Which of the next phrases is better?

To better follow the evolution of vortical structures toward the final steady configuration, a numerical schlieren is implemented and a sequence of schlieren pictures covering 104\mu s of real time, presented.

@lfgmarc,
Use the second with "is presented" and no comma.

@lfgmarc,
To better follow the evolution of vortical structures toward the final steady configuration, a numerical schlieren is implemented and a sequence of schlieren pictures covering 104\mu s of real time is presented.

This is actually a simple compound sentence with a bunch of modifying phrases around it.

schlieren / is implemented . . and . . sequence / is presented
