No problem, Raggedy. Google has not been good to me recently. That version was by Deano of the rat pack. <smile>

Amazing, listeners. Look what I just found:
Statler Brothers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The cover of the Statlers' 1991 album All American CountryThe Statler Brothers are an American country music vocal group founded in 1955 in Virginia.
Despite the band's name just two of its four members are brothers, and none of them are named 'Statler'. The band in fact named themselves after a brand of facial tissue (they have joked that they could have turned out to be the Kleenex Brothers). Don Reid sings lead and is the younger brother of Harold, who sings bass. The other members are baritone Phil Balsley and tenor Jimmy Fortune, who replaced original Statler Lew DeWitt in the early 1980s due to the latter's ill health.
Since forming, the Statler Brothers have released over 40 albums. They received Grammy Awards in 1966 and 1973. Two of their best-known songs are their first big hit, "Flowers on the Wall", and the socially-conscious "Bed of Rose's". Late in their career they had a regular variety show on the cable television channel then known as The Nashville Network. Throughout their career, much of their appeal was related to their considerable ability for comedy and parody that they frequently interspersed into their musical act; they were frequently nominated for awards for their comedy as well as their singing. They recorded two comedy albums as "Lester Moran and the Cadillac Cowboys," and one-half of one side of the album "Country Music Then and Now" was also devoted to satirizing small-town radio stations' Saturday morning shows.
The Statlers are now semi-retired, having completed a farewell tour in 2002. Harold, Phil, and Don continue to reside in their hometown of Staunton, Virginia. Jimmy has relocated to Nashville, where he is pursuing a solo career. He has released two albums as a soloist. The Statlers continue to be the most awarded act in the history of country music.
Don has authored or co-authored three books since the Statlers' retirement in 2002. They are Heros and Outlaws of the Bible, Sunday Morning Memories, and You'll Know It's Christmas When... He and Harold are working on a history of the Statler Brothers, to be published in 2006.

Country Heroes - Hank Williams III (One of his milder contributions)
Well, oh, what a feeling that burns down low
When you ain't got no where to turn, or no where to go
It makes me feel like sometimes I'm outta control
So I'm gonna get wasted with all my country heroes
I'm drinkin' some George Jones and a little bit of Coe
Haggard's easin' my misery and Waylon's keepin' me from home
Hank's givin' me those high times, Cash is gonna sing it low
I'm here gettin' wasted here with my country heroes
I'm drinkin' that whiskey out of that glass
And if that ain't country, boy, you can kiss my ass
I wanna hear them old songs, nothin' of the new
'Cause this might be the last time I'm gonna see you
So I'm drinkin' some George Jones and a little bit of Coe
Haggard's easin' my misery and Waylon's keepin' me from home
Hanks givin' me those high times, Cash is gonna sing it low
And I'm here gettin' wasted just like my country heroes
I'm here gettin' wasted with all my country heroes

You know, edgar. I have learned to appreciate music that I did not as a child. Jazz is still my first love, but looking at the lyrics to your song, makes me understand how simple and wonderful music can be.
This one is nice.
Artist/Band: Nelson Willie
Lyrics for Song: Hello Walls
Lyrics for Album: Essential Willie Nelson
Hello walls, (Hello, hello.)
How'd things go for you today?
Don't you miss her.
Since she up and walked away?
And I'll bet you dread to spend another lonely night with me,
But lonely walls, I'll keep you company.
Hello window, (Hello, hello.)
Well, I see that you're still here.
Aren't you lonely,
Since our darlin disappeared?
Well look here, is that a teardrop in the corner of your pane?
Now don't you try to tell me that's it's rain.
She went away and left us all alone the way she planned.
Guess we'll have to learn to get along without her if we can.
Hello ceiling, (Hello, hello.)
I'm gonna stare at you a while.
You know I can't sleep,
So won't you bear with me a while?
We gotta all stick together or else I'll lose my mind.
I gotta feelin' she'll be gone a long, long time.
(Hello, hello wall.)

