Can't Identify Signature of old Charcoal Drawing. Italian? Russian? Please Help

I bought a painting at auction some years ago and have never been able to decipher the signature. The subject is an old Lady at knitting. I deframed the picture to see if it would afford any clue. And the paper is watermarked and has a monogram of some kind as well as a signature.

If anyone could help out that would be spiffing!
