Hey, happy Halloween everybody!
When I was a kid, I used to hate Candy Corn. Everybody I knew hated it too, and I assume that it is still widely scorned as one of the worst Halloween treats ever, by children all over the world.
But I am eating some right now, and let me tell you, it is actually pretty damn tasty stuff! It doesn't rank up there with Reese's Peanut butter cups or those Hershey's kisses with the almond inside, but it's definitely better than a lot of the other crappy candy that people would give out during Halloween. Like for instance, Twizzlers. Or a pack of gum. Total crap.
I remember some people would give out apples for Halloween too, which was just stupid. Who wants to eat fruit on Halloween? And my mother would always have to check the damn thing to see if someone had stuck a razor blade in there. I never cared; I wasn't going to eat the stupid thing anyway.
So what do you think are the all-time best and worst Halloween candies?
Yay! At least I'm not alone. How old are you, sweet Georgia Brown? I think it's a candy that only adults can appreciate, for some reason.
When I was a kid, it was acceptable to give out apples and oranges to trick or treaters. We never had to check for razor blades or other objects in any of our treats. Back then, so many people gave out apples that we had to throw them away right after we got them
we were given so many, that they made our bags too heavy to carry.
I think the best Halloween candy is very large chocolate bars
the kind you would get at someone's door
then go around the block and come back again to collect another one from the same house.
Yeah, I remember going back to the houses that gave out those crisped rice Hershey's bars a couple of times. MMMMMM....I loved those things.
So what is your opinion of Candy Corn, Colorbook?
Candy corn is okay, but my husband loves it and he insists I buy some every year.
Interesting. You've got yourself a good man there, Colorbook.
Never cared for candy corn...but i love getting chocolate bars ....hate jelly beans too...nasty stuff...only the good stuff for Halloween...
Its just as you said.As a child candy corn was an anoyance too small , no chocolate, and most important ...seasonal! nobody thinks about candy corn until october! When I became an adult and tasted it as a matter of chance or bordom. I thought this is great
I love candy corn. I can't remember if I like it as a kid or not.
My least favorite Halloween candy was the nasty peanut butter taffy wrapped in orange or black wax paper. I always threw it out.
Oh, I hated that stuff too!
what were those orange squishy things coated in sugar they were pretty nasty too!
Peeps? Or orange slices? Both yucky.
I love candy corn. Always have. Hated the taffy stuff. Loved anything chocolate except those nasty little Tootsie Rolls that always tasted like they were three years old. But that wasn't REAL chocolate.
I remember getting homemade popcorn balls for Halloween...anybody else remember those?
I've always liked candy corn. But I have a major love of chocolate, so the chocie treats were always best.
I guess my favorite Halloween candy would be Twizzlers. Or a pack of gum.
God! I love that stuff.
This is my granddaughter's take last night...not one candy corn in the bunch.
Look at all that cat hair on the carpet!
Don't you own a vacuum, colorbook?
My vacuum cleaner is strong enough to pull the beard right off your chin.
I hate candy corn, it ranks up there with poo.
