Steptoe and son was a British classic from the 1960's about two "rag and bone" men, dealers in scrap and junk to our USA friends, and the series was bought by the USA but it was called something different. I've been racking my brain to remember what it was called and cant come up with the name, anybody remember?

Hey, Don of the U.K. The American version was Sanford and Son starring Redd Foxx. (think that's the spelling) It was a fantastic and funny series here. Quincey Jones did the most fabulous musical background for that series, that you have ever heard.

We also stole another from you. "Tell Death Do Us Part" became "All in the Family". That show really broke a lot of taboos.

You be welcome, UK.

Panz, perhaps cuckold would be a better word. Razz Know where that expression came from?

I'm certain that Don won't mind if I ask you about The Stanley Brothers.

Didn't they do the music behind Beverly Hillbillies, and sue the performers who did Dueling Banjos in Deliverance?

Help me rewrite my memory.

Cuckold comes from the habits of the cuckoo that lays its eggs in other birds nests and lets someone else do the upbringing, like the unfaithful wife that has children by someone other than her husband and lets her husband work all his life to bring up children that he thinks are his.

Never heard of the Stanley brothers though. Sad

Exactly, Don. What part of the UK are you from?

The reason that I asked Panz that question had to do with the erosion of the beach in Daytona Beach, Florida, since all the hurricanes. The Stanley Steamer boys did their first test run there, and almost became airborne. There are also a couple of guys referred to as The Stanley Brothers that play blue grass music.

Don't think Panz is speakin' to me, though. Confused Smile

Not so Letty, my hometown with the 4000 holes in it is the same shire that John came from, the borders have been changed a bit since then for political reasons, but the town is in Lancashire. You will have to figure out which song it is if you want to know Very Happy

Hmmm, Don. Will most definitely do that. Give me a moment of meditation. Blackburn, Lancashire. I was going to say Penny Lane but changed my mind; however, I love that song.

A lot of Brits on this site, Don. Panzede is a transplant.

I love Steptoe & Son - and it had some fantastic theme music.

"You wouldn't do that to an old man, would you, 'Arold?"

Hello Don, from the White Rose county....

"Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords......." The lucky man who made the grade, that is.

Ah, they don't write lyrics like that any more.

I remember the horse in Steptoe and Son was called Hercules.

Hey wait a minute- Duelling Banjos needs two banjos (at least) for its execution, and Lester Flatt played the fiddle.

I like bluegrass and banjo music- but here's a joke for Letty, our musician.

What's a definition of perfect pitch?

-Someone who can toss a banjo into a skip (dumpster-US) without it touching the sides.

Nice McTag!

What do you say to a banjo player in a three-piece suit?
"Will the defendant please rise?"