I was gonna leave until I heard a voice which saidÂ…
TURN! TURN! TURN!
Byrds Lyrics
(Book of Ecclastiastes/Pete Seeger)
To every thing, turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn, turn, turn,
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
To everything, turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn, turn, turn,
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together
To everything, turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn, turn, turn,
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing
To everything, turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn, turn, turn,
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

Turn Turn Turn has special significance for me. The words were spoken by the minister at my older brother's funeral, in 1969.

Try, you and I like the same stuff, buddy. That was taken from the Bible, methinks, but I'm not certain of that.
Okay. I know we can't get Roger in here, but this is for him:
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising
I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightning.
I see bad times today.
CHORUS:
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.
I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
CHORUS
All right!
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.
Repeat chorus

So it was, so it is, and darling, so it always will be
Everly Brothers
I loved you from the moment you smiled and said hello to me
So it was, so it is, and darling, so it always will be
You spoke and I was captured for everyone around to see
So it was, so it is, and darling, so it always will be
It's been a thrilling mystery what you could see in me
That night right from the very start, what made you look my way
And give me the chance to say what was in my heart
My heart said you're my one love, without you there's no life for me
So it was, so it is, and darling, so it always will be
So it always will be

Well, listeners, it's that time of night, I guess. This is one I am playing for me. <smile>
Electric Light Orchestra - Midnight Blue Lyrics
I see the lonely road that leads so far away,
I see the distant lights that left behind the day
But what I see is so much more than I can say
And I see you midnight blue.
I see you cryin' now you've found a lot of pain,
And what you're searchin' for can never be the same,
But what's the difference cos' they say what's in a name.
And I see you midnight blue.
CHORUS
I will love you tonight, and I will stay
By your side, lovin' you,I'm feelin' midnight blue.
I see you standing there far out along the way,
I want to touch you but the night becomes the day,
I count the words that I am never gonna say
And I see you midnight blue.
Repeat Chorus
Can't you feel the love that I'm offering you,
Can't you see how it's meant to be,
Can't you hear the words that I'm saying to you,
Can't you believe like I believe,
It's only one and one it's true
Still I see you midnight blue.
I see beautiful days and I feel beautiful ways
Of loving you,everything's midnight blue.

Sailor's Lament
------------------
Woke up early feelin' light, (Shame, it's a shame.)
Somebody got to me last night, (Shame, it's a shame.)
Sat down for a friendly duel, (Shame, it's a shame.)
With one-eyed jacks 'n' jokers, too, (Shame, it's a shame.)
CHORUS:
Ooh, sailor man, (Shame, it's a shame.)
Ooh, sailor man. (Shame, it's a shame.)
Poormouth Henry turned on me, (Shame, it's a shame.)
Said, "Boy, I'm gonna pick you clean." (Shame, it's a shame.)
CHORUS
Oh!
Henry said, "Don't you mess that pile," (Shame, it's a shame.)
Had three aces 'n' he had five. (Shame, it's a shame.)
CHORUS
Shame, it's a shame.

Stagger Lee
The night was clear and the moon was yellow
And the leaves came tumbling down
I was standing on the corner
When I heard my bulldog bark
He was barkin' at the two men
Who were gamblin' in the dark
It was Stagger Lee and Billy
Two men who gambled late
Stagger Lee threw seven
Billy swore that he threw eight
Stagger Lee told Billy
I can't let you go with that
You have won all my money
And my brand new stetson hat
Stagger Lee went home
And he got his forty-four
Said, I'm goin' to the barroom
Just to pay that debt I owe
Go Stagger Lee
[Instrumental Interlude]
Stagger Lee went to the barroom
And he stood across the barroom door
He said, nobody move
And he pulled his forty-four
Stagger Lee, cried Billy
Oh, please don't take my life
I've three little children
And a very sickly wife
Stagger Lee shot Billy
Oh, he shot that poor boy so bad
Till the bullet came through Billy
And it broke the bartender's glass

