ah, folks, Our Raggedy has done her beautiful pictures again, and they are marvelous, PA. Love Norman and Michener, of course. Thanks again, gal. Perhaps our hawkman will arrive soon. Let us hope so.
hbg, that was a lovely song, Canada, and here is a warm up song for you and dedicated to Michener's Hawaii:
Where the golden sunbeams
And the lazy land dreams
All the happy years thru
You'll belong to me and I to you
Come with me where moonbeams
Light Tahitian skies
And the starlit waters
Linger in you eyes
Native hills are calling
To them we belong
And we'll cheer each other
With the pagan love song
Ah,the wonderful book called Hawaii, by Michener. This song is a memory of Bora Bora.
Fortunately, I now have my studio speakers in working order and am listening to songs from Mr. Lee's marvelous cd. Right now, it is "Change is Happening". Love it, as usual.

Aaaah.
Sing me a song of the islands
Love's serenade, as the trade winds blow
Sing me a song of the islands
While hearts are high and the moon is low
The whisp'ring waters seem to sa-ay,
Aloha au-i ou- e-i
Bring me the frangrance of ginger
Strum your guitar as I dream away
Sing me a song of the islands
Aloha au-i ou- e-i
Aloha au-i ou- e-i
<<SIGH>> I feel a deep ache inside.
Who is Mr. Lee?

Raggedy, Mr. Lee is a fantastic guitarist and vocalist who used to be on our forum so long ago. He has written, sung, and published many songs and cd's. He sent me all of them via snail mail and they are wonderful. See ehBeth's link and you will know, PA.
Ah, yes, gal, lovely song from the islands. For the longest time I didn't realize that Michener had also written The Source as I tended to confuse it with Exodus by Uris.
It's really quite chilly here, listeners, so let's hear another warm song.
This version from Chris Isaak and the venue is the Baja.
Sweet Leilani
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh.
I dreamt of paradise for two. (My lovely Leilani)
You are my paradise completed. (My lovely Leilani)
You are my dream come true.
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh,
Tropic skies are jealous while they shine. (My lovely Leilani)
I think they're jealous of your blue eyes. (My lovely Leilani)
Jealous because you're mine.
I think they're jealous of your blue eyes. (My lovely Leilani)
Jealous because you're mine.
Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh,
Nature's fashion roses kissed with dew. (My lovely Leilani)
And then she placed them in a bower. (My lovely Leilani)
It was the start of you.
My lovely Lei-lan-i.
I wonder what happened to our Leilani Lady?

You Can Have Her
Roy Hamilton
Well you can have her I don't want her she didn't love me anyway
She only wanted someone to play with but all I wanted was a love to stay
Well if you get stuck with the wrong woman there's only one thing that you can do
Just dig a hole and jump right in it and pull the ground right over you
You can have her I don't want her,
She didn't love me anyway
She only wanted someone to play with
But all I wanted was a love to stay
The girl I love she up and left me she ran away with my best friend
Comes home at night just for one hour
When day light comes she's gone again
You can have her...
Life without love is mighty empty but confession's good for the soul
I'd rather have love that I can cling to than have the world and all of its gold
You can have her...

Sorry to disrupt the songs of the islands. I had my song selected before I logged in, as I often do.

No problem, edgar. We play what we feel here on our wee radio. As a matter of record, here is a song by another Hamilton, (not Alexander) and he has also recorded many of Gordon Lightfoot songs as well:
Can you name him, Texas?
Abilene, Abilene
Prettiest town I ever seen.
Folks down there don't treat you mean
In Abilene, my Abilene.
I sit alone most every night
Watch them trains roll out of sight
Wish that they were carryin' me
To Abilene, my Abilene.
Crowded city, ain't nothin' free
Nothin' in this town for me
Wish to God that I could be
In Abilene, my Abilene.
How I wish that train would come
Take me back where I come from.
Take me where I want to be
In Abilene, my Abilene.
Rotgut whiskey numbs the brain
If I stay here I'll go insane.
Think I need a change of scene
To Abilene, my Abilene.
Outside my window cold rain falls,
Sit here starin' at the walls;
If I was home, I'd be serene
In Abilene, my Abilene

I read somewhere once that the George singing about Abilene is a couson or something of the movie star, George Hamilton.

