Hi, I'm working on a wiring project in my home. I installed in a ceiling fan to a room on the lower level of my house, and ran the wiring to a receptacle outlet in an upstairs room. However, my light switch in my upstairs room now controls the on/off of my ceiling fan. I would like to learn how to have separate power with this receptacle, one power line to the fan and another to the light switch independently. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

@tejunot,
Well Not, in the box for the receptacle see if you can find another black wire, probly wrapped. If so carefully unwrap and see if there's a voltage on it when the light is off

If you're a rankamat, you can determine this with the use of a lightbulb

Thereupon it's obvious what to do but be sure to wrap the splice
