@Olivier5,
If you find any inaccuracies or omissions in my posts or disagreement with my opinions, you are, of course, free to express them in this dialogue. I think that is the point of these discussions.

You have frequently expressed opinions of the United States that reveal your own incomplete understanding of this country. However I have not observed any inhibitions on your part resulting from that deficiency.

With respect to "sensitivity" you are merely projecting your own.

@georgeob1,
How could I find innacuracies in tired generalities and vague (but STRONG!) suspicions?

I do opine on the US, but I have the humility to learn from guys who live there. I also lived there for 10 years. Did you live in Europe for ten years?

That's why I know better than stating things like: "I strongly suspect that the tensions between the northern and southern states will lead to the collapse of the US. Tut tut tut..." cause I know I'll look like an anti-American ill-informed cretin if I said that.

I don’t even understand anti-semitism. I missed that day at racist orientation.

Antisemitism is not about racism, most Jews being physically indistinguishable from the the general run of ordinary Heinz-57 type white people. What antisemitism is about is things like Rothschild central banking, communism, the Kalergi plan and the globalist scheme to make yellow hair and blue eyes illegal, the MGM culture war against Christianity etc. etc.

The problem is that the vast majority of Jews are just normal people who don't know or care about any of that ****, but they are the ones who get punished for it.

You seem to have led a sort of a sheltered life. This might give you some inkling as to the kind of thing which some of the grief is about:

This alone would probably make me a Macron supporter were I a constituent.

Macron is a Soros/Obama creation and there is no reasonable way to describe the election which brought him to power as legitimate or his regime as legitimate. We've seen what the French people think of him by what's happening in the streets and Marine Le Pen just kicked his ass in the EU elections and is calling for him to call new elections and hit the road. If he has any brains, he'll do that before he ends up like Mussolini.

Other than that by all accounts, the Germans are right in viewing advanced diesel engines as the future of land vehicles. It costs more to construct and operate an electric vehicle than a vehicle with a diesel engine.

Your post is indecipherable and without logical meaning. It also appears you don't have the courage to write what you really mean … whatever that may be...

Another bad week ??

@georgeob1,
So you may have noticed, George, that there was a poster a few posts up who went on, incoherently but still understandably, about several anti-semitic conspiracy theories. You know, "Rothschild central banking, communism", that kind of thing. He especially emphasized the perhaps wackiest theory of them all ("the Kalergi plan"), adding a follow-up post to tell us to google it. (I did, and you really don't wanna know.)

Oh, "the vast majority of Jews", the poster did hasten to add, "are just normal people" who don't know about these conspiracies.. but they're real, and that's "what antisemitism is about".

So Olivier yelled at him for this... and that's the thing you frowned at? Olivier's incivility? Man.

I was not even uncivil, mind you... I think Curious George misunderstood the whole exchange, as he often does.

Wowsers.

I found this posted on Twitter, so read it with salt (I’ll see if I can find some reliable confirmation)—but looks like some notable French citizens are talking about #Fraxit.

Charles de Gaulle's grandson called on France to throw off the shackles of Anglo-Saxon control

Pierre de Gaulle, the grandson of former French President General Charles de Gaulle, said that the country needs to join the BRICS in order to get rid of the control of the European Union and NATO. In this case, Anglo-Saxon capitalism will not be able to dictate its terms to France, Pierre believes.

"Joining the BRICS will give France an alternative to NATO's trusteeship and dependence on the Anglo-Saxon financial market. France would also be able to free itself from subordination to the EU administrative machine, which neglects the interests of European countries and seeks to dissolve the national identity of Europeans in the grip of the Brussels technocracy," he is quoted as saying.

I have a vague memory of Macron trying to get next to BRICS a few months ago s he was getting kicked out of Niger.

Interesting times.

De Gaulle’s grandson advised France to join BRICS
January 20, 2024

Pierre de Gaulle advised France to join BRICS to gain independence

France needs to join BRICS in order to “free itself from subordination to the administrative machine of the European Union.” The grandson of the former French president, Pierre de Gaulle, said this in an interview with the Franco-Russian Dialogue association, TASS reports.

Joining the formation will allow the country to have an alternative to NATO tutelage and stop being dependent on the British financial market, de Gaulle said. By joining BRICS, the country, thanks to its historical heritage, could take “its rightful role as a world power” in the association, he believes.

The grandson of General Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970) also spoke critically of the United States, noting that the sanctions they imposed led EU countries to economic recession and energy problems. In his opinion, European countries cannot do without cooperation with Russia.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the possibility of including France in BRICS. Paris can submit an application for membership if it has the appropriate desire, it will definitely be considered, he said. The head of state also recalled that in 2024 Russia will act as chairman of the association. This year the number of BRICS members has reached ten.

Pierre de Gaule, who told TASS in an interview in St. Petersburg: "It would be an honour for me to receive Russian citizenship. Your country offers great opportunities. I love the deep and powerful culture, intelligence and Russian spirit."

@Walter Hinteler,
I was aware of that.
It doesn’t change the sentiment—the same one that bolstered Brexit.

…despite widely-shared negative perceptions / rhetoric of the Brexit result.
Do you think #Fraxit is possible?

That term would be "Frexit".

No, I don't think so. (The French see what Brexit has done to the UK ... and they are surrounded by EU-countries, besides the UK.)

Since this thread is "Checking in on Macron": The French president was among the 1500 dignitaries and politicians who honored Wolfgang Schäuble, who shaped German politics for half a century.

Macron says Germany lost 'great statesmen' Wolfgang Schäuble
Quote:
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday difficult questions can often be solved only when Germany and France work together.

Macron spoke at a ceremony in Germany's lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, honoring the late lawmaker Wolfgang Schäuble.

"Germany has lost a statesman. Europe has lost a pillar. France has lost a friend," Macron, who delivered most of his speech in German, said.
[...]
Macron praised Schäuble's commitment to improving Franco-German friendship and the unification of Europe.
