Love it, edgar, and here's one to match from Madonna

Sooner Or Later

Sooner or later you're gonna be mine,
Sooner or later you're gonna be fine.
Baby, it's time that you face it,
I always get my man.

Sooner or later you're gonna decide,
Sooner or later there's nowhere to hide.
Baby, it's time, so why waste it in chatter?
Let's settle the matter.

Baby, you're mine on a platter,
I always get my man.

But if you insist, babe, the challenge delights me.
The more you resist, babe, the more it excites me.
And no one I've kissed, babe, ever fights me again.
If you're on my list, it's just a question of when.

When I get a yen, then baby, Amen.
I'm counting to ten, and then ...

I'm gonna love you like nothing you've known,
I'm gonna love you, and you all alone.
Sooner is better than later but lover,
I'll hover, I'll plan.

This time I'm not only getting, I'm holding my man.

From the movie, Dick Tracy.

Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life Lyrics
MR. GRAYDON:
Ah! Sweet mystery of life
At last I've found thee
Ah! I know at last the secret of it all!

MISS DOROTHY:
All the longing, seeking, striving, waiting, yearning
The burning hopes, the joy and idle tears that fall

MR. GRAYDON:
I've a very strange feeling I never felt before
'Tis a kind of a grind of depression

MISS DOROTHY:
My heart's acting strangely; it feels rather sore
At least it gives me that impression

MR. GRAYDON:
My pulses leap madly without any cause
Believe me, I'm telling you truly

MISS DOROTHY:
I'm gay without pause
Then sad without cause

MR. GRAYDON:
My spirits are truly unruly
For I'm falling in love with someone
Some one girl
I'm falling in love with someone
Head awhirl!

BOTH:
Yes, I'm falling in love with someone
Plain to see

MR. GRAYDON:
I'm sure I could love someone madly
If someone would only love me

(They dance an impassioned if acrobatic pas de deux.)

BOTH:
Yes, I'm falling in love with someone
Plain to see
I'm sure I could love someone madly
If someone would only love me

Hey, dj. Missed you again, and I did not know that The Beautiful South also did that one, Canada.

Well, the survivors in Lake Mary, Florida described the tornado that recently swept through as sounding like a freight train, so let's do one by Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Freight Train

Chorus:
Freight train freight train goin' so fast
Freight train freight train goin' so fast
Please don't tell what train I'm on
So they won't know where I've gone.

Freight train, freight train, comin' round the bend
Freight train, freight train, gone again
One of these days turn that train around
Go back to my hometown.

(Chorus)

One more place I'd like to be
One more place I'd love to see
To watch those old Blue Ridge Mountains climb
As I ride ol' Number Nine.

(Chorus)

When I die please bury me deep
Down at the end of Bleecker Street
So I can hear ol' Number Nine
As she goes rollin' by.

(Chorus)

Little Boy Soldiers
The Jam

Its funny how you never knew what my name was,
Our only contact was a form for the election.
These days I find that you don't listen,
These days I find that we're out of touch,
These days I find that I'm too busy,
So why the attention now you want my assistance -
What have you done for me.

You've gone and got yourself in trouble,
No you want me to help you out.

These days I find that I can't be bothered,
These days I find that its all too much,
To pick up a gun and shoot a stranger,
But I've got no choice so here I come - war games.

I'm up on the hills, playing little boy soldiers,
Reconnaissance duty up at 5:30.
Shoot shoot shoot and kill the natives,
You're one of us and we love you for that.

Think of honour, Queen and country,
You're a blessed son of the British Empire,
God's on our side and so is Washington.

Come out on the hills with the little boy soldiers.

Come on outside - I'll sing you a lullaby,
Or tell a tale of how goodness prevailed.

We ruled the world - we killed and robbed,
The f**king lot - but we don't feel bad.

It was done beneath the flag of democracy,
You'll believe and I do - yes I do - yes I do -
yes I do -

These days I find that I can't be bothered,
To argue withthem well what's the point,
Better to take your shots and drop down dead,
then they send you home in a pine overcoat

With a letter to your mum

Saying find enclosed one son - one medal and a note -
to say he won.

Hey, hbg. Wow! you Canadians are fast. My mom loved Jenette and Nelson. Thanks for the reminder as today is her wedding anniversary.

dj, we switched themes, buddy, but that's okay. Remember this one, folks?

