In what year did VW change from the small oval rear window to the larger semi-rectangular one? I've been seeing a lot of the ovel window versions lately.
In 1953 the oval "brezel" [pretzel] window was chanced to the 'nornal' oval one.
In 1957 the Beetle got the "big" window.
The link is only in German, but by the photos and years you can get the changes easily
