I'm a little disturbed that you changed the thread title and added a post before my initial post. It could lead me to look like an idiot. I would have started a new thread.

I wonder if the mods might allow me a new identity - you know - like the witness protection program - but this would be a stupid protection program????

There are probably millions of people who believe, right this minute, that that site is Al-Jazeera' site. How would you find out otherwise? It doesn't make you stupid. Don't be embarrassed.

Well, at least now there is a thread with one very pink Bunny telling them where the real site is - thanks to you, FreeDuck.

That is just plain cruel, BPB.
I thought we were friends, even though you threatened to wipe your bottom with me....

Do you wish one still pink with embarrassment to elucidate, or may I continue to sink into the floor undisturbed?
July/August 2006
It is vilified as a propaganda machine and Osama bin Laden's mouthpiece. In truth, though, Al Jazeera is as hated in the palaces of Riyadh as it is in the White House. But, as millions of loyal viewers already know, Al Jazeera promotes a level of free speech and dissent rarely seen in the Arab world. With plans to go global, it might just become your network of choice.
I'm not sure how long this will remain available as a free article.
Arabs in Europe have launched a petition to stop Al-Jazeera TV broadcasts in Europe. They accuse the channel of fostering extremism among European Arab youth and of supporting terrorism.
While the initiators have not provided their names, it seems likely that they are Iraqi expatriates; although various Arab news websites, such as Elaph, have reported on the campaign, the petition itself has been posted primarily on Iraqi websites.
In addition, on November 28, 2007, Iraqi exile Joseph Shallal wrote an article on the Arab left-liberal Modern Discussion website urging a boycott of Al-Jazeera.
MEMRI is not exactly the most neutral source of course. But a petition is a petition, and the article provides additional evidence of some serious discontent in at least Iraqi circles about Al Jazeera.
Considering the petition is anonymous (even if this might be for good reason), and there's no info here on how many people signed, it's a bit difficult to assess the breadth of this discontent however.
