love to wander,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

There's something calling me
From way out yonder,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

I've got to give vent to my emotions,
I'm only content havin' my way

There is no other life,
Of which I'm fonder,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

No cares!
No strings!
My heart has wings!

If I am fancy free,
And I love to wander,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

(Instrumental Break)

I've got to give vent to my emotions,
I'm only content havin' my way

There is no other life,
Of which I'm fonder,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

No cares!
No strings!
My heart has wings!

If I am fancy free,
And love to wander,
It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

It's just the Gypsy in my soul!

Just the Gypsy in my soul!