Where were you on our wedding day?
Lloyd Price
Where were you on our wedding day?
I got bad news since you went away
Where were you on our wedding day?
You did me wrong and now you must pay
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh
Where were you when I said I do?
Everybody laughed at my in-laws too
Where were you when I turned around?
When your whole family hung their heads down
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh
(Sax break)
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh
Where were you when I searched the town?
Turned the whole neighborhood upside down
Where were you little girl I say?
Where were you on our wedding day?
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh
It's been ten years or maybe more
I never got married and that's the score
You broke my heart and now I know
I've been a fool for you so here I go
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh
(Sax break)
Whoa oh - give me back my ring - Whoa oh
Whoa oh - I ain't gonna let you keep a thing - Whoa oh

Good morning, WA2K radio fans and contributors.
hamburger, At least that is one lament that Letty doesn't have to worry about. <smile> Thanks for reminding us of the perils of one eyed jacks.
Well, Texas. Believe it or not, I know Lloyd and especially like Stagger Lee because I hear that melody in my head. Thanks, buddy.
Well, folks, we've heard from "one-eyed jacks", so how about "one-eyed" cats:
Elvis Presley
Well get out of that bed, wash your face and hands
Get out of that bed, wash your face and hands
Well get in that kitchen
Make some noise with the pots and pans
I believe it to my soul you're the devil in nylon hose
I believe it to my soul you're the devil in nylon hose
For the harder I work the faster my money goes
Well I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
Well you won't do right
To save your doggone soul
Shake rattle and roll
I'm like the one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store
I'm like the one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store
Well I can look at you tell you ain't no child no more
I believe you're doing me wrong and now I know
I believe you're doing me wrong and now I know
'Cause the harder I work the faster my money goes
Well I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
Well you won't do right
To save your doggone soul
Play it again!
I went over the hill, way down underneath
I went over the hill, way down underneath
You make me roll my eyes
And then you make me grit my teeth
Well I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
I said shake, rattle and roll
I said shake rattle and roll
Well you won't do right
To save your doggone soul

Rosalind Russell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rosalind Russell (June 4, 1907 - November 28, 1976) was an American film and stage actress.
Russell was one of seven siblings born to a Waterbury, Connecticut Irish-American Catholic family. She attended Catholic schools before attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
She was not named after Shakespeare's heroine, but rather after a ship her parents had travelled on.
Career
She became known for her roles in such films as The Women, Night Must Fall, The Citadel, His Girl Friday, Mourning Becomes Electra, Sister Kenny, Auntie Mame and Picnic, among others.
When asked what role was most closely identified with her, she replied that strangers who spotted her still called out, "Hey, Auntie Mame!"
Russell scored a big hit on Broadway starring in Wonderful Town in 1953. The play was a musical version of her successful film of a decade earlier, My Sister Eileen. Russell reprised her starring role in the musical version in 1958 in a television special.
Marriages
She married Danish-American producer Frederick Brisson on October 25, 1941. Her father-in-law was the successful Danish actor Carl Brisson. Frederick and Rosalind Brisson had one child, a son, Lance.
Academy Award Nominations, Later Life
Russell was nominated four times for the Academy Award for Best Actress:
1959 - Auntie Mame
1948 - Mourning Becomes Electra
1947 - Sister Kenny
1943 - My Sister Eileen
Russell was the logical choice for reprising her role as "Auntie Mame" when its Broadway musical adaptation Mame was set for production in 1966.
She claimed to have turned it down since she preferred to move on to different roles. In reality, she didn't want to burden the public with her escalating health problems, which now included rheumatoid arthritis.
Russell died after a long battle with breast cancer in 1976 at the age of 69, although initially her age was misreported because she had shaved a few years off her true age. She was survived by her husband, and her son, Lance Brisson.
She is buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Culver City, California.
Rosalind Russell has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1708 Vine Street. Her autobiography, written with Chris Chase, entitled Life is a Banquet was published a year after her untimely death.

