Could you please tell me if the following sentence is written correctly (in terms of grammar)?

"An experimental study by Brown (1995) has supported the assumption that..."

It is not a sentence, however it is not ungrammatical. A sentence would have something in place of the ellipsis.

It is grammatically correct, but are you sure you mean 'assumption' and not 'hypothesis'?
