Ahhh... Packer season is almost upon us and the smell of Stale Cheese is in the air. Soon grocery stores will be full of football wives wearing extra-large green and gold #4 jerseys just before gametime on Sunday morning Stocking up on cheese, sausage and beer for their extra-large #4 jersey wearing football husbands who are to busy painting their faces green and gold and saying their pre-game prayers to God (aka Brett Favre) that there is yet another win Sunday here in God's country.

Oddly I find the best time to do my grocery shopping is at game time once the green and gold has cleared out. The aisle are empty and I can leisurely walk up and down every one sometimes without seeing another person until the checkout line. I find it a much bette ruse of my time

(O'Bill, you pin his arms, I'll take care of painting his face green and gold with a giant #4 on the forehead...)

LOOK!!! BRET FAVRE IS IN TOWN!!!!

<I point and yell in a direction behind Soz and O'Bill. As they drop their paint and spin around to get a glimpse of the King of Wisconsin, I quickly turn and run narrowly escaping a green and gold shellacking>

Oh man I'm going to be superjealous this year if you get to keep watching up close.
As it happens, I did score 4 tickets to the next preseason game for face value while I was at the last one, and bought them before realizing that it was on a Friday night. So I gave them to my Sis and Bro-in-law who are taking the Boys. I did pick up a 20 inch flat screed for behind the bar on Game Days.

I had better luck finding Packers games in Chicago (they have an interest, if only for rooting for the Pack to lose) than I have here in Bengals (Bengals??) -land.

I'm behind, I know there have been preseason games but don't know how it's been going or how the team looks. I'll go research, but a quickie summary from you would be cool.
2 games down. Favre looks outstanding. Davenport and Walker should make huge impacts on O, while my hunch is Barnett will make the ProBowl on D. We have speed in the secondary, but it remains to be seen if Caroll can keep his hands to himself. New D Coordinator won't Blitz as often as I'd like, but he does allow the linebackers pretty much free range so at least we're done with the "fill the gaps-plan to fail" crap we're used to seeing. Way too early to tell how effective D will be, but on O, we've got all the weapons. Gus will tell you our O-line has suffered terribly... and it has... but I don't recall the last time Brett was better in the pocket than on the run anyway. I don't believe Walker can be single covered, because of his tenacity when going after a ball; so I'll look for a lot of deep safety help... which means if Ferguson improves (as expected), 3 and 4 reciever sets should stretch the field to the point our lessor O-line may seem even more effective for the ever-elusive Ahman and the severely punishing Davenport. We have a crazy tough schedule... but I don't see it as anything we can't overcome. The few minutes Brett's played thus far, he looks unstoppable... But, then, what else is new? I look for them to shock the nation as they go 11 and 5 and Brett earns his unprecidented 4rth MVP.

P.S. JP claim he's coming here and I've got a wedge of Cheese waiting for him.
P.P.S I can't find my Cheesehead Avatar on this computer. Anyone have a copy handy?

Threatening a person is no way to make a person feel welcome

I think the Packs biggest problem is going to be the D. I think they are going to have a hard time getting off the field at times which will put extra pressure on the offense. Bret on the run is remarkably better then Bret in the pocket but also 5 times as wild/risky. An entire season of that could take a toll.

On the bright side... the rest of the division (including my Bears) are going to suck even worse. I think the Pack will take the division but bow out early in the first round.

Is it o.k. if I'm a lime-head?

I couldn't find a cheese-head hat small enough.

Perhaps. At least we can count on whipping some Chicago Bear ass, as usual.

 If Tom Rossley figures out Brett's our only hope before the second half next week; we might be OK. I'll be there, doing my damndest to get it through to him.

Maybe I'll do my hair up in rolls around my ears, and get a hologram made that you can project on the field during the game... "Brett, you're our only hope!" Think that'd make an impression on ol' Tom?

It's not HIS fault!!!

The offensive line is for ****. For godskaes, you'd think they could get some huge coked up mutants to give Brett a break--he's the only bright side to this team!

He's like, 85 years old. Time to hang em up...time to hang em up. Not that any game yesterday was worth watching. Especially Detroit. Yikes. If the Packers want to win, just set them up against the Lions.