Dern in After Dark, My Sweet, 1990Bruce MacLeish Dern (born June 4, 1936) is an American actor.
Dern was born in Chicago, Illinois to John Dern and Jean MacLeish. His paternal grandfather was George Dern, a former Utah governor and Secretary of War, his uncle was poet Archibald MacLeish, and his Godfather was well-known politician Adlai Stevenson.

His best-known role may be that of Freeman Lowell, the caretaker of Earth's last forests in Silent Running (1972), but other memorable roles include Asa Watts in "The Cowboys" (1972), and Michael Lander, the unbalanced blimp pilot in the film version of Thomas Harris' "Black Sunday."

Freddy Fender
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Freddy FenderFreddy Fender, born Baldemar Huerta in San Benito, Texas on June 4, 1938, is a Tejano, country, and rock and roll musician, known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados.
Early years
As a child, Baldemar and his parents travelled throughout the United States as migrant farm hands. At the age of 16, Baldemar quit school and started a three year hitch in the United States Marines. He returned to Texas and played bars and honky-tonks throughout the south, mostly to Latino audiences. In 1957, he released two songs to moderate success in Mexico and South America, Spanish versions of Elvis Presley's "Don't Be Cruel", and Harry Belafonte's "Jamaica Farewell". In 1959, Baldemar changed his name to Freddy Fender. He took Fender from the headstock of his guitar, and Freddy because it sounded good to him. He then headed for California.
Initial Success
In 1959, Fender recorded "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." The song became popular in 1959, but he was beset by legal troubles after he and a band member were arrested for narcotics possession. After a two year prison term, Fender ended up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he would spend the next five years.
By the end of the 1960s, Fender was back in Texas working as a mechanic, and attending a local junior college, while only playing music on the weekends.
Number One Pop and Country
In 1974, Fender recorded "Before The Next Teardrop Falls." The single was selected for national distribution, and became a number one hit on the Billboard Country and Pop charts. His next four singles, including a remake of "Wasted Days", all hit the number one spot on the Billboard Country charts.
During the next few years, Fender had several major country hits, including the No. 1 hits "Secret Love" (1975) and "You'll Lose a Good Thing" (1976).
Texas Tornados
In the 1990s, Fender teamed up with fellow Tex-Mex musicians Doug Sahm, Flaco Jimenez and Augie Myers to form the Texas Tornados, whose work was widely acclaimed. Following the death of Sahm, the production of the Tornadoes slowed.
Fender today
Most recently, Freddy Fender has signed a contract with Warner/Reprise Records, and continues to sing, play and tour from his base in Texas despite health problems.

