I want to convert a 36v battery to AC but I am having trouble finding a 36V inverter, I have thought about using a DC to DC converter to drop it to 12V since there are plenty of 12V inverters, however I am wondering if I will get much loss of power, will it generate a lot of heat or what are any other problems that could arise?

@Blickers,
Unfortunately I am in Australia so we use 240v @ 50hz, but that is the sort of thing I am after, or if i can drop the voltage down to use a lower inverter

@Azerak,
If you use the latter solution, it will cost you more than buying the proper inverter.

Look here : 1000W DC 36V to AC220- 240V Power Pure Sine Wave Inverter
