Could Rey and Luke be the villains of Episode IX?

No.

Well, anything is possible.

But no.

What should happen in VIII?

The bad guys should get the upper hand, but the good guys should manage to survive, like ESB.

Note that that VIII will take place in a galaxy without any central authority. They did a very poor job of making this clear in the previous movie, but the galactic government was moved from Coruscant sometime after RotJ. That nameless planet that got blasted by the big planet cannon was the galactic government.


BTW, Episode 3.999 this December will not be recorded with IMAX FILM, so there is no need to try to see it in that format.

It will however be recorded with 6,560 × 3,100 resolution digital cameras, so it will be worthwhile to see it in a theater with 4K projectors (or IMAX LASER).