Angelina Jolie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Born: June 4, 1975
Los Angeles, California, USA
Occupation: Actress, Model,
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador
Angelina Jolie (born Angelina Jolie Voight on June 4, 1975) is an Academy Award-winning American actress and former fashion model. She is known for her beauty, her tumultuous off-screen life, and humanitarian work with refugees. She has received three Golden Globes as well as an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Girl, Interrupted.
Biography
Born in Los Angeles, California, Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She is the niece of Chip Taylor and the goddaughter of Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. She is also the sister of James Haven. In a 2004 article in Vogue she stated that her mother is from Chicago. At the Premiere Magazine "Women in Hollywood" Awards, she said her mother was born in a bowling alley and has stated that because of her name people often assume that her mother is French. Jolie's grandparents were French-Canadian. Her paternal grandfather was from Czech Republic. Her mother also studied with Lee Strasberg. She is of Czech and English descent on her father's side, and French-Canadian and Iroquois on her mother's side. As a teenager, Jolie dreamed of becoming a funeral director.[1] She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute from the age of 11, later attending Beverly Hills High School. Though she enrolled at the film school at New York University after finishing Gia, she did not complete her studies.
Jolie has been long estranged from her father, though a reconciliation was attempted by his appearing with her in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In the October 2004 issue of Premiere Magazine, Jolie indicated that she was no longer interested in pursuing a relationship with her father, but that she did not hate him because she realised that "...we only have so much energy in this life". Soon afterwards, he claimed that she has "serious emotional problems" on Access Hollywood, and she legally dropped Voight as her last name, taking "Angelina Jolie" as her legal name. She stated that she didn't want to publicize her reasons for not having a relationship with her father, but since she had just adopted her son Maddox, that she didn't think it was healthy for her to be around him. Voight has yet to meet any of his three grandchildren.
Career
Before she began a career as an actress, she was a model who was signed with Finesse Model Management. She modeled in both the United States and Europe. She also appeared in numerous music videos, including those of Korn, Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz, and The Rolling Stones.
Her first starring role came in the 1995 film Hackers. In 1998 she achieved a major critical success, starring in the TV film Gia, the true story of 1970-80s supermodel Gia Carangi, who died of AIDS. Jolie won Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Satmifie awards, and was nominated for an Emmy.
She had roles in several box-office flops until 1999, when she co-starred in The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington and won an Oscar for Girl, Interrupted. Her first headlining blockbuster role came from 2001's video-game-based Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
Several of her subsequent films, such as Life or Something Like It, Alexander, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, were box-office disappointments, although Jolie herself usually received good notices. She did provide the voice of the fish Lola in the successful animated film Shark Tale. Nonetheless, she has become one of Hollywood's most "in-demand" actresses.
Thanks to a mixture of generally good reviews and advance publicity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith opened in the No. 1 position at the box-office on its release in early June 2005, providing Jolie with her first box-office success in several years. Following the success of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jolie is set to earn up to $15 million to star in the film The Good Shepherd, alongside Robert De Niro and Matt Damon.
Relationships
Angelina JolieOn March 28, 1996 she married British actor Jonny Lee Miller, her co-star in the film Hackers. Jolie attended her wedding in black leather trousers and a white shirt, which had her husband's name painted in her blood on the back. Jolie and Miller subsequently divorced on February 3, 1999. Jolie then married American actor Billy Bob Thornton on May 5, 2000. As a result of their frequent public declarations of passion and gestures of love (most famously wearing one anothers' blood in vials around their necks), their relationship became a favorite topic of the entertainment media. Jolie and Thornton divorced on May 27, 2003.
Jolie has said in interviews that she is bisexual. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Jolie said "If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it's okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!"[2] In an interview with a British tabloid in 2006, model Jenny Shimizu claimed to have enjoyed a long-standing and ongoing romantic and sexual relationship with her former Foxfire co-star.[3]. Shimizu later gave a special interview on the Q Television Network to specifically deny ever making such claims or having an ongoing relationship[4]. Shimizu had previously given a television interview in 2005 claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Jolie as teenagers around the time of the Foxfire filming.[5].