Couson, edgar? Wow! I didn't know the George's of Texas knew French.
Here's the well tanned other George
Well, folks, this is for Frank Apisa from a Mac. (not a truck)
I could just sit around making music all day long.
As long as I'm making my music, ain't gonna do nobody no harm.
And who knows, maybe I'll come up with a song
To make people want to stop all their fussing and fighting
Long enough to sing along.
I believe in music.
Oh, I believe in love.
And I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
Music is love, and love is music, if you know what I mean.
People who believe in music are the happiest people I've ever seen.
So clap your hands and stomp your feet and shake your tambourine,
And lift your voices to the sky; tell me what you see.
I, I believe in music.
Oh, I believe in love.
I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
Music is the universal language, and love is the key
To peace, hope, and understanding, and living in harmony.
So grab your brother by the hand, let's sing along with me,
And lift your voices to the sky; tell me what you see.
I, I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.
I, I believe in music.
Oh, I, I believe in love.

Sleep The Clock Around
Belle & Sebastian
And the moment will come when composure returns
Put a face on the world, turn your back to the wall
And you walk twenty yards with your head in the air
Down the Liberty Hill, where the fashion brigade
Look with curious eyes on your raggedy way
And for once in your life you've got nothing to say
And could this be the time when somebody will come
To say, "Look at yourself, you're not much used to anyone"
Take a walk in the park, take a valium pill
Read the letter you got from the memory girl
But it takes more than this to make sense of the day
Yeah it takes more than milk to get rid of the taste
And you trusted to this, and you trusted to that
And when you saw it all come, it was waving the flag
Of the United States of Calamity, hey!
After all that you've done, boy, I know you're going to pay
In the morning you come to the ladies' salon
To get all fitted out for The Paperback Throne
But the people are living far away from the place
Where you wanted to help, your a bit of a waste
And the puzzle will last till somebody will say
"There's a lot to be done while your head is still young"
If you put down your pen, leave your worries behind
Then the moment will come, and the memory will shine
Now the trouble is over, everybody got paid
Everybody is happy, they are glad that they came
Then you go to the place where you've finally found
You can look at yourself sleep the clock around

The Boy Done Wrong Again
Belle & Sebastian
The boy done wrong again
Hang your head in shame and cry your life away
The boy done wrong again
Hang your head in shame and cry your life away
Are you ok now?
On Saturday I was an angel shining fair
You shone louder, longer
You put my shine to shame
Put me to shame now
What is it I must do to pay for all my crimes?
What is it I must do?
I would do it all the time
Do it all the time now
All I wanted was to sing the saddest song
And if you would sing along I will be happy now
The woodland spring has put the darkness from your thinking
If this town's your sinking ship
Then you know where to jump
Talking dirty, for a hobby that's alright
Pour another glass of wine
I'll think of England this time
All I wanted was to sing the saddest song
And if you would sing along
Oh if you would sing along
if you only sing along I will be happier

My word, dj. You sent me to the archives concerning Belle and Sebastian, and I am trying to listen to them right now, Canada. From what I can hear, the Monday Morning song is great, and has a distinct Spanish flavor.
Here is a song that I found by them:
For the price of a cup of tea
You'd get a line of coke
For the price of a night with me
You'd be the village joke
For the price of a pint of milk
I'll tell you all I know
About the state of the world today
Sit down, enjoy the show
She had several hours to find a place to stay
Try the coffee shop, but somewhere on the way
She heard about a place, somewhere she could go
Walked a couple of blocks to her destination
For the price of a cup of tea
You'd get a seven inches
Soul black vinyl to stop your tears
You can use my stereo
You might be the village joke but
Don't listen to the gossip of the other folk
She just wants to be accepted in this place
There's something in her face
She will always seem exotic and aloof
If you want to know the truth
Her friend the stars dripping from the jewelled sky
When she was passing by
Would keep her calm
There was people that she knew, at least she thought she did
Be easy on the kid!
She took her winter coat from her plastic wrapper
Pushed back her fringe, see her birthmark
She can finally be the person she wanted to be.
Time for a station break so that our crew can eat.
This is cyber space, WA2K radio.

