I that Director Comey was serving a 10 year term, how could President Trump fire him?
@gollum,
Under the law the FBI Director is a part of the Executive Branch of the Government, and, as a result, he serves at the pleasure of the President.
@georgeob1,
georggeob1-
Thank you.
Hmm. The heads of almost all Federal Departments serve at the pleasure of the president. They don't have terms (e.g., 10 years).
What is the meaning of the FBI Director having a 10 year term?

Well, it kinda "sounds" good, ya know? Might give some people the impression that he is completely independent and not subject to the whims of politicians.