Brad Pitt
In early 2005, Jolie found herself in the middle of a well-publicized Hollywood scandal when she was accused of being the "other woman" in the divorce of actors Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. The allegation was that she and Pitt had started an affair during filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. However, in several interviews she has denied starting an affair with Pitt. In an interview with Marie Claire recently, she stated that she could never have a relationship with a married man because she has seen what relationships like that did to her mother. Her father has acknowledged that he cheated on Jolie's mother when they were married. Jolie stated that she "could not look at herself in the mirror" if she had an affair with a married man.
Speculation over the nature of Jolie and Pitt's relationship continued throughout the summer of 2005. On August 22, the Calgary Herald ran a front-page story with a photo of Jolie taken during a surprise visit she made to Calgary, Alberta a couple of days earlier, accompanied by her adopted daughter Zahara. Pitt was at that time filming in Calgary, as was her father, Jon Voight. It was later reported that Jolie and Pitt visited the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, Alberta together,[6] and sources reported in September of 2005 that they had visited the West Edmonton Mall together.[7]
On September 30, the Calgary Sun reported that Pitt and Jolie had rented a house together in the city of Spruce Grove, Alberta, west of Edmonton where Pitt was filming; the same issue printed a photograph of the couple, now dubbed "Brangelina," leaving an Edmonton grocer's.
Children
First child
On March 10, 2002, Jolie adopted her first child, Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt. He was born on August 5, 2001 as Rath Vibol in Cambodia. He was being housed in a Cambodian orphanage when Jolie saw him for the first time there in a production break for the film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. After her divorce from her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie received sole custody of Maddox.
After that, Angelina took Maddox everywhere. Angelina developed many nicknames for him; she calls him "Khmer," "Madness," "Mad," "My Love," and even "Psycho." He could gel his own Mohawk, which she gave him because "he had this crazy hair that stuck straight up. I had to do something with it." Maddox has also become a fashion icon; whatever he wears flies off shelves.
In the autumn of 2004, it was reported that Jolie had started proceedings to adopt another child, (a 7-month-old boy named Gleb) this time from Russia [8]. However, no adoption ever took place.[9]
On March 8, 2005, Jolie took part in a Washington Press club luncheon. It was there that she announced the founding of the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children in Washington, D.C., an organization that provides free legal-aid to children who prior to this had no legal representation. Jolie donated $500,000 to the centre which will help keep it afloat for the first two years of its operation. At that same conference she stated that she never intended to adopt a Russian orphan boy. Jolie expressed a deep sadness at the media's exploitation of the child. She stated that she was on business through the United Nations and not looking for a child to adopt. She also mentioned that her son wanted an "African brother or sister" because of his love of Africa and the work he knows she does in that region.
Around the same time, Lauryn Galindo, the Hawaii-based adoption facilitator whose services Jolie had used to adopt Maddox, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to visa fraud and money laundering charges. She had been falsifying records of children to be adopted in visa applications to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and several of the children she placed had not been abandoned at all but were enticed away or bought from their birth families. There is no evidence that Maddox was among them, although the investigation is continuing. Maddox Jolie-Pitt, as he is legally named, was naturalised as a United States citizen some time ago, and there is no indication that that will be rescinded.
Second child
On July 5, 2005, People reported that Jolie was in the final stages of adopting a baby girl, who was thought to be orphaned by AIDS, but her mother from Ethiopia didn't have enough money to raise her, through the agency Wide Horizons for Children. Jolie has named her daughter Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt. Zahara was born on January 8, 2005. A woman in London has been claiming she is Zahara's birth mother since August 2005. Jolie had a lawyer in London to look into the matter, which proved to be false.[citation needed]
On September 28, 2005 while making an appearance to discuss America's financial involvement in fighting AIDS globally on CNN's "The Situation Room" with Wolf Blitzer, Jolie stated that her daughter is an "AIDS orphan." By that she means her birth mother died from the disease but her daughter does not have the disease. The birth father of Zahara is not known. Her statement made it clear that the birth mother is indeed dead. In late October 2005, an Ethiopian judge ruled that there is no evidence to suggest that Ms. Jolie would have to file for re-adoption of her daughter Zahara Marley Jolie. The judge ruled that the woman claiming to be her mother is not the birth mother. Earlier in the summer, another woman had come forward claiming to be the grandmother of Zahara. That claim also proved to be false.