Ah, I was:
Far, far away in dreams
Where the moonlight gleams
There I stay it seems
And while my fancies come and go
One that I love so
Whispers sweet and low
Come back to dreamy paradise
Drifting and dreaming
While shadows fall
Softly at twilight I hear you call
Love's old sweet story, told with your eyes
Drifting and dreaming, sweet paradise
Thanks for the info on Mr. Lee, Letty. My apology, ehBeth, for bypassing your interesting link.

Lovely, Raggedy, and yes we drift and we dream, PA. As for the info, that's what we be here fo. <smile>
What a surprise to find this song by Chris Isaak, folks. He stands in a collage with Diana Krall; Tony Braxton; Holley Cole and the rest who bring new life to old songs.
Artist: Chris Isaak
Song: South Of The Border
South of the border, down mexico way.
That's where I fell in love when the
Stars above came out to play.
And now as I wander, my thoughts ever
Stray.
South of the border, down mexico way.
She was a picture, in old spanish lace.
Just for a tender while I kissed the
Smile upon her face.
For it was fiesta, and love had it's day
(it's actually "we were so gay," but I'm assuming you know that).
South of the border, down mexico way.
Ay, ay, ay, ay (ay, ay, ay, ay)
Ay, ay, ay, ay (ay, ay, ay, ay)
Then she sighed as she whispered manana,
Never dreaming that we were parting.
And I lied as I whispered manana, for our
Tomorrow never came.
South of the border, I rode back one day.
There in a veil of white by the
Candlelight, she knelt to pray.
The mission bells told me that i
Shouldn't stay.
South of the border, down mexico way.
Ay, ay, ay, ay (ay, ay, ay, ay)
Ay, ay, ay, ay (ay, ay, ay, ay)
Ay, ay, ay, ay (ay, ay, ay, ay)
Good bye good bye.
Don't you just love Chris' asides, folks?

Acoustic Guitar
The Magnetic Fields
Acoustic Guitar,
I'm gonna make you a star,
Get your picture all over the world
Acoustic Guitar,
You can have your own car,
Just bring me back my girl
She always loved the sound of your strum
You made her think, maybe, I wasn't so dumb
She tends to faint at the sound of a drum
Cuz she's folk so play and maybe she'll come
Acoustic Gutiar, how lovely you are
With your inlays of mother of pearl
Be a good guitar and you could go far
Just bring me back my girl
She always said that you were the one
That could make her move her cute little bum
You understand where she's coming from
Which I obviously don't, or she wouldn't be gone
Acoustic guitar, if you think I play hard
Well you could of belonged to Steve Earle
Or Charo OR GWAR, I could sell you tomorrow
So bring me back my girl
You'd better bring me back my girl

Papa Was a Rodeo
The Magnetic Fields
I like your twisted point of view, Mike
I like your questioning eyebrows
You've made it pretty clear what you like
It's only fair to tell you now
that I leave early in the morning
and I won't be back till next year
I see that kiss-me pucker forming
but maybe you should plug it with a beer, cause
Papa was a rodeo - Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas - Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough for a one night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo
The light reflecting off the mirror ball
looks like a thousand swirling eyes
They make me think I shouldn't be here at all
You know, every minute someone dies
What are we doing in this dive bar
How can you live in a place like this
Why don't you just get into my car
and I'll take you away I'll take that kiss now, but
Papa was a rodeo - Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas - Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough for a one night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo
And now it's 55 years later
We've had the romance of the century
After all these years wrestling gators
I still feel like crying when I think of what you said to me
Papa was a rodeo - Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer before I learned to stand
Home was anywhere with diesel gas - Love was a trucker's hand
Never stuck around long enough for a one night stand
Before you kiss me you should know
Papa was a rodeo
Before you kiss me you should know - Papa was a rodeo
What a coincidence, your Papa was a rodeo too

