Due to + cause1, action, to + cause2

Although I had been using it for a while, I realized that I forgot using due to..., action, to... structure.

For example:
Due to I got wet, I put on my coat, to rain...

As far as I remember, this structure is being used to explain below situation:
Due to + main cause + action that has been taken based on main cause + to + reason of main cause

Is there anybody who can explain that sentence structure with (further link will be helpful)

I think what you're trying to say is:

Due to getting wet, I put on my coat to protect myself from the rain.

Or alternatively,
Due to the fact that I got wet, I put on my coat to protect myself from the rain.

Putting on my coat is the action I took because I got wet. I got wet because of the rain.

Hopefully that helps a bit. I'm unfamiliar with this structure.