American magazine US Weekly indicated erroneously that Jolie and Brad Pitt had adopted Zahara together. When the magazine realised its error, the presses were stopped and an apology issued to Jolie and Pitt; printing of the issue resumed with the correction made, though a number of copies with the error were still released to the public. Reportedly, however, Pitt was present when Jolie signed the adoption papers. The agency later said Brad Pitt was not present when Angelina Jolie picked up her daughter.[10]
Zahara's name means "luminous" in Arabic. Right after she came to the United States, she became so ill with salmonella that she had to spend time in a hospital. Angelina stated that "she was six months and not nine pounds. Her skin--you could squeeze it and it would stick together." Since then, however, Zahara has gained weight well, and the family now calls her "Chubby."
In December 2005 however, it was confirmed that Pitt was seeking to legally adopt Jolie's two children. In support of this bid (and as part of legal requirements), Jolie took out classified advertisements in the Los Angeles paper, the Daily Commerce, announcing the name change request, and on January 19, 2006, a judge in California approved this request. The children's legal surnames were formally changed to Jolie-Pitt.[11]
Third child
Rumors of the Jolie and Pitt's pregnancy spread as what appeared to be a "baby bump" was noticed by paparazzi and tabloids in a variety of photographs taken from December 30 - January 7. On January 11, 2006, both Jolie's and Pitt's representatives confirmed, through People, that the two were expecting their third child (first biological child) in summer 2006, thus indirectly confirming for the first time that they were in a relationship.[12]
On May 27, 2006, Jolie gave birth to the couple's third child, a daughter named Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, at night at the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital in Swakopmund, Namibia. Shiloh was born by a scheduled caesarean section, due to breech presentation, and Pitt was there to cut her umbilical cord. The couple's Los Angeles obstetrician was assisted by local staff. Shiloh, according to a longstanding translation from the Bible, has come to mean "the peaceful one." (Although Shiloh (a Hebrew name) can also mean "Messiah" and Nouvel is French for "new", which means that the child's name could also translate to "New Messiah".)
"Angie and baby are fantastic," a source close to the couple told People on May 28. "Brad was at her side during the birth." People was also told by Namibia's Environment and Tourism Deputy Minister, Leon Jooste, that "Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt will, according to Namibian law, be allowed to obtain Namibian citizenship, if the parents should choose to do so." He added that discussion of the child's passport will be taken up with her parents "at a later stage."
Humanitarian work
In 2003, Jolie published a collection of journals made during missions for the UNHCR. Her proceeds from the book went to the UNHCR.Jolie has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees since 2001, and she frequently travels to countries in order to draw attention to the plight of people in developing countries. In 2003, she published Notes from My Travels, a collection of journal entries that chronicled her early work with the U.N..
In a January 2005 interview with Reuters, Jolie criticised fellow actors and actresses for not being committed enough in helping others, and stated that she gives one-third of her income to charitable institutions. On October 12, 2005, Jolie was awarded the Global Humanitarian Award by the UNA-USA.
Jolie was also one of the first celebrities to accept an invitation to be one of the bearers of the Olympic Torch during the 2004 Olympic Games, though she was ultimately unable to participate because of filming commitments.
Since taking on her goodwill ambassador duties, Jolie has on numerous occasions made public statements that she wants to quit acting and concentrate on her UN work (for example, see Ireland On-Line in June 2005 [1]). However, she has also stated that her work provides her with the income necessary for her to continue travelling the world on behalf of the UN.
Jolie continues to balance the demands of being a film-star with that of being a humanitarian, despite an apparently gruelling schedule. On June 7, 2005, the Associated Press wire service reported on Jolie giving a presentation in Islamabad, Pakistan. That same day, she attended the premiere of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in Los Angeles. She now lives full-time in Buckinghamshire, England, and owns property in Cambodia, which she had to have demined. Angelina Jolie spent the new year of 2005 by going abroad to film a documentary called "A Moment in the World". She called on several actors and actresses to film in various locations around the world at the same time for three minutes. This was done in order to capture random moments that are happening across the world at the same time. Some confusion has arisen between this project and the independent endeavour A Moment on Earth, in which 60 film-makers around the world captured two separate moments on 5th and 6th August, 2004. No release dates for either project are known at this time.