Yes, indeed. Here's to Chris:
Western stars light up the sky, hear the desert wind roll by.
Tonight, tonight.
Western stars can break your heart, they keep shining when we're apart.
Tonight, tonight.
I'll watch, I'll wait, how will my heart ache tonight
Tonight.
I'll watch, I'll wait, my heart is bound to break tonight.
Western stars light up the sky, tonight I'm alone to cry.
Tonight, like every night.
A western hero must play his part, even though it will break his heart.
Tonight, oh tonight.
I'll watch, I'll wait, how will my heart ache tonight
Tonight.
Western stars light up the sky, hear the desert wind roll by.
Tonight, tonight.
Tonight, to-night..........

Thank you for your songs, dj, but I think that your PD is too tired to play.
Until tomorrow, then.............

The Happy Wanderer
Frank Weir
[Words by Antonia Ridge and Music by Friedrich W Moller]
I love to go a-wandering
Along the mountain track
And as I go, I love to sing
My knapsack on my back
Val-deri, val-dera
Val-deri, val-dera,
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Ha
Val-dera
My knapsack on my back
I love to wander by the stream
That dances in the sun
So joyously it calls to me
Come join my happy song
Val-eri, val-dera
Val-deri, val-dera
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Ha
Val-era
Come join my happy song
I wave my hat to all I meet
And They wave back to me
And blackbirds call so loud and sweet
From ev'ry green wood tree
Oh, may I go a-wandering
Until the day I die
Oh, may I always laugh and sing
Beneath God's clear blue sky
Val-eri, val-dera
Val-eri, val-dera
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Ha
Val-dera
Beneath the clear blue sky
Beneath the clear blue sky

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.
edgar, I had forgotten that such a song existed, Texas, and I remember it quite well.
You know, it is quite disconcerting to be awakened in the middle of the night by a telephone, especially when the caller won't let Letty get off the line and go back to sleep.
How about this "wander song" from Danny:
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam
Till I'm in the arms of my darling again
My heart will find no home
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam
Her arms were warm as they welcomed me
Her eyes were a fire bright
And then I knew that my path must be
Through the ever haunted night
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam
Till I'm in the arms of my darling again
My heart will find no home
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam
Her voice was oh such a soft caress
Of love it gently told
And in her smile was the tenderness
I may never more behold
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam
Till I'm in the arms of my darling again
My heart will find no home
Anywhere I wander, anywhere I roam

Wherever I Lay My Hat
Paul Young
By the look in your eye
I can tell you're gonna cry
is it over me?
If it is save your tears
for I'm not worth it
you see?
For I'm the type of boy
who is always on the roam -
Wherever I lay my hat that's my home.
I'm telling you that's my home.
You had a romance
did you break it by chance
over me!
If it's so I'd like for you to know
that I'm not worth it
you see?
For I'm the type of boy
who is always on the roam.
Wherever I lay my hat that's my home
that's my home.
Oh
you keep telling me
you keep telling me I'm your man.
What do I have to do make you understand?
For I'm the type of guy
who gives a girl the eye
everybody knows
But I love them and I leave them
Break their hearts and deceive them
everywhere I go.Don't you know that I'm the type of man
who is always on the roam?
Wherever I lay my hat that's my home
Wherever I lay my hat that's my home
Yeah
that's my home - I don't like it that way.
You know I can't make it all alone sometimes that's the way
That's the way
I'm not saying
I'm not saying I don't love you.
Just got to do what I want to do
that's what I want to do
But I'm not saying
you don't mean nothing to me
I'm not saying that no
no - I just want my way.
You're everything a man could want
