Now I could be really unfair here but I am getting the feeling that the ALP and Beazley haven't learned from the last shemozzle. Just for the record I used to be a very active member but quit due to the usual rubbish that goes on, so I'm not some sort of tory stirrer. But I get the distinct feeling that unless there's a seismic shift in thinking in the ALP that they are going to give the Little Emperor another shot at - Kirribili House - hah I nearly said the Lodge! How stupid of me.

Yes, silly you, goodfielder!
By seismic shift I presume you mean the ALP had better start using its "ticker"? (as JH would say. ) i.e. Stop being so gutless & take a few risks?

I posted this to another thread here today, but I'm posting it here as well, just so we can wallow in the full awfulness of our situation. Do something, ALP, dammit do something! :

In some perverse way Leunig's little cartoon made me feel a bit better.
Yes msolga I want the ALP to go organic - show some brains, guts and heart.

The Aussies and Brits can complain about their horrific political situations as much as they want, but let's put things in perspective. You don't have Bush as your leader.
That has to lift your spirits considerably.

That would be a huge improvement. I hope they don't do the small target thing again. And I hope they stop chasing the vacant space slightly to the left of the Libs. I just hope.

I certainly hope your first sentence wasn't directed at my observation, goodfielder.

Yes, as I said on another thread, Bush will soon need surgery to remove Howard from his arse.

I'm wondering if Gus actually meant to post this cartoon here, following his & our earlier comments on Bush, Oz & the Brits.:

No Gus it wasn't - an unhappy coincidence
Just a thought - if Billy Hughes was the "Little Digger" could Johnny be the "Little Dagger"? And I don't mean the sharp-bladed instrument. Given his propensity to get near Bushii's arse I was more thinking of the agricultural reference to "dag" as being a piece of crap hanging off a sheep's breech.

OK!
But I expect you to feel sorry for us now that you realize that Mr Bush is presiding over us, too!

Let's hope dagmaraka doesn't stumble across this thread. I, among other people, have been know to call her "Dag" for short. How the hell were we supposed to know you Aussies used that term as a unflattering reference.
You guys and your sheep danglings and the British with their cigarettes can get a guy into a bit of trouble.

Thank you, Gus. <sniff> It'd be different if we actually voted for him ....