In August 2005, Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni awarded Jolie Cambodian citizenship for her conservation work in the country.
In September 2005 Jolie was named the new spokesperson for the clothing line 'St. John Knits' starting in the Spring and Autumn of 2006. The deal with includes the start-up of a charity headed by Jolie. The charity will focus on children's issues and causes. It has been reported, but not confirmed, that she will also sit on the board of directors and have stock in the company. The deal is also believed to be the biggest celebrity clothing endorsement with the actress receiving US$10-15 million. Other celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow receive about US$5 million to promote luxury clothing and accessories. On 24 October 2005 Angelina Jolie attended the 'First Annual Benefit Gala for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation,' where she pledged to partner with the WHO to treat children in Ethiopia who have been orphaned by AIDS and are HIV positive. "AIDS is chronic and manageable, and does NOT have to kill any longer," said Jolie. She also announced her plan to support the WHO's Pediatric HIV/AIDS Clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and pledged an initial grant. The gala helped the organization raise $800,000. Dr. Jane Aronson, the organization's founder, and Ms. Jolie first met through the adoption of her daughter Zahara and Jolie credits the doctor with helping save her daughter's life.
Tattoos
Jolie's inventory of tattoos has become the subject of much media attention, and she frequently adds or even changes existing tattoos. She has said that all the tattoos she possesses have a special meaning. Her tattoos include:
the letter H (for her brother James Haven) on the inside of her left wrist.
"A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages" (Tennessee Williams) on her left forearm.
a large prayer for her son Maddox on her left shoulder which covers up the Chinese "death" tattoo.
two pointy black tribals on the lower parts of her back.
Quod me nutrit me destruit (Latin for "What nourishes me also destroys me") several inches below her navel, became prominent after her pregnancy announcement.
a tilted Latin cross on the lower left of her abdomen.
a large Asian tiger on her back.
a dragon under the tiger.
XIII (number 13 in Roman numerals) on her left forearm.
Arabic for "strength of will." (العزيمة) on her right forearm.
"know your rights" just under her neck between her shoulders.
Lasered/Covered:
a dragon on her left arm (she has been lasering it for some months now but it can still be faintly seen).
"Billy Bob", the name of her former husband Billy Bob Thornton, on her left arm (like the dragon, it is still somewhat visible despite having been in the process of removal for a long time).
a Chinese character for courage now covered by the Tennessee Williams quote.
a Chinese character for death (死) now covered by the prayer for her son.
a tattoo both Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina had a copy of. It was on her right forearm, now covered by the "strength of will" tattoo.
a dragon she got in Amsterdam while drunk, now covered by the Latin cross.
a window on her lower back. On 'Inside the Actors Studio', she explained that she covered this tattoo, because, while she used to spend all of her time staring through windows wishing to be outside, she now lives there all of the time.
Jolie has gone on record as saying that a positive effect resulting from the large number of tattoos on her body is that, while she is not opposed to film nudity, filmmakers have been forced to become more creative when plotting any nude or love scenes involving her. Make-up has been used to cover up the tattoos in productions such as the Tomb Raider films, Original Sin, Taking Lives, Alexander, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

During her acceptance speech for winning the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award for Girl, Interrupted during the 2000 Academy Awards, Jolie stated "I'm so in love with my brother right now" which, combined with her affectionate behaviour towards her brother that night, sparked the rumours. On Inside the Actor's Studio she stated that she never had an incestuous relationship with her brother, stating that "the world is a lot sicker than I thought," in reference to the conclusion everyone jumped to. Also, in an interview with People Magazine she and her brother stated that, being children of divorcees, they relied on one another and because of that they hold on to each other as a means of emotional support. She is a voice for her people and they are lucky to have her."
She hasn't stated definitively whether or not she believes in God or what religion she practices. When asked in an interview with The Onion A.V. Club if there was a God, she said "For some people. I hope so, for them. For the people who believe in it, I hope so. There doesn't need to be a God for me. There's something in people that's spiritual, that's godlike. I don't feel like doing things just because people say things, but I also don't really know if it's better to just not believe in anything, either." She added a tattoo of Buddhist Sanskrit symbols on her shoulder as a prayer for him.[5][6][7][8][9]