One Tin Soldier
Originally performed by Original Castle

Listen children to a story that was written long ago
About a kingdom on a mountain and the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own

So go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven, you'll be justified in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day
On the bloody morning after one, one tin soldier rides away

So the people from the valley sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom, "With our brothers we will share
all the secrets of our mountain, all the riches buried there"

Now the valley cried with anger "Mount your horses, draw your swords"
And they killed the mountain people so they won their just reward
As they stood beside the treasure on the mountain dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it, "Peace on Earth" was all it said

So go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven, you'll be justified in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day
On the bloody morning after one, one tin soldier rides away

so is this going to be an evening of operetta songs ?
i'll give you "stouthearted men" Laughing !
hbg(still Laughing )

You who have dreams
If you act, they'll come true
To turn your dreams to a fact
It's up to you
If you have the soul and the spirit
Never fear it, you'll see it through
Hearts can inspire
Other hearts with their fire
For the strong obey
When a strong man shows them the way

Give me some men who are stout-hearted men
Who will fight for the right they adore
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men
And I'll soon give you ten thousand more-ore

Shoulder to shoulder, and bolder and bolder
They grow as they go to the fore
Then there's nothing in the world
Can halt or mar a plan
When stout-hearted men
Can stick together - man - to man...

Oh...
Give me some men who are stout-hearted men
Who will fight for the right they adore
Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men
And I'll soon give you ten thousand more-ore

Shoulder to shoulder, and bolder and bolder
They grow as they go to the fore
Then there's nothing in the world
Can halt or mar a plan
When stout-hearted men
Can stick together - man - to man...
(Give me some men who are stout-hearted men) [fade]

"Im Chambre Séparée" (From DER OPERNBALL, Heuberger, 1898)

http://www.minevitus.nl/plaatjes/ph-chambre-2.jpg

O! come with me awhile apart
In cosy corner made for two,
While wine is flowing then heart to heart,
I'll whisper sweet secrets to you!

Then come apart, dear heart,
Come leave the dance and the merry song
And gay lights gleaming from day time long, one hour of dreaming,

O! come with me awhile apart
In cosy corner made for two,
While wine is flowing then heart to heart,
I'll whisper sweet secrets to you!

ah, hamburger. What wonderful songs for a late night evening. I am glad that you translated the German for the second one.

Know what? Even Setanta knows this one, and it will be my goodnight song.

INDIAN LOVE CALL

When I'm calling you - oo-oo-oo ...
Will you answer too - oo-oo-oo ...
That means I offer my love to you, to be your own
If you refuse me I will be blue and waiting all alone
But if when you hear my love call ringing clear
And I hear your answering echo, so dear
Then I will know our love will come true
You belong to me, I'll belong to you

My bed is calling now, so goodnight

From Letty with love

hbg

Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you.
Put a smile on your face,
It's a brand new day

Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you.
Each day is a new gift to open and use.

Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you.
It's a brand new day.

The sun's rising up warming all on the ground.
The birds in the trees are singing the sounds...
It's a new day! It's a new day!
Join me and say...

Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you.
Put a smile on your face,
It's a brand new day

Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you,
It's a brand new day.

Good morning!

Good Morning Good Morning
The Beatles

Nothing to do to save his life call his wife in
Nothing to say but what a day how's your boy been
Nothing to do it's up to you
I've got nothing to say but it's O.K.
Good morning, good morning...
Going to work don't want to go feeling low down
Heading for home you start to roam then you're in town
Everybody knows there's nothing doing
Everything is closed it's like a ruin
Everyone you see is half asleep.
And you're on your own you're in the street
Good morning, good morning...
After a while you start to smile now you feel cool.
Then you decide to take a walk by the old school.
Nothing has changed it's still the same
I've got nothing to say but it's O.K.
Good morning, good morning...
People running round it's five o'clock.
Everywhere in town is getting dark.
Everyone you see is full of life.
It's time for tea and meet the wife.
Somebody needs to know the time, glad that I'm here.
Watching the skirts you start to flirt now you're in gear.
Go to a show you hope she goes.
I've got nothing to say but it's O.K.
Good morning, good morning...

ROLF HARRIS » Sun Arise

Sun arise, she bring in the morning.
Sun arise, bring in the morning, fluttering her skirts all around.
Sun arise, she come with the dawning.
Sun arise, come with the dawning, spreading all the light all around.

Sun arise, on the kangaroo paw.
Sun arise, on the kangaroo paw, glistening the dew all around.

Sun arise, filling all the hollows,
Sun arise, filling all the hollows, lighting up the hills all around.

Sun arise, come with the dawning,
Sun arise, she come every day.
Sun arise, bring in the morning,
Sun arise, every, every, every, every, day.
She drive away the darkness, every day,
Drive away the darkness,
Bringing back the warmth to the ground.

Sun arise, oh, oh,
Sun arise, oh, oh,
Spreading all the light all around.

Sun arise, bring in the morning.
Sun arise, bring in the morning, spreading all the light all around.

Good morning, WA2K folks. hbg, dj, and edgar, wonderful good morning songs, guys, and I will add mine to the mix:

There are days when those gray skies
Make you blue
Each forward step you take
You fall back by two
You've been hit by some hard knocks
You just can't stand
Feeling like Alice felt
In Wonderland
Let me be the one to lend a hand

CHORUS:

Call my name and I'll be there
There's nothing like the laughter that we share
Whenever you need someone
Or a shoulder to lean on
Call my name and I'll be there
And when life's going your way
Just like a breeze
It's a kite-flying kind of day
Above the trees
Together we'll be making memories

REPEAT CHORUS

As this world turns us around
We hang on to what we've found
A treasure we both need
I will go that extra mile
To give you back that certain smile

Good morning listeners!

