Sorry, Dutchy, I have been having trouble with my computer over the last couple of weeks. For some reason when I go to dial up, about half the time I get a message telling me to connect a modem. It gets very frustrating at times!!

I really wish there was a little man inside the pc that I knew was listening when I yelled at it.

You must admit it is the final insult to humanity - you can rant and rave all you want - if the computer doesn't want to play - tough luck.

(I hate talking to recorded messages on the phone for the same reason. I don't mind being told I'm wrong - I will listen to the other person's side of an issue and may change my stance accordingly - but I do like to have my rant-and-rave!)

Dutchy, I should be so lucky! The little square squirt wins nearly every time. Today is the first time I have been able to "get out" in days. Isn't it lucky I don't have much of interest or intelligence to impart? I miss you all when I cannot get a connection. All I need is a Lotto win to either get the gear I have overhauled or dump it and get new stuff.

Very pleased to see you we missed you. I can symphatise with you when those little gremlins poke their unwelcome attentions onto your computer.

Hopefully you are on top of things and can join us in the various threads, we had quite a bit of fun of late, despite a2k giving us headaches as well, still not running 100% I think, as the "quick reply" box is still invincible.

Finished all your Lovatts magazines? Butterfly tells me she has already received her May "Big" issue, will have to harass my newsagent tomorrow.

I thought the disappearance of the Quick Reply box might have been part of my computer problems so I am a little mollified that you all have to suffer that one as well.

I doubt that my problems are over - it just seems to be an intermittent fault that is occurring more often than not now. I just have to live with it for the moment - or until the Big Red Ball falls on me! :wink:

I've missed a lot no doubt, in particular, your whereabouts! When last I read, you had just released yourself from the shackles of the much hated job and were into the elitism of social coffee drinking in the sidewalk cafe's of Manhattan.

Obviously you are on top of those nast gremlins. Talking about missing faces, haven't seen "devries" for over a week, wonder what's happened to her, she was such a regular on a number of threads. Computer "meltdown" do you think?

He's back around. The last few days have seen the old coot posting in the General forum board. He has handed us such treasures as "If..." wherein we are advised to toss out whatever first hits our minds. Seems to me that would have fit better into this area which is trivia and WORD games, but maybe he is trying to stay hidden.

Today (also in General) he placed the question/topic of What do you have a hankering for. In recent weeks he complained about his naked new neighbors, his inability to find the proper window treatments. So, he's around. Just click on his name and take a gander at some of the stuff. Sadly though he seems to have abandoned all of the good folk who have kept this thread going. Maybe we ought start a new one which we can use to far far far surpass his...

You know Dutchy this posting at the exact same time (after the other day where we both did Breakfast at Tiffany's at the exact same time) is just mind boggling...and more than a bit spooky too.

I'm supposed to do her clicking for the rainforest if she's not around, and I just realized she seems to be out of commission the other day.

devriesj's last post was 19 April. Let's hope all is well and that she is back soon.

Sturgis - I had found Kicky's thread about the drapes. Do you remember that movie "Carmen Jones"? (Modernised/Americanised "Carmen"). One of the songs begins -

I was amazed! People in New York certainly have a unique way of doing things. oh well! To each his own.
