The ultra-knowledgeable outsider and/or the guy who needs everything explained to him. Both are really clunky means of getting across exposition.

You forgot the most important act of that makeover. Letting ones hair free and flowing from some kind of bun or ponytail. What a chameleon we have in front of us?!

This was lampooned well although I can't recall the film, where Alyce Beasley takes off her glasses, lets her hair down, and she's suddenly replaced by Kathy Ireland.