I've been sampling the latest release from a busy A2K'r

Drop by and listen to some great words/melodies and licks from our pal Squeedleboink.

For those of you who weren't able to catch the great Montreal Jazz Fest tribute to Paul Simon, something to make this a smiley day ...

Was a sunny day
Not a cloud was in the sky
Not a negative word was heard
From the people passing by
'Twas a sunny day
All the birdies in the trees
And the radio's singing song
All the favorite melodies

He was a navy man
stationed in Newport News
She was a highschool queen
with nothing really left to lose
She was a highschool queen
with nothing really left to lose

Was a sunny day
Not a cloud was in the sky
Not a negative word was heard
From the people passing by
'Twas a sunny day
All the birdies in the trees
And the radio's singing song
All the favorite melodies

Her name was Lorelei
She was his only girl
She called him "Speedoo"
But his Chistian name was Mister Earl
She called him "Speedoo"
But his Chistian name was Mister Earl

Was a sunny day
Not a cloud was in the sky
Not a negative word was heard
From the people passing by
'Twas a sunny day
All the birdies in the trees
And the radio's singing song
All the favorite melodies

Hey, dys. Very short and succinct melody, buddy. Thanks for playing it, but alas, I have no idea from whence it cometh.

My Gawd, ehBeth. I am delighted to know that our boink man is still doing his thing. Unfortunately, gal, my speakers are defunct, but it's simply nice to know that the man is still in business.

Well, your tribute to Paul Simon via the Montreal jazz festival didn't exactly cut through my hungover skies, but it made the sunshine a little better in my "inward eye". Thanks for the bit of sunshine anyway.

From Johnny Nash:

Song: I Can See Clearly Now

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there's nothin but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Good morning, Miss Letty.

Tea for the Tillerman was from our friend Cat Stevens.

and now from The Stampeders

for a friend ...

Well, I'm on my way, to the city life
To a pretty face that shines her light on the city nights
And I gotta catch a noon train
Gotta be there on time
Oh, it feels so good to know she waits at the end of the line

Sweet, sweet city woman
I can see your face, I can hear your voice, I can almost touch you
Sweet, sweet city woman
Oh, my banjo and me, we got a feel for singin, yeah, yeah,

Bon ci, bon, bon ci, bon, bon, bon ci, bon, bon, bon, bon, bon.
Bon ci, bon, bon ci, bon, bon, bon ci, bon, bon, bon, bon, bon.

Thanks, ehBeth for letting me know that it was the Cat man. Love him, of course. Your dedication song was lovely, honey. I do hope the person for whom you played the song enjoys it.

Another one by Paul:

You've got the cool water
When the fever runs high
You've got the look of lovelight in your eyes
And I was in crazed emotion,
'Til you calmed me down
It took a little time
But you calmed me down

When something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know

when something goes right
Well it's likely to lose me, mm
It's apt to confuse me
It's such an unusual sight
Oh, I can't, I can't get used to something so right
Something so right

They've got a wall in China
It's a thousand miles long
To keep out the foreigners they made it strong
And I've got a wall around me
That you can't even see
It took a little time
To get next to me

When something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
when something goes right
Well it's likely to lose me, mm
It's apt to confuse me
because it's such an unusual sight
Oh, I can't, I can't get used to something so right
Something so right

Some people never say the words "I love you"
It's not their style
to be so bold
Some people never say the words "I love you"
But like a child they're longing to be told, mm

When something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
when something goes right
Well it's likely to lose me, mm
It's apt to confuse me
because it's such an unusual sight
I swear, I can't, I can't get used to something so right
Something so right

trying to remember what summer is like
had to shovel the driveway before going shopping this morning .
in the meantime the snowplow and snowsqualls coming off lake ontario
has dumped another load on the driveway - more shovelling this afternoon .
so i better stick with the crashtest dummies and their 'wintersong' !
hbg

I can't say that I miss my old dog much
And I've never looked back since I left home long ago
But I hoped a trip into the country
Would help remind me all the things I used to know

And that's what I came for
And that's all I hoped for

There once was good blood in the breeze here
We rode across the lake each new year
What have I remembered
What did this used to be

The ice, it used to shine upon our river
It was a mirror that the cold dark water ran way deep beneath
And here were many years of winter drownings
I kept track of these things as they were told to me

And that's what I looked for
That's what I came for...

The changes of the year were once like breathing
Well this year they're the seasons of my discontent
But I cannot rewrite my old diaries
I can only recall all the things that came & went

But that's what I'd come for
And that's what I'd hoped for
