Walker's gone. **** him anyway.
Gargamel, please tell me you are not a Packer fan.
I don't want to hate you.
Regarding my earlier post where I said I thought the Packers had a good draft: I was under the impression they drafted Hodge. Was I wrong?
Anyway, John Clayton seems to disagree with me.

They did:

Looks like the total so far is:
5. Green Bay Packers - A.J. Hawk (LB, Ohio State)
47. Green Bay Packers - Daryn Colledge (OT, Boise State)
52. Green Bay Packers - Greg Jennings (WR, Western Michigan)
67. Green Bay Packers - Abdul Hodge (LB, Iowa)
75. Green Bay Packers - Jason Spitz (OG, Louisville)
Oh, this is handy:

Walker is a jerk. We'll miss him though.

I've been rooting for the Pack since Randy Wright was quarterback. Those were tough times. Of course I was only five years old. I don't remember understanding football before then.
Gus, you strike me as a Raiders fan, a So Cal kind of guy. Wait, not really.
It would appear God is unsure what next year will bring.
When asked:
Quote:So now that he's back in the saddle, the biggest question is, when will he retire? And like a man who's been through this situation before he squashed every speculation in his first press conference since returning to the Packers.
The Almighty wrote:"I'm going to play this year, give it my best and not talk about it. I'm sure it will come up somewhere else at some point, but it's been a distraction not only for me, but the guys that I've played with here in the past and I'm just not going to talk about it this year. Believe me I want to have fun this year and I want to go to the Super Bowl but I want to have fun and feel like I contributed one way or the other and make that decision later on."

Oh, hey!
Hadn't seen that either.
Cool... the part about the Packers letting him play offense is intriguing...
So there I sat, surrounded by 69,000 of my closest friends, and watched the Pack beat the snot out of Atlanta. Quite the opposite of what I expected to see, but it was good. It would appear we may have a football team on our hands. Go Packers!
Dropped in only to say that the Packers victory on Sunday must have given Ratzenhofer a Rumpelstinkin tantrum!
It was nice to see Favre smiling and having fun on the field today. Winning must be good for morale or something.
Even I picked 'em. Good thing too - on the day's games so far, I've guessed exceedingly badly.
How ya doin', folks?
Last night I was doing some final cleaning of the kitchen before bed. Looked through my window into my neighbor's living room -- he was watching TV. Green. Gold. Is it...? Close-up of Favre. Close-up of Holmgren. Oooh! Long shot of green + gold on a snowy field.... I actually said out loud, "Oh, there's snow!!!!" and ran over to the TV to find the game.
I haven't watched a single game this year and have, I thought, fairly effectively reclaimed the Packers part of my brain. But as soon as I saw Brett out there in the snow I lost it. Just a puddle.
And that was BEFORE, as I watched, there were some nice little passes to Jennings and then the beaut to Donald Driver who made the gorgeous run across the field to the end zone. Donald Driver! I actually know him! (Jennings is new to me but looks promising.)
So I was going crazy in as quiet of a fashion as I could muster (kid was in bed) and just generally verklempt. OSU football is great, but this, this is the real thing.
Then I really HAD to go to bed. Only managed to watch about 20 minutes. Nirvana.
Then wake up this morning and check the score -- after all of that, they lost.
Ugh.
I think I want to get off this emotional rollercoaster, but I just can't seem to... green and gold in the snow and crossing routes are just so beautiful...
4 BRETT FAVRE: On the NFL's all-time passing list...
-Is expected to play in his 235th straight game (255 including playoffs). He should start his 233rd consecutive game (253 including playoffs), extending the NFL's record among quarterbacks.
-Needs 10 TD passes to match Dan Marino's NFL record, 420. Favre enters with 410.
-Needs 60 completions to surpass No. 1 Dan?Marino (4,967). Favre enters with 4,908. Needs 92 completions to become the first ever to reach 5,000.
-Needs six touchdown passes at Lambeau Field for 200. Favre (194) already holds the single-stadium NFL record, having surpassed John Elway's Mile High Stadium mark (180) in 2005.
Go Pack Go!
So, after a year's hiatus, pro football is fun to watch again. I mean the Packers are.
I spent New Year's Eve with family in a bar, here in Chicago. I can't tell you how fun it is to watch the Pack beat the Bears asses in a bar full of Bears fans. You could see all the hurt Favre has caused them over the years resurfacing on their faces.
As Rayner actually made that last field goal to put the packers up 26-7, and I was cheering, some dick behind me said, sarcastically, "And with that, the Packer's are in the playoffs."
I said to him, "No. With that, Brett Favre is 22 and 8 against the Bears." Which seemed to shut the guy up.
I will not participate in any debate concerning Favre's retirment. At least not yet. I'll savor this victory longer yet.
Oh man, I wish I'd seen that... in Chicago no less! I went to bars to watch several Packers games in Chicago (my TV wasn't working for a while there and I absolutely couldn't miss the games) and there always seemed to be a Packers contingent. We bonded.
Twas a beautiful victory, but I damn near cried when Favre did after the game.
NOT what I wanted to see. He says he'll only torture us for a couple of weeks this year though. Damn it... the man's still got game!
Unfortunately, I think if anything it makes it more likely that he'd retire. He really wants to retire after getting another Superbowl win, but failing that, he'd retire after a great game.
Ooooh, if that was his last game and I missed it...!!!!! (I shudder to think...)
That seems to be the consensus... but only Brett knows for sure. You can tell he's still got the fire, though, so I won't be counting him completely out until the Pack starts a game without him. 4 straight victories including a spanking of a much better than average Bears team is something worth building on!
