Does this need to be installed in a box?

Hi.

I have a strange question.

I need to install a Leviton 2715 Flanged Inlet in a wall (1/2 plywood over sheetrock). This is in a residence.

Edit [Moderator]: Link removed

I can't seem to find an appropriate old work box for the 2715. Is a box required for this inlet?

Thanks,

Tweakophile

@Tweakophile,
Leviton has a Contact page on their website. They also say they can be reached via Twitter and Facebook.
